Great video! You hit the nail about common sense. Where I live, we tend to lose electricity alot. On the mountain and trees come down. We had some winds the other day and lost electricity. The longest was 52 hours with no electricity. My neighbors were using their generators. I do have mountain water coming to my pond through a hose by gravity, which helps with flushing the toilets, watering the chickens, or even for dish washing.

I would like to know if it's a dedicated box to your well (ours is split between 3 other breakers). However, that's brilliant! Never would have thought to use wire terminals that way.

That's awesome! Thank you Miah! I realize that this is for emergency and obviously that is what you are using it for, this way you can really supervise the generator while someone else can see if the trough is full and move the hose to the next one that needs to be filled! Blessings!

Definitely generally want to test my generator now just to see what is required to hook it up and if we have everything we need etc. Sending love and light. Can't wait to hear about what's up with the shop... just saying lol😂❤

Why don’t you just drop some pipes and put a hand pump on it? No need for electricity for them. Sorry I’m just an old lady raised with a hand pump

I actually just talked with my son-in-law about this a couple of days ago. I just turned 51, so I didn’t grow up depending on a hand pump, but I did have relatives who lived very modestly - no electricity, etc - and remembering how they did things has been on my mind a lot lately.

My grandparents had an outdoor cast iron hand pump that put out ice cold water. Their house was eventually put on city water, but they kept the well pump. I loved standing there cranking up and down waiting for the water to come gushing out.

We are considered temperate and can go a year without snow depending upon elevation in which every 50' counts but folks can also have snow in the back yard with nothing sticking in the front; a "real snow" can drop 4" to 24" in a few hours or come down slower in 6-12 hours. Equally, we can have some cold snaps which take us from the low 40's (degree, F) to 0 or even negatives within 24 to 48 hours; we panic on a regional level at the mention of a snow flake but there are times snow is better than the alternative. Historically, people with wells have had an actual well house big enough to stand up in and move about, hold a portable generator, and small-ish electric heater whike being structurally sound enough to hold a snow load. Many had a window with heavy drape on the non-precipitation side or end; old, old school included a kerosene lantern hook and often a lantern ready to use without a hook with nom indow. Around here, people insulate thier well houses for winter's cold and summer's heat. Some of these preparations have fallen to the wayside in the past 20 years along with the understanding that a well doesnt mean free water without maintenance costs.

I try to always watch your videos, consistent or not I watch. I’m the same way I make plans then something else gets in the way. I live in central Florida about 30 miles north of Tampa. Everything is a mess here after Milton. There was a lot of flooding close to the coast and waterways. The Withlacoochee river is still rising. They expect it to crest today a week after the storm came through. Most homes outside the flood areas have gotten power back. The linemen are wading in water up to their neck trying to help. My house is on higher land away from any waterways and unscathed but my land is a mess with tops of trees and limbs. Vital things are safe and that’s what’s important. We move on we have been blessed with some cool weather to make the clean up a little easier. Hopefully I get my internet back today, I got power back on Saturday evening. We had a tree fall on the internet lines. Generator life is limited, I live rural so I’m on a well for water too.

Being authentic and honest is the most important and I think why millions of people have left network tv and come to KZbin. I use to give presentations at least 3 times a week and I had horrific anxiety. Shaking, sweating, dry mouth, just fighting full on panic the whole time. And finally someone told me to think of it as a gift I am giving. He said if you really imagine it to be a gift from you it would allow me to keep my humility and authenticity while still being present at the same time. It made me stop judging myself while I was doing it. While watching you I kept wanting to tell you this and to breath. I can only speak for myself, but I’m not watching because I need an expert on something, I’m watching because you look and sound like me. I stopped watch tv because the characters did not look or sound like me or like someone even human living a moderately normal life. This new post Covid world is different. People are hungry for truth, honesty, humility, kindness. You have that in spades. So let that be your gift in whatever you are showing us.
