Stevie Wonder must have built that house. People like yourself should be present at all times on each & every build. Yes, it would drive up house prices even further. Jesus' people pay a shit ton of money for crap like this.... Bloody disgraceful!! Seriously when homes were mostly solid brick the expected life span would be around 150 -200 yrs. Today brick veneer "cardboard crap" is only good for about 60 yrs if that.

So what happens? As there's serious rectifications that require removing structural steel... I cant imagine the builder is going to be that happy about doing some of those and will fight them.

Really? You think the quality of this work is acceptable? I hope you're not building people's houses either.
@oldmate8626Сағат бұрын
@electricjoshaloo I rectify the issues. Other than components, a house is built 100% by hand, from bricks laid to roof tiles placed and fixed. Every build has its issues, specially if a new design. Every issue will be rectified to code. Your job is to check for these items if the owner asks your input. Most of these would already be noted by the builder. You are making content and using this to make people alarmed . I would recommend a building inspection company who doesn't put your home all over youtube. Unfortunately some trades aren't the best in a building boom, stimulated by the govt, which was never needed. Customers as greedy as builders to save or make a $
@electricjoshaloo29 секунд бұрын
@@oldmate8626 You're havin a laugh, mate. The industry is rife with shoddy workmanship and builders who ruin people with their terrible building quality and refusal to properly rectify issues. Of course things arise during a build that require fixing or tweaking, but there are way too many builds where the work isn't done properly in the first place and that is the real issue. Don't try to paint the crappy builders as the victims here. If the work was done properly and the industry wasn't full of dodgy builders then there wouldn't be any content like this in the first place.

When you import the third world, you eventually become the third world. Your government is importing almost a million foreigners into Australia every year because it increases the value of the assets their benefactors own - much of it real estate. These foreigners need houses too, so the demand on new homes becomes extraordinary and this leads to a collapse in standards, as you see here. On top of that, more and more builders are actually the same low IQ and cheap foreigners the government just imported, which accelerates the collapse even faster. Gents, grow some balls and start talking about thr CAUSE of this stuff, not just the SYMPTOMS, before you've lost the country and your living standards. It's all on the shoulders of your government, left and right, and the people who own them.

Essentially got my mo ey back and was left to fix myself. This builder fraudulantly completed paperwork, had no building imdemnity insurance in place. No proper punishment whatsoever. Disgraceful. Keep these builders accountable!

I bought a 1983 home 6 years ago for this exact reason. Did all the renos properly myself. And reading the comments below, your right these arent correctly trained trades people. Anyone buying a house built after the late 90's be really careful what you buy. Checkout the builder by searching council records. Make sure you get it inspected by a reputable building inspector who is on your side and make sure you put it in your Offer to Purchase that if it fails the inspection your out and your deposit us fully returned.

So we signed up in December 2020 for a 10 week renovation where we were supposed to be able to stay in the house. Fast forward 2 years, they went into involuntary liquidation, we were left with a completely uninhabitable house, completely exposed across the back and a bunch of dodgy works to the point we have to remove the entire roof and all the works they had done! Fast forward another two years and we’ve been through the wringer, legal, insurance, new plans and owner builder course, planning approval to get told at the beginning of this month that we can’t be owner builders because we’re in a duplex that shares a carport wall! So where are we left? Yep have to go through a builder, which we can’t afford so we are left with an uninhabitable home and living in a 3x5m box! This is just absolutely criminal! Neither the council, dmirs or insurances give a rats! I lost all hope 2 years ago but managed to work through it, gave up high pressure job to go into a less stressful job, which became just another high pressure job but managed to see light as we reevaluated, came to the decision to owner builders after I don’t know how many builders we’ve had through at this point and move forward with a new plan. 2 years later and as I sit here in tears writing this am getting back to that point! There is simply no way for us to move forward anymore! I am trying to find a builder that will just get us to lock up but we have our plumber and electrician which have been with us throughout this process and builders want to use theirs, problem is, theirs won’t help us like ours will, so it’s a no go from them! The consequences to the builder and their representative, nothing, absolutely nothing! No idea what to do now because even if I find a builder, how do I know we aren’t going to end up in the same position with more money down the drain? So my thoughts now are rip down all of their works, take the roof off and just leave it for a few years and keep camping in our box out the back. The council can suck on eggs at that streetscape view! But happy 2025 because other than that, for the most part, we are at least happy and it wasn’t like that for a couple of years so we will take that win! 😊

And the government forces people to use a builder and put restrictions on owner builders. That is the problem, builders are protected species. Every builder needs to put something up of equal value to every build they do so if it goes belly up the customers get reimbursed. Maybe that will force good quality work.
