Yeah i did go for the Rugged west, I went for their D pocket because pattern seemed right and it ended up amazing from second try. First one went wrong and they got it fixed no problem at all. Im really happy with it. Quite heavy jacket that doesn’t feel heavy on the body as the pattern sits well. I hope to find some vintage aviator in future first i need to save up. I see them on Etsy sometimes and probably that will be way to go for me. Aero 30s half belt is really impressive, probably i could save up for it whit-in a year or two. Really helpful video

This was a great help. I've been lurking on Ebay for some decent deals...I plan to get an Aero Hooch Hauler at some point, but want to ease in with a decent used/vintage piece for now. Good to know I'm not far off at least. Thanks!

My dad was working at a mortuary before I was born. Some dude wearing a “Brando,” was on a motorcycle with a full helmet. He crashed. A rock hit him perfectly in between the jacket, and helmet. Killed him. No blood though. My dad kept the jacket. Becoming little punk rock kids, my brother, and I took it.

Wish they had a more expressive collar roll on their button downs. Otherwise their products look good. I have a roped denim western shirt and their higher waist straight chinos. Both are sturdy and well made.

Agree with others, it’s fair trade and if they do factory visits and keep checking up then it’s not a big deal. Ppl need to travel and see other parts of the world before assuming anything about where things are made and that stuff made here are OK. Look up pots and pans, 3M…but appreciate the debate and somewhat open minded conversation. We that.

Your channel is really helpful! I’m also 5’7” and after weighing the same weight for most of my adult life, in my mid-40s have put on 20 pounds, so am now trying to figure out how to dress in a slightly different shaped body. Are you able to say your weight in this video as a reference point? Thanks for the great content.

Flannels are the only reason I thrift shop these days besides looking for books. I wear flannels and jeans all year round. I like flannels for the different colors and weights. My favorite is the Brixton Bowery flannel. They are good in the cold and work on the summer as well. I mostly go for browns and tans as to not get too hot in the sun. Some Bowery's are lighter weight, flimsy, the originals are good, I like the fabric.

I live thru humid sub-tropical summers thinking the same, until I discovered some paper-thin wife beaters, some linen/cotton short-sleeves shirt, and made good use of clippers/pins/elastic strings to shape and hold the top layer.

I still cant figure out how to tuck in my flannels without them bunching and looking sloppy. Also, some people do give up in summer and just wear shorts. . .I am some people. Too damn hot in summer in southern California for me to bother. Lol

@strengthandbulkMadness , ya it looks like that if I'm wearing a shorter jacket, which is why I feel like I can't wear them together, but if without a jacket, feels more like I'm wearing an untucked shirt than a skirt . . .because it's a shirt.

Flannel shirts are great. Not underrated. Maybe expensive flannels are, IDK. I prefer to stick to Carhartt - not the softest, but very hard wearing - and splash out on wool garments. I’m working on a denim shirt currently and do find it fun as it goes through its phases. Basically, jeans for your top. It’s great. I wonder if some guys are reticent about the double denim thing and then lean towards flannel instead? Another option I can recommend are tattersall shirts. Sort of a British country look. But very nice under sweaters and tweed jackets.

I just pick up "vintage" (ie 2nd/3rd/4th hand) chamois and wool shirts by Woolrich, LL Bean, Field & Stream, Pendleton whenever I come across them for decent price. I'll often double up on them or wear a wool jumper underneath/over the top. If i'm going to be out in the brush or anything then the flannel is a bit tougher against the scraps and scrapes than the wool is (unless its that heavyweight overshirt wool). I find the price of most first hand flannel shirts absolutely nonsensical. I've picked up nice shirts for anything between 50 cents and 30 dollars and they last for decades.
@strengthandbulkMadness6 күн бұрын
I see guys wearing some type of fleece vest over a dress shirt at the office. I’m thinking flannel shirts would look nicer so I just wear a flannel. I tried the vest over regular dress shirts but doesn’t make sense if it’s going to be hidden.

In my experience texture is king, and love my Sashiko Ori, Moleskin, and Kersey often more than my UHF's. Denim and Chambray being top of the lost as well. I own a bunch of Iron Heart, but ironically only one of their flannels, and it's a slubby. I love my UES flannels.
@hiding_my_name6 күн бұрын
You buy directly from UES? I just did this, and you save like $50+ dollars. Buy directly from Japan when you can, it's soooo much more affordable. I just picked up a pair of ONIs for like 180 bucks as opposed to the 225-325 people be charging in the states.

Agreed. Textured garments just make everything look better and more interesting while not having to be flashy. Just got my sashiko ori from Ship John and its a beast. I also seem to get compliments on my kersey shirt from IH everytime I wear it.
@hiding_my_name6 күн бұрын
@michaelshearer3559 yeah no problem. I was hesitant because the UES website and the BEARS' websites are out dated and look kinda sketchy, but I purchased from both and they are legit. I've formed a relationship with a number of the online stores in the states that sell high quality denim, but I can't pass by the savings I get ordering from Japan.

I would add moleskin to this. Could maybe lump it in with flannels since it’s brushed, but it seems to have a bit more structure. Indigofera makes a great one. On wool sweaters, they’re not all as scratchy as people say. I have like 5, I wear them most of the year (it’s cold here) and only 1 of those is itchy to the point I need a base layer. Aran Sweater Market and Howlin Knitwear make very soft wool sweaters.
@iuhuh101106 күн бұрын
I also love sweaters because it’s like wearing a blanket. I wear a sweater to work or out doing whatever and I’m cozy all day. It’s just a bonus that they also look great.
