One of my favorite experiences and most moving, was our time spent drumming at Congo Square in New Orleans on our way from Florida back to Arizona.
Not only was it humbling and beautiful to get to drum in such a historical space, but the drum community there welcomed us with open arms and invited us to play with them and make music together.
If you find yourself in New Orleans - make sure you head to Congo Square on Sunday to listen or play. You will thank yourself later.
If you are interested in supporting this incredible community to help them continue to bring this experience to the next generations as living history - please consider making a donation to the Congo Square Preservation Society or if you want to learn more about the history here - visit their website: www.congosquar...

I'm very touched by your telling of how the drum circle felt to you on an emotional level. I lived in New Orleans in the mid-70's as a young woman. I had similar feelings about so many experiences I had there. I never wanted to leave but life changes! Lively yourself up and thanks for sharing your experience ❤
