I'm saving for this one. I love the dial, the hands, the ceramic bezel, the indexes, the engraving on the back. I love how it is sporty and dressy at the same time. Unless I change my mind this is going to be my first luxury piece.

Great watch , I absolutely love it , although I noticed that I would have liked the option of having some micro adjustment on the bracelet . I know that there is the option of upgrading to the PO clasp , but as I own the 36 mm it’s not possible as it only fits the 41mm

1) I don’t know why so many people are comparing Omega to Tudor, as Omega is in a much higher league to me. I guess it’s just “the Rolex thing”. 2) I like the contrasting black date wheel against the blue dial actually. 3) I have 3 Omega’s with 2500C movements, and they are equally the most accurate watches I've ever owned, with no problems whatsoever.
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
Tudor are very well made and there are certain models which surpass Omega IMO. However you can't go wrong with any of these watches

Tudor really is well made. The aesthetics, however, just never felt right to me. I love parts of the aesthetics, but not as a whole.

Tudor isn't on the same level as Omega. Especially with Omega's new movements

Compare Tudor Pelagos with this Omega. Tudor is less popular brand which is a good thing. You are not paying for Bond advert but for actual watch. I would go with Tudor any day.

You might actually hate the new one introduced @ Baselworld 2018, they did exactly what you were warning about: - In-house movement - 42.5 mm - Wavy dial WITH skeleton hands - Got rid of the sea horse - 4.400€
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian. Initially I was against it, but I'm now keeping my thoughts to seeing one for real and making up my mind. I just can't see it being as versatile as the one we know now.
@christianbeckemeier42366 жыл бұрын
Watch Hobbyist I just bought the "old" one, so I am more than ready to s**t all over the new one, just to fend of buyer's remorse, I guess. I would have loved seeing the new one with the exact same design, MAYBE the new in-house movement in 42.5mm. Not to sure about the size on my own.
@simonw27506 жыл бұрын
I have tried the Baselworld version and they have absolutely lost the versatility of the diver/dress watch combination. The VP of marketing for Omega says very proudly that 'this is a pure divers watch', which rather overlooks the fact that, I would guess, 99% of people who buy it are not professional divers. The small percentage that are professional divers I would equally posit would like a watch that they could wear with a suit as well, so they will be buying the Rolex Submariner from now on instead, which does both brilliantly (as does the Omega reviewed above). Aesthetically, as well, the wave design has been ramped up in a crude fashion, and has writing on it, not the subtle wave design previously, which caught the light interestingly. The only thing that they should have done, in my opinion, to make the aforementioned Omega better was to include the micro-adjustable clasp, rather than cause the annoyance of having to get it changed. As for accuracy, this Omega, and my other vintage dress Omega Seamaster (inherited) gain 0.3 second per day, in whatever position I leave them overnight, whereas my Rolex Datejust gains 1.5 seconds per day.

when I found out Omega where increasing the size, this pushed me into buying the 41mm version before they sell out.
@christianbeckemeier42366 жыл бұрын
Me myself, I got the previous model at a huge discount, while completely forgetting about BaselWorld. I regret nothing. The new dial is too "busy" and although I love seeing the inner workings of a timepiece, the new model is, IMHO skipping heritage.

I bought the blue Omega Seamaster Professional Ceramic just before Christmas and I absolutely love it! I also got a blue Omega Speedmaster rubber strap (Ref: 98000210) with deployment clasp for it and I have started to prefer it to the steel bracelet as I find it looks great with casual attire like jeans and is much more comfortable too. For more formal occasions I switch back to the steel bracelet.

Great quality watch for the money especially pre owned, was going to pick one up but got the older version (the electric blue) because of the following I didn't like the skeleton hands but more so the bracelet looks like a piece of jewelry competing with the head of the watch far to busy,but then again the ultimate is to wear them to give the watch a chance but not always possible especially at these prices.

Great review! I actually bought this as my first luxury piece back in December! Mine seems to be +2.5 seconds a day. I know it's not rated to master chronometer anti-magnetic standards, but do you know if it offers ANY resistance to magnetism?
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't believe there's too much in the way of Anti-Mag in these. The new version announced at Basel last week will have Silicone parts etc, but the model in this video is a decorated ETA movement so I doubt there will be any iron shields etc.

Depends on your wrist size. Go try them on. I have this version and it wears perfectly on my wrist. The new 2018's case takes up all of my wrist and I didn't like the size. The quality is amazing, though. I'm happy with my non-wave dial SMPc!

In my Opinion the best looking Divers are the Seamaster 300 and the Seiko New Turtle Padi but the SKX have a nice Dial too but a extreme bad Movement. And the best is, they are much the same accurate the Seamaster is till 1,6 secs per day and my Seiko New Turtle 2,5 Secs per day. Both have hacking. The Rolex Submariner have not so a nice Case and because of all the Hommage Watches out there it looks a bit cheap for me. Same with Sea Dweller.

I'm really torn on the seamaster. The version you have here is the one I like by far the most because it is THE seamaster of my generation and the first ever luxury watch that caught my interest. And only the blue version of it interestingly. The black SMPc does nothing for me. The 2018 version however, I like in black. And it is the better watch compared to this one, no doubt. Though I'm not sure about the youthful, playful look of the new wave pattern on the dial. I feel like it might be a little too much for me. Now, logically I should just opt for the older version then, but I'm not certain about a blue watch being my potential only watch. Heck, blue isn't even my favorite color and for that reason alone I should just go with the black one, but I cannot quite put my finger on what it is with the SMPc in blue that calls out to me. I usually always go for black because it's easier to match with my wardrobe. What's your take on the 2018 version? And what do you think as a blue watch (or, well, this particular blue SMPc) being an only watch? How does it handle different kinds of attire? I'm really unsure of what to do. Fantastic video though, as always!
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
I was torn at first as well. The older model is amazing, but recently I also looked at the new black model and it makes the older one feel ancient! I was surprised. If it wears well, I'd go for the latest one; it's not a watch that will increase in value in any shape or form, so you need to choose the one that appeals the most.

I bought my blue ceramic SMP300 in December 2012. Two months later I accidentally dropped it when I was trying to wear it while comming down the stairs. It hit the granite steps with a loud thud, bounced two steps down and came to a stop. I thought it was the end of the watch. When I picked it up I expected to see a shattered crystal. No, it was there without a scratch. There was a "huge" dent in the case, that is way too big to be polished off. I expected the seconds hand to be frozen. No, it was moving. I decided to check it's accuracy the next day before I took it to the AD. It was only 3 seconds off !!! I reset the time in my watches only if I see an error of over one minute. With the SMP300 it happens once every two weeks. If it was a Rolex Sub with a jewel mounted (silent) winding rotor, I know what would have happened. Who needs a G Shock !😆😆😆
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
I dropped a Speedy once. Heart stopper of a moment but these watches are luckily built tough. The dent could be laser filled so check out local watch makers to see if anyone offers the service. They fill the gap and then polish back down so it looks as new. Good to see the ceramic bezel and auto movement held up, but Rolex are much tougher than you think too.
@em-42976 жыл бұрын
Watch Hobbyist Many thanks for the advice on laser filling. I will check on it. I do hope Rolexes are as tough. I have a new Datejust 36mm on my rotation. But after the SMP "incident" I am a bit more careful with my watches. But accidents do happen, don't they? Cheers.
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
Mandy G It’s rare they happen but it’s down to the impact point I’d imagine. If the watch had landed on the crown, it may have been a different story etc. Clearly from our experience, omega are doing something right though 😊
