Yes, unfortunately due to a problem with the fuel bowser at North Weald we didn’t have enough fuel to do that going into France. We used Troyes for customs last year, they are very good, it’s a fantastic airfield 😁 LFAT is good if you need flexibility on timing.

Yes… we kept a bunch of “legacy” instruments and fit when we did the upgrades, but some is definitely on the list to get pulled out now.

What a coincidence! Aviation is a small world!

The 2023 model in the fleet has a master guard, this one (early NG) requires a pull out on the switch (similar to most gear selectors) to move between on/off. I suspect the switch is the same part as in the DA42. The guard is a good protection but we have a briefing note to make sure it is always closed except when in use as they are easy to catch with a foot getting in or out of the aircraft and once broken there is no protection to accidental operation until it’s replaced. Diamond seem to have strengthened the part recently though as the last one that has gone on seems more robust.

One of the fleet is 28 gallons and the later one has the extended range. They are rarely used though, but a really good option for long distance touring.

Gloucester is a great GA airfield for sure. We are really fortunate to have Kemble close by as well which is another great GA location.

Garmin Pilot as it interfaces very nicely with the avionics (Foreflight also does this) but also makes updating the databases in the GPS175 and GI275’s very easy 👍

Was a bit more bumpy than the camera shows, but nothing major. I think it has a lot to do with whether it is something developing rapidly or not. You can see these had tops probably up to about 12/13000 but they were not visibly growing. We had the TKS running before going in, so difficult to predict if you’d pick up ice non-FIKI

The unit was circa $4000 with all the options and I think around £800 to install in the UK

We are using a RAM mount which attaches to the control column behind the yoke. If you need the specific setup and parts I can probably did them out for you 👍
