RockingGurl 06 In a minor key, the third, sixth, and seventh tones of the scale are one half step lower than they are in the major scale. This causes music in a minor key (such as carol of the bells) to sound much more sad or serious than music in a major key (such as the star spangled banner). Major music is usually much more relaxed and happy. You can actually change the key of a song when you perform it though, which is what Chase does in each of these major to minor videos.

RockingGurl 06 basically every key is a group of seven notes that you make music with. Every major key has a relative minor key and vice versa. In the relative minor key, three of those notes that you use to make music are shifted a little bit lower. It isn’t difficult to calculate, but most musicians have just memorized all the notes in each key so that doesn’t really matter for us. On a guitar, you would just need to move your fingers one fret closer to the head if those fingers happen to be playing the altered notes. Once you make the slight adjustments, the music does the rest itself As an example: The key of C major is seven white notes on the piano: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. The key of C minor makes the 3, 6, and 7 notes one half step lower, so they become E flat, A flat, and B flat, which are all black notes on the piano. Once you’ve made those changes to the notes that you play, the rest of it is pretty straightforward. I hope that makes sense, it’s just a little hard to explain key changes to someone who doesn’t have much music experience.

*SPOILER ALERT* maybe idk I can imagine Riverdale making some insane plot line in Season 5 where Betty’s in college and over the course of like a week some random guy at Yale starts following and stalking her and Betty starts to notice and then she starts trying to avoid him and then he gets more clever and tries to find her and then while he’s trying to find her he sings this version of the song and it’s all creepy, but it would sound really cool. And maybe it could be one of the minor characters returning, maybe even you as new character for like a couple episodes, or even someone coming from the dead which would be a completely different thing, but I could see Riverdale going there.
