i think "Car science" would be the perfect solution for the "how do i put 36 different types of science in one lab" problem cars have alot of space in them, and there's a lovely blueprint out there, that only need slight modification to fit more science edit: yea, that might work too. we'll see

Protip: Conveyor belts have 2 lanes each, so instead of needing 36 belt lanes for 36 science packs, you will only need 18.

I'd suggest breaking the lab loop into a chain or a 2D grid loading toward a single corner to avoid useless cycles of outserting science packs that are already populated at the "end" of the loop and trying to insert them into the "start" of the loop. A snaking (alternating left and right facing inserters on each row) 2D grid maximises the throughput of sciences by mixing them between horizontal rows and quickly filling the labs by inserting vertically in the next column. Not sure it's very clear, basically you want to make the endgame of Snake with shortcuts between each u turn

I'd suggest a lab loop directly at the belts and have filter inserters filtered to *not* put the science that comes from the belt into the lab. you'd probably sideload 4 onto 2 belts and feed them into a lab each

Moving from inventory to inventory (lab to lab) is faster than moving from belt to lab, as the stack inserters don't need to spend time "collecting" science off the belt.

I always use prod mods in my miners because i HATE outposting, but now im reconsidering it.

Prod modules aren't that useful in miners, because you have mining productivity. With blue science you get 20% bonus, and you can spend lot's of prod modules 1 to get it to 32%, I don't think it's worth it.

For megabases it makes sense imo. You only pay for the productivity module once, and can reuse it elsewhere.

@@Solarbonite Not really. In a mega base your mining productivity research will far eclipse what a module can give, and the slowdown isn't worth the cost. Plus at that scale the cost of a module 1 is negligible and a module 3 would be better used somewhere else (plus 3 module 3s with no speed beacons will give a severe speed penalty).

for miners prodmods counts additive to high productivity research, so in megabases the extra productivity is nearly useless, and given the modules slow down the miners significantly, they're practically never a good choice for miners
