I was born in 1960 in Australia...but my parents chose not to have a TV in our house except for radios. So, most of my TV watching became something of a treat when visiting my grandparents place during annual Christmas school holidays. I think it was in 1979 when they eventually brought one which was because my father's father moved in due to his elderly age, plus my grandmother had passed away at that time. As you can see, I wasn't a child anymore myself but an older teenager now working. Over the years I had seen small snippets of John Farnham and heard him on the radio with hits like "Saide the cleaning Lady" and "Rain drops keep falling on my head". My first job in the late 70s was with David Jones (retail) on Hunter Street Newcastle and also at Garden City (Kotara) where I worked in fresh produce at the time. At Garden City which is a shopping complex mall they often had visiting performers drop by to provide entertainment which John Farnham did on one occasion. As you can imagine for me it was like royalty had dropped by to entertain everyone and even more special when he said hello to me when they were setting up their stage. At that stage in his musical journey, it was before he became more popular with the "Little River Band" which really kicked his musical journey into gear. Well done, John Farnham for lasting the distance I just brought your Movie "Finding the Voice" which I will watch and can relate too. 😀

It absolutely pains me talentless muppets like kylie minoque made it ‘big’ overseas yet this generational talent with the best voice we have ever heard, and an absolute top bloke, did not - having good management helps eh….

Thank you so very much for this - being one of John’s generation I absolutely adore this man, the best male voice we have ever heard - bar none. This show did John and Glen complete justice.

His Doco is on Netflix. I cried & cried. Watched it again and cried again. John you ARE a Legend a bloody Aussie one mate. John my family have watched u since (sorry) Sadie and we met u at a pantomime u did at Parramatta League’s club “ puss n boots” my sister & I used to fight who got ur picture signed first and one day my mum said “ for goodness sake’s I got the bloody 6 of them done” lol. I still love “ one” and play it often. My fathers eyes welled up when u sung “help” the only time after that was when Balmain lost the grand final after being 12pnts ahead at half time. There’s 5 girls in our family and we have been to ur concerts and between us all have all your music. I cried when I saw u with Coldplay especially when u were singing and I felt u were soooo happy to see the younger generation singing with you. Dunno if u will ever see this but thank you for sharing ur voice with us. Jill & family thanks for sharing ur hubby & dad for many concerts…. Love from a true fan Jane……. I hope John you will just relax now and be that hubby & dad. Lots of love thoughts & prayers coming ur way. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍻🥇🎬

Just watched this in NZ last night. So incredibly moving and inspiring. Growing up in the 80’s I thought John just came onto the charts at that time - I had no idea the struggles he went through with trying to get his music recognised! I feel the industry needs a massive makeover - talent should always be nurtured, artists should always be given space to evolve through the different experiences and stages of their career with support - the best ones have always endured many changes. I saw John in Chch some years back and he was the standout of the concert - absolutely amazing vocals and stage presence. Sending you love, good health and much respect John - from a fellow singer and writer 💐✨💜☺️

Who else discovered this song from the Merlin BTS videos? Seeing Bradley and Colin sing this was awesome, this was even better. Such a powerful song, sung by a very talented man. I wish I had found this back in the early 90's it is the best power ballad I have ever heard.

I know this post probably will not reach John, but I have to write it in here. I was in my teen years (now I am 50+), living in one of the "post soviet republics" and I do not recall how I managed to hear on the radio "You Are the Voice" (English songs were prohibited). I just started to learn English so I did not understand a word. I could hum the melodie a bit, but starting to loose it. What I remember is that amazing voice but could not connect it to any of the singers I knew. I did not hear that song since until NOW. I did it by a chance by browsing a YT! I am so happy that I found you, John. I know it took me so long but it is never too late. Now I can learn more about you and your songs. Wish you all good....and thank you!

JF pushing Labors 'Voice'? OK, so what about what the architects of the Voice themselves? Their own public statements tell us what it would be! Thomas Mayo stood next to the PM when he announced the referendum wording and he sits on the PM's Referendum Working Group which drafted the referendum question. Mayo published his book titled "The Voice to Parliament Handbook". His signature is on the Uluru Statement and he has spent 18 months travelling around Australia trying to talk Australians into changing the Constitution to include the Voice. He is a union official and self-described “militant” on record as saying the Voice will “punish politicians”, “abolish colonialist institutions” and “pay the rent, pay reparations and compensation”. Rather than the Voice being the “inspiring and unifying Australian moment” and "modest request" described by the PM, Mr Mayo told a Communist conference “there is nothing that we can do that is more powerful than building a first nations’ Voice, a black institution, a black political force to be reckoned with”. At a 2021 "Invasion Day" protest he described “the powers that be” as “murderers”, and said he was “sick of governments not listening to our voice” so planned “to use the rulebook of the nation to force them”. At Black Lives Matter protests and other addresses he reveals the Voice’s radical origins in the Search Foundation which describes itself as the “successor organisation of the Communist Party of Australia”.
