I LOVE Batman, but everything about Tom King's run feels like it's not for me. Even when I hear people who like it talk about it, it still makes my cringe. I borrowed this series from the library because after Volume 1 I just didn't want to spend my money on it. I found it basically unreadable. I know that's harsh but my "to read" pile is pretty big so if I'm not feeling it, I stop reading it and move onto the next thing. This one is an easy pass. I really liked The Cowardly Lot and Fear State from Tynion though. And I'm so excited to get into the Court of Owls. Right now I'm reading through Allstars. I'm on the fence after the first volume. We'll see what Volume 2 is like later today. I don't care for the weird stuff that happens in this run. Like, I don't want to see Thomas Wayne as Batman. My son says it's the 'tism but I don't think so. It's just not what I want from a Batman story.

In the Ego volume you see Catwoman easily fluster and entangle Batman. I think she's smarter and more capable than we want to give her credit for. It's not super often people can get a jump on Batman and she makes it look so easy. I personally buy the idea that Batman can't be happy. Some people are just too damaged to allow themselves to be happy and is Batman consistently that guy. Like Constantine, or Moon Knight (I know it's not DC), it's like they're trying to redeem themselves and never can. I understand why Constantine and Moon Knight can never clear their ledgers. Bruce Wayne has much, much less to redeem himself from. But it's in his nature to brood and feel sorry for himself.

No… A lot more death needs to happen across the series. But for me the biggest issue is Kabuto. He has no motive to join Obito, much less give him an army. If anything Kabuto should have had his Edo army on his side and used Madara against Obito and Naruto. With this battle being what changes Obito. Kabuto should have his Edo’s bring back strong ninja for him to absorb to gain their jutsu. Also for him to have all this Hashi dna and not have Wood style is ridiculous. Kabuto was one of the biggest threats in the Ninja world but gets written of because plot devices needed to happen.

I have a theory. I think tom king is a time traveler and comes from the future. He stole the best comic stories from other famous writers from a close future and published those himself earlier. Then he got recognition as one of the best if not the best writer in the last 10 years, but then the problem presented to him: the publishers requested him to write new stories. And of course he decided to write them... and they were crap. That would explain why his stories after human target are utter crap.

The Akatsuki's plan officially was not to hold the villages hostage and so that peace may reign, Pain had a secret motive for it which was the peace thing but even that was supposed to be achieved through destruction. By lending the power of the beasts to one village then the other and watching them destroy eachother, the resulting agony inflicted on eachother would humble everyone to seek peace with their neighbour, after effectively knowing pain until eventually the effects wore off and the infighting began again, then he would repeat the cycle etc which he shared with Naruto during their fight, before that the official goal of the akatsuki was nothing as noble as peace. Pain lured then with power they thought they were being invited to become the richest most powerful organization in the ninja world, untouchable by any of the hidden villages only Tobi and Connan knew this. Ofc Tobi had his own motives In retrospect I think this is what you wanted to summarize with that statement lol but yeah a lot of people get the akatsuki/pains motive wrong a lot of the time so just putting that out there
