Re tripods I find sometimes the squirrels are wary of them Ive had many a red arguing with a tripod, shouting at it and flicking its tail.

Good to see you using the speedigimbel, it's brilliant, no need for a tripod anymore, unless your after really slow shutter speeds.

Hi Dan I see that the “dynamic duo” is back together again so at least there is one proper photographer in the video 🤣 I really hope Pops is keeping well after his health issues 🙂 .... despite his son’s cruelty 🤣 The Monal looks like an excellent hide for 2 people. I’m looking forward to seeing it in use. Tragopan do seem to produce some excellent kit. Coincidentally, I have just bought the Tragopan Grouse (single person) hide (plus a Tragopan chair) via Simon Eardley’s Tragopan shop which I will be using very shortly for the first time for my local Red Fox project 🙂 That additional scrim netting and natural vegetation is a good tip …. I am going to do that 🙂 Richard

Good luck with the new hide venture, great to see Pops getting exited. Had a visit to Simon Eardsly’s hide last week, brilliant set up and incredibly high end build quality right down to the sheep’s wool insulation. Never seen so many Jay’s and Woodpeckers and had a great time honing my BIF skills. Dave.

I hope you get plenty of visitors to your hide. I use the Tragopan Grouse and the Lagapus and find them both excellent well made hides. Its a waiting game as you know but its cosy and with some food and drink no better way to spend time. My last Buzzard took 7 hrs to come onto the perch but was worth the wait.

Hi Dan, great video and nice to see Pops too. I finally got to Scotland wildlife Hides. Two buzzards turned up sat in the trees and then left maybe they were spooked. But we had sparrow hawks so wasn’t so bad after all.

I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting footage from the hide. I love hide photography, and I think the slot in the side walls to allow the leg of your tripod to be outside the hide is a great idea. Someone has put some thought into that addition. My only concern is that your fishing seats and possibly the hide will not be there the next time you turn up. I genuinely hope I'm wrong. It's good to see Pops back in action.👍

Had the same kind of setup in a private woodland for two years then the yobs found it, took the trail cam, two folding chairs and damaged the hide so just because you have it screwed down does not g/tee it's safe. Good luck with the venture hope it works as well as ours did.

Hi Dan, just a quick note that I saw being mentioned in another youtuber’s video, is that rodents got inside and started chewing parts of the hide. So this is something to consider if you are going to leave it up for as long as you are planning.

I live in the forested northern Michigan, and we can have several reds AND several greys at the feed piles at the same time. Along with the chipmunks, black-capped chickadees, nuthatches, blue jays, and the adorable tufted titmice. The chickadees fly millimeters from our bodies. We absolutely love the sound of their wings. I have thousands of photos of a particular 30 acre chunk of sugar and striped maple, hop hornbeam (locals call it ironwood), hemlock, balsam fir, basswood, and cedar with about a dozen other tree species. It’s a dune ecosystem. The red squirrels are our favorite friendly furry/feathered forest friends. ✌🏼💚
