I thought it was a really good flick. I am a huge metal head, but never really got into black metal. Or grindcore now that I think of it. I may like a song or two, but not the whole genre in general....

0:35 I'm agreed with you that this movie is more a artsy 50 Shades Of Grey type of vibe movie, however, the only difference is that Nicole Kidman's character is a married woman with kids even though she is a CEO of the company she worked. Plus, this film is probably far better than 50 Shades of Grey film franchise, also, I rather take this film, 365 Days movies, Basic Instinct, over those films (but I like the soundtracks though). Intimate Another thing is that I'm don't mind eroticism in films (especially the thriller ones) as long you keep advancing the story to make it not only interesting but entertaining as well. Also, lowkey, to be honest as a bisexual woman like myself, who like a 3s0me scenes in films like "Wild Things", & "Basic Instinct", even hell, some of the eroticism films I lowkey liked even though it's don't make sense sometimes but make you h0rny is "Species", "Decoys", & "Showgirls". So, yeah, I don't mind eroticism films, though. 😏😏😏😏😼😼💋💋💋

Love the 1990-1994 Norwegian BM music, there are some bands post it I like but that era is still my fav.
@thehitherto53482 күн бұрын
As a Norwegian, this band and the BM scene was part of my childhood. They were on TV, in the papers and was the subject of endless discussions. Although there was definitely lots of drama behind it (nearly 20 churches going up in flames, bomb threats, murder, etc.), the media exaggerated things as well - making up rumors about pagan graveyard orgies and a possible satanic revolution! It's easy to laugh about it today, but I think it got so much attention because it happened in what's otherwise a very dull and uneventful country. There was something special about it since it made rock 'n' roll dangerous again.
@DrumdumsXtra2 күн бұрын
Yeah the media loves to do that. Norwegian BM had such a strong impact that it spread over to the states quite rapidly. Thanks for sharing man!
@Mark-nh2hs2 күн бұрын
I remember reading about it here in the UK in the early 90s - got me into BM. But my fav period of BM is the 90-94 era as the music captures a moment a feeling - which later BM does not capture. I remember a music journalist saying this was the last big event to shock the world in music. Sadly many now are trying to delete this era or have misconceptions about what happened or the feeling of the youth in Norway at the time. Aaahh yes the Satanist element - I remember reading in one of my many books saying Satanism was never a part of the scene but when they had interviews they knew by saying Satanist would strike more impact than say Paganism lol. Who came up with this idea depends on who you talking to some say Euro others say Varg 😂.

I didn't like the casting choices and a lot of it seemed low budget. But I figure I'll check it out eventually. You're the first person I've seen actually talk positively about it and I typically like your movie takes. Black Metal is my shit -- though admittedly Mayhem doesn't do much for me outside of their 1987 EP "Deathcrush".

I reviewed it when it first came out and a few of my review friends really dug it. I thought Varg was poorly miscast based on physicality alone. Loved Rory as Euronymous though. I’ve sort of become obsessed with this story haha.

What funny though is that my introduction with Auntie Demi is Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle especially that scene where she came in and starting having a conversation with Cameron Diaz's character at the beach while doing little mission that they doing, and also pieces of "Ghost" as well. Another thing is that speaking of her personal life, let not forget she was married to Ashton Kutcher at the time back in the 2000s. Also, plus, I'm did got the chance to see "The Substance" at the movies since yesterday, and I really like it, yes, it's not gonna everyone's cup of tea, however, despite the gory & the nastiness, I'm do like not only the concept but the theme & the message around it how nuances sprinkled on it especially how women (who are middle-age or senior citizen) that they get treated unfairly because your looks are not 'desirable' like they used to back in the day, especially in hollywood in the industry, while you have somebody like her character Elizabeth Sparkles is doing well, ages like fine as wine and always stay in shape even though she getting older. Overall, I thought the film was good, but it's well-done though. Plus, not gonna lie, Aunt Demi is fine as hell, and she still beautiful till this day, also, lowkey, I kinda like her in Striptease, idk why, I'm guess I like being sexy (and naked) while dancing on stage, even though, she playing a character in the movie, and also, she is my girl crush, so, I'm probably holla at her in the 90s in her younger days. (Sorry I don't mean to be a 'pervert'), it's just she beautiful as hell, damn I love her, lol. 😏😍😍💋💋 Side note: my favorite movie of 2024 is "Wicked" 💚💗🎵🎶

Yeah they made Varg a pathetic simp lol. But when you read other accounts Varg was very intelligent and manipulative, and Euro was a bigger tit in real life 😂. I saw the film and enjoyed it regardless of it's errors and one sided view point. But Dead's suicide shocked me and shows the horror of it. (If I recall they used the post mortem notes to detail how it happened and when). The bit which I wish they had not done was make Varg a Simp fanboy. If the made Varg more like he was in real life it would of made his scenes more intense.

Mayhem played their 40th anniversary a couple weeks back here in Melbourne, and by the time I could afford a ticket (had too many big bills pile up at the end of last year) they were gone. I was peeved. But, I did get to see them perform with Watain a few years back, and that was a great show, so I can say I've seen them. Necrobutcher's interview on Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (and a follow-up on the Metal Evolution series) is noteworthy in itself.

It's funny for me to consider Mayhem the "most dangerous" band since i've been listening to them for so many years and heard/seen/read the story so many times. Sure they caused a huge splash and unfortunately some people were killed etc... but like, there are bands out there that are like literal mass murderers, child abducters/abusers etc etc, while Mayhem in the old days were just silly kids getting in over their heads on ideas they had that went sour in multiple ways. Varg obviously has some screws loose (though he only did the bass for their first full length and had no other involvement), Euronomous obviously was someone who wanted to stand out, wanted to be feared and admired and was so obsessed with his image of being "evil". Faust wasn't a Mayhem member either (from Emperor) who obviously was in over his head too if he felt appropriate to stab someone even if they did want sex from him but again was a stupid kid and has since come back to express deep regret and disgust for his mindset at the time. And Dead was severely depressed, while enjoying Black Metal isn't necessarily an unhealthy thing to do (hell, it's my favourite music genre of all time and I'm the happiest person I've ever met) but it IS a bad idea for someone who is already severely depressed to be enabled by the music especially the band, which Mayhem back in the 90's was incredibly toxic for most people involved, again not because of the music, because of the stupid kids who wanted to cause controversy. They didn't begin the genre, they didn't end the genre, they were just the biggest splash Inbetween. And they helped Black Metal progress even further than it already had by that point, taking what Venom, Bathory and all the other proto Black Metal bands there were laid down and expanding on it, though loads of other BM bands were doing the same, Mayhem got big because of the controversies. I do really like Lords of Chaos as a movie even if it is dramatised and changed, it's a good film. (Also just want to clarify I'm not annoyed or trying to correct or anything 😅 you just brought up Black Metal which I'm very passionate about and wanted to talk about it) There's so much to the genre than just the Satanic stuff, loads of beautiful music and different ideas under the BM umbrella. I know you say you're not a fan but there's loads of sounds, styles and subject matter to explore within the genre.
@DrumdumsXtra2 күн бұрын
I appreciate your enthusiasm. And speaking of depressing music, it’s probably not a good idea to even get into Joy Division if you are a depressed type of person. That’s another one of my favorite bands. But yes, I’m sure there are even more dangerous bands, in black metal than mayhem, but they are definitely the most popular. And yes Faust was really disturbed as well as Varg.
@cookiesontoast99812 күн бұрын
@@DrumdumsXtra Well I didn't necessarily mean just Black Metal bands being more dangerous haha, just bands in general. I can't imagine what being at such a concert would be like. I've heard tell of many shows where things go terribly wrong, even when a band tours my city, however I've yet to attend one; apart from Arcturus announcing they were breaking up after their Melbourne show (which they did, and later reunited). Don't know if they're your vibe, but there's a video of Cattle Decapitation performing a few years ago where somebody in the crowd was stabbed, and security informed the band on stage. The look of shock on vocalist Travis's face is meme-worthy, and he graciously stopped the show right there.
