Awesome Matt, I just finished watching Scotty and yourself on the 2024 Carnage wrap up this morning and I come home from work and see one of yours. Big kudos to you as well, getting a mid mount PowerPoint out WITHOUT a hoist. Well Done!Great to see there's consistent compression too, meaning that it's likely healthy, like you said. Lasr thing you want in terms of expense and limited time is having to rebuild a block and components, which also inevitably leads to expensive head work as well as most people take the opportunity when the head is off. Looking forward to the next one changing the timing belt and seals. Are you going to get the injectors professionaly cleaned and flow tested or are you going to have a go at cleaning them yourself?
@TheNuggetProject2 күн бұрын
Thanks legend appreciate the kind words :) Yeah i really didn't want to rebuild this engine, so i'm stoked that it sees happy, i think with all the service items done, new fuel pump, fresh fuel and fluids it will run really well. As for the injectors i've actually already got them sorted! if you have a look at the last episode i took them to maxx performance up the road from the carnage workshop and they cleaned and flow tested the and they came up great, so i put new seals on them and they are already in and good to go :)

Compression tests are usually done with all the plugs out. Doing it with them in will give you different (low) results. To make it easier to move the engine on the floor, cut some thin metal rods and put them under the wood the engine is on. They act as rollers, you just have to grab them out from the back and put them to the front as you roll it out.
@TheNuggetProject3 күн бұрын
Ok interesting I've never done that, how does that work? The cylinders all are independent the only thing it would affect is the resistance in the starter miter as it would be fighting against compression on the other cylinders
@TheNuggetProject2 күн бұрын
Funnily enough the rods as rollers idea is exactly what i was planning! great minds think alike :)

Hey Matt, great videos. Just wanted to let you know that I used to have an AE82 Twin Cam 16 Corolla with the 4AGE, and when I used to give the engine bay a good clean, it would get a bit of water in the valley between the rocker covers. When this happened it would usually run on a couple of cylinders until the water evaporated or I mopped it up. So even if the injectors were good, having the water in with the spark plugs would make it miss and only run on a couple of cylinders. Keep up the good work..👌.
@TheNuggetProject9 күн бұрын
Ahhh good to know! Thanks for the info mate, sadly the water had been there for a long time and that 4th plug took a long time to get out! As you said though the day to day water will burn off with regular driving :)

@TheNuggetProject10 күн бұрын
@wilko3sgem unfortunately mate it's not as simple as that, this year my wife was working weekends so I had to look after the kids, basically no weekends free and therefore now racing. Also in terms of budgets, racing isn't cheap, for one weekend racing I can buy enough parts to work on one of these cars for weeks and keep myself sane. So short answer yes I'll get back into racing, but we have to change some things in our life first.
