I have the Starcaster in the sunbirst finish. I love it! Some guys swap out the pickups, but the originals sound fine to me. I did add a Les Trem vibrato (NOT tremelo!!!) and that is highly recommended...

Less blathering. More playing. Its fair to say everyone here know what a jazzmaster is and what features it has. Quit yappin' and get tk the playing so we can draw our own conckusions. PS oh no, he played a bunch of metal blues rock and classic rock riffs. Jazzmasters are for indie, alt rock, and shoegaze. Smh.

I replaced the bridge (fender American), the tuners to locking and the pick up (JB) and filed out the nut quite a bit and with lubrication all but the G keep in tune if you don't go to hard on the trem, the G i tune a little to low so that when you trem it gets a bit to high until you bent again on that string, but you hardly notice then the g is a tiny bit off, others on youtube had good results with a new black tusq nut. I also leveled all frets, so a nice low action is possible with no buzz at all....
@sleevelessaceАй бұрын
i did the same things to mine (just havnt did the bridge yet i like the idea of a vintage style fender one cant really go wrong there) and ya i did locking tuners a jb and graphtech nut and WOW plays like a 1000$ guitar id imagine with a new bridge how much better it will add to the quality the block and whole system is cheap n light lol, and i clipped the "Treble Bleed" which makes the volume pot into a on/off switch..
@kenweckhuysen926410 күн бұрын
@@sleevelessace worked a bit more on smoothing out the nut with high grain sandpaper and when de strings are fully stretched, she keeps her tune.....👍
@sleevelessace9 күн бұрын
@@kenweckhuysen9264 honestly this guitar is amazing when added with a few mods the locking tuners werent even crazy expensive ones just musiclily locking pros 46-60$ cad i believe, most expensive mod was the JB which was worth it but the stock pickup isnt that bad either (most important mods would be the nut, tuners that would go a long way, and bridge because ive noticed even with the claw screws back a bit the tremelo arm is very very stiff, did u notice that aswell?
@kenweckhuysen92649 күн бұрын
@@sleevelessace always have the bridge locked to the boody for direct drop d tuning possibility, so the arm is always stiff ...so don't know

Kinda late here, but new to the tube amp scene. I recently picked up a DSL40 amp, similar to the DSL100 you're using. I didn't have an overdrive pedal at first, but did have a CS-3 lying around that was given to me as a gift many years ago. I noticed the boost it would give, along with the EQ pedal I had. I quickly bought a SD-1 since they are so cheap and love it. I tried using them together and there can be a lot of feedback, even with a noise suppressor. After a few weeks of tweaking settings, etc., I have so far come to this conclusion for my sound, which is based on the No More Tears album: I use the SD-1 on the Clean, Crunch and OD1 channels. I use the CS-3 as a boost on the OD2 channel instead of the SD-1 as the gain levels on that channel are a bit overkill and the amp needs a little help keeping the EQ's shape (the EQ pedal is still doing a good job here, used in the efx loop). If I want to play a lead, I might kick on the CS-3 for it's duration. I can't stand the compression when playing clean as it clips my lower end a bit too much. This CS-3 pedal isn't the easiest to figure out at first and thanks for making this video to help my learning curve.

THANK YOU! It’s refreshing to see someone not dogging on the SG in a review. I never understood the hate, especially for the look. It looks like it was carved straight from the Devil’s workshop, and what’s more ROCK than that? Always loved the symmetric design. I’m in the exact same boat as you brother, Angus Young was my first guitar hero who made me want to rock. I too find the SG very comfortable to play.

Great review! Good that you dont have the guitar hanging to your croch. I am a strat guy, but this guitar really has my curiosity going. For me, its all about the neck and comfort. I seems this guitar has both...including, being light weight. i am 60 and I hate skinny necks. Tone is in the hands and your signal chain. Thanks for your honest opinion.

The "special tool" is called a screwdriver... It's designed to be adjusted with the neck off. If you want to adjust it with the neck on, that's your choice, but you'll need to buy a (non-Fender) produced tool to do so. Your real issue with it should have been that Fender initially advertised this to buyers as made in the US, but when it came out they decided to hide the serial numbers in the neck pocket because they all start with MX... Made in Mexico.
