From germany living in basel. Have similar experiences with beeing "welcomed" in switzerland. Although it is not easy to get close with local people, I have to say they try mostly their best. Swizz peolpe are super polite and respectful. With all the the diffrerent nationalities in cities the people will get more open I think and the younger generations really welcome that in my experience. I think it is a great country with nice people. And I have to say as a german that germans also like to complain a lot. =)

Switzerland must be among the dumbest countries in the world. inviting to a "peace summit" and then only allowing one of the parties to attend. HAHA DUMB SWISS PEOPLE (enjoy your overrated Toblerone)

Hello Claudia and Jan, I am bachelor in Physics and Mathematics, member of the Swiss Mathematical Society (offices at ETH Zurich, where Albert Einstein studied)I have published formulas at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology USA, I discovered when I was a student . They have been downloaded around 317 times from : Yale university, university of Toronto, university of Adelaide, University of Massachusetts, Norwegian university of Science and Technology and more; Russia, France, Singapore , China, Finland, England, Italy and more. I wanted to move to Switzerland, but it's very very difficult to get a job. I live in Mexico and Mexican Universities don't want to hire me by envy. Since many years ago I have sent emails to several Mexican Universities applying to work as a teacher and don't reply. I can't leave of Mexico for lace of money, I work as a viigilant and earn . around $354 USA .

I had an interview with a company in Zürich last week and one of the interviewers told me that if Swedes has a 2 meter rule (for not interacting with other people) then the Swiss have a 5 meter rule! That's how introvert Swiss are (apparently). Still, I go clubbing, I like day-raves (dancing), I'm social, speak german and I am sort of an extrovert, so I see this opportunity, should I get this job, as a "challenge accepted" to make Swiss friends... 😁😅 Thanks for the video guys, you're awesome!

Very interesting. I’m in a different city, 1.5k stabilised rent (not Genossenschaft) and 2 BR, washer/dryer, dishwasher. Glad I didn’t choose Zürich for me… but this apartment is quite ok price-wise (for Zürich especially, two bathrooms, views, washer/dryer). Love your videos! ❤

I believe you have only taken into account the deductions which you see on your salary receipt.. AHV, Pensionfund, unemployment insurance... and not Bundes/Kantonsteuer which you have to pay in addition when you file your annual tax returns. That is another 20% off your Brutto income, your post-tax income is really around 5K.

Thank you Claudia and Jan for making this video, very much appreciated! In order to contribute to the discussion, I'll share my experience living and working in Switzerland. I finished my master's degree last September and started working as an analytical chemist at a lab located at the edge of the Kanton, bordering with Aargau. Total gross compensation is 82600 Chf (split into 13 salaries) and including monthly food money. I think I'm incredibly lucky to have low fixed costs of 1320 Chf/month (rent in a flat share + health insurance). I ride my bicycle to work and split my food shopping between Migros and Aldi. Those are my costs living a 15 min train ride away from Zürich Hbf. I woud probably need an extra 1000 Chf/month if I lived in the city center.
