The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is not only one of my favourite super hero games ever made, it’s one of my favourite games ever made. Such a shame Radical was shut down. They were one of the best developers stuck under an awful publisher :(

I will always miss Radical. I played hundreds of hours of Ultimate Destruction and Prototype as a kid. We desperately need a new Hulk (or Prototype) game that expands on Radical's formula (Hulk 2008 doesn't count lol). Awesome interview!

Ultimate destruction, hit and run AND prototype? This man basically made every game that made my childhood awesome. Not sure if it's been me trying to look it up more or simply the game itself finding a resurgence of sorts in people's interest but I've been noticing a lot more prototype-focused content as of late. Prototype 1's (PS4) gameplay reminded me of the movie-based game The Incredible Hulk (PS3). When I then heard that the same devs had made a Hulk game, it all made sense.

11:05 what's funny is that now Hulk can sorta do these things too. In the Immortal Hulk run we've had body horror transformations, and the system of alters working together (in a tentative truce) towards the same goal and even able to swap forms somewhat on the fly as the situation demands. Plus, Devil Hulk has straight up absorbed a man while reforming his body, so... Essentially like consuming people in Prototype? Also Joe Fixit now inhabits a Bruce-like body but is every bit as cunning and ruthless so honestly you could even work military vehicle hijacking into an Immortal Hulk inspired Ultimate Destruction 2 if you really wanted to.

Interesting insight mate, don’t know if Hulk could’ve mirrored every skill Merced has though? Like shapeshifting and absorbing humans and monsters.

@@GameBrainOfficial oh yeah of course, there are some abilities (and even fighting styles) very exclusive to Mercer/Heller and then vice versa. But I do believe that if a sequel to UD were to be made, the developers would have a bit more freedom for varied gameplay mechanics than one would initially think if they draw inspiration from recent comic runs.

Elbow drop is my favorite attack against bigger enemies in hulk, i mean, ran up the building as high as i can and elbow drop them. And missile silo is my favorite weapon. I always thought its a pity i need to waste half of the silo and only use half of it

Chris Brownie I Firmly believe that Alex Mercer from prototype 2 would consume any and all superheroes, antiheroes and villains from all Video game/comic book universes. Maybe not the dragon ball Z universe but still, I bet Alex could consume Dr. Banner and have his gamma effects making him into the hulk then infiltrating and eventually killing all the Avengers then eventually consuming and becoming both cosmic silver surfer and Galactis. To me what Alex said at the end of prototype 1 was true, “Alex Mercer was just a role I played”. I don’t even refer to Alex as Alex anymore. I call him the Virus because he is the Virus. He could spread any where and to anyone he wants the most. If I were him I would consume Dr. Doom.

I know you usually seem to focus on positive aspects of games in your videos, but I'd be curious to see if you could dig up some info and do a video on what went wrong with battlefield 5. @@GameBrainOfficial That would certainly be interesting to see! As someone who had played all the battlefields before 5, it was the first I haven bought. It seemed that there was something odd going on with this one, from the start they had a strange trailer that got a lot of backlash for its strange version of ww2, a buggy release that was light on content (and didnt get better until the pacific dlc, at which point they cut their losses), and it seemed like the game struggled to have an identity. It got patches that changed the gun damages entirely, seeming to make the game easier for new players, which made the gunplay worse and upset dedicated players. Then reverting completely back to the old system. There may not be much of a story there tbh, I dont know. It may just have been short production time + limited resources, but I think it left a lot of people scratching their heads at what was going on over at Dice. It might be interesting to get an inside look at what happened. It also makes me think that in a few years when cyberpunk has run its course, it would make an interesting story too.

I think I agree, Hulk Ultimate Destruction is such a genuinely underrated game. 'Underrated' gets thrown around a lot, but it earns that title. Shocking that other superhero games havent been given the same treatment.

Would you consider checking out a PC game called Captain Claw? It's a 2D side-scroller platformer with a pirate cat, made by Monolith in 1997. It has a story and animated cutscenes too. And in my opinion it doesn't have the recognition it deserves. The game was never released on platforms such as Steam or GOG due to copyright issues, so it probably has the same situation like the the No One Lives Forever series, unfortunately. The Claw community is still active even today, after 24 years thanks to a Monolith fansite called The Claw Recluse. Also, there are gaming studios such as Nightdive who try to bring old games "back to life" , and I think that is pretty awesome and more people should know about and support them. They can do only so much currently.

So I usually chip away at videos until I give in and admit defeat (aka publish it). But short answer is no, I do these videos in my spare time from a full time reporting job, so I only give myself time to make these when I can. Some videos takes literally half a year, others a few weeks if things fall the right way. It's all very random! The dream would be getting enough of a following to launch a Patreon and then commit to regular uploads and go full time on the channel, but who knows when that'll be! Happy holidays my friend!

Man, and the added bonus for this is that the game is also a sequel to the 2003 hulk movie along with gamma games and the 2003 game, so even if hulk 2003 today has no movie sequel, of the moment if they change there mind, it has one thing not even mcu has, comic and game sequels ahahahahhahahahahah and with variety of facing much bigger competitions and characters that are not getting any spotlight, its really cool.

Prototype simply did not have the effort, atmosphere, or amount of layered depth in the moves, destruction, enemies. It was like an empty gta. Just to try out moves. With HUD I felt like I was stepping into the ring every time the city loaded. People did not want you to live in that game 😂 it actually gave you a reason to use those moves
