I successfully folded fitted sheets for months when working at a hotel. It's just arduous. All 4 corners on one finger, let the elastic flop then turn that semi-square into something that can hide inside the flat sheet, folding table necessary. Even the fancy hotel didn't seem to have any magic on that subject.

Most of my sales come from Banana Republic. They do have quality in their clothing and if you can find their higher end suits and dresses, you can make a good bit of money. Research the brand and see which pieces do well.

I have had a pair of St. John cream pants, size 14, for over a year that just won’t sell! I have had them priced at $25 for months now. Have you ever sold their pants? Do they just sell reallyyyyy slow? Appreciate any insights!
@JMSquaredVintage
@JMSquaredVintage 3 күн бұрын
hmm - not St. John pants, but I have sold other similarly high-end pants from classic designers (Carolina Herrera, etc). I think the thing to remember on pants is that those are usually the basic in most outfits, i.e. the plainest part. So - when it comes to splurging on luxury, that's usually the last place a person will invest (it's totally counter-intuitive - as you should be investing the most in your basics, BUT that's not how the consumer mindset typically works). So - make sure you've got all the keywords in your listing that you possibly can. Like, every descriptor (high-rise? Pleated front? Drapey? Fabric content? Ankle Length?) and every possible style keyword : Old Money Aesthetic, Quiet Luxury. Nautical, Resortwear Minimalist, Closet Staple, Capsule Wardrobe, etc. etc. The key, really, when selling, essentially, a high end basic and rising above all the other similar pants out there is being on top of as many searches as humanly possible. Pants will always be slower movers, but it's a numbers game - the more eyeballs you can get on them, the faster they'll move.

Is the western corduroy shirt a man's or woman's? Remind me of the button side please!
@JMSquaredVintage
@JMSquaredVintage 3 күн бұрын
It's men's! So - on a women's shirt, when being worn, the buttons are on the left side, so when you're looking at it on a hanger, the buttons will be attached on the right hand side. Men's, of course, the opposite. This shirt was pretty clearly a men's cut, but when in doubt, it's the easiest trick to figure out if it's men's or women's.

PLST is a clothing store in Japan. Can't believe you found a piece at the bins! Price it up and allow offers, someone will pay up for it. That Varvatos jacket is stunning! What a great pickup. I think JJill, Talbot's, Coldwater Creek, Soft Surroundings all use the same manufacturers so no surprise to find such similar clothing. I have 2 velvet tops, 1 SS, 1 J Jill that are identical except for color. Absolutely identical. All these stores have been sold to venture cap companies by now so not surprising newer styles will be the same....at least until the business is closed down so the real estate can be sold.

Interesting! I do love finding some small Japanese brands - I see quite a bit of them here. Good call on the SS/JJill note - I know Soft Surroundings and coldwater creek were together, but I had no idea the others were in the mix! All pretty great quality on all of their pieces though, and lots of similarities, so that tracks!

Me, I can fold a fitted sheet. I also press my sheets before folding them. My grandmothers both did this so I thought everyone did. My Mema taught me how to fold them but for the life of me I haven’t been able to teach my 12 year old son at all.

Well, first and foremost, thank you SO much for the kind words! I really am such a nerd for this stuff. I'm glad it's contagious! You know - that's not a bad idea.... It's a BIG topic (so big that there's an enormous cryptic system of symbols dedicated to fabric care...) but some baselines of different kinds of fabrics and how to care for them might be good... along with some stain removal hacks... I like it!
