It’s really good to see Mazda get some good sales and really show they can compete! I remember being a kid and loving the RX-8 and the passion from Mazdas cars. I currently own Toyota products but I will admit their very questionable political and product changes has soured the taste a little….. now the CX-50 Hybrid is a real car I’d consider replacing my current Toyota with! Good to see Mazda doing well!!

For decades I was a Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, and Infiniti fan boy. I leased a 2018 Mazda6 Signature and then a ‘20 CX-9 GT. We current own a ‘22 CX-5 Signature and love it. I knew the Miatas were great. I’ve owned 6 since 2001 and currently own a ‘21 Club RF BBR…but their family sized vehicles are also excellent. They have Lexus quality at a Toyota/Honda price. Way to go Mazda! They seem to be the only car company that listens to the customer and gives them what they want.

Count me as one of those sales this year! Bought a 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium in October. With the rocky launch of the CX-90/CX-70 (people are NOT loving those transmissions...), I figured this will give me 4-5 years of waiting to see how the new CX-5 Hybrid shakes out. Absolutely loving the car and hoping that the hybrid version will bring an equal amount of power with fuel economy closer to 30mpg.

We sometimes forget how small Mazda is, as a company. But here's my suggestions for them anyways. SHORT TERM (1 yr): To continue pushing sales, I'd like to see them revisit some of their paint color choices. They have a couple beautiful colors. But the others often look really flat. The entire line, even the blue, black and white, should be as beautiful as Soul Red Crystal. And I'd like the 3 and CX30 to get a mild refresh until a replacement is available. MEDIUM TERM (2 yr): bringing hybrids is really important. As is clarifying some of the weirdness in their lineup, like the CX70. I feel like they should have just brought the CX-60/80 from Japan/Europe instead. Maybe they can correct that, or maybe the CX-5 will be the gap filler. LONG TERM: (3+yr) * Id like to see a Mazda 6 that is about the size of the Camry, based upon the new CX-5 hybrid. The prior 6 was too large compared to its competitors and I'd love a wagon version. Seems like Mazda is niche enough to be able to handle that body style. * A pickup is a great idea, Kirk. The Ford Maverick is successful not just because its inexpensive and has a hybrid option, but also because its not raised. Its more of what pickups used to be in height and length - ie. garageable. That's an underserved segment of the truck market, and very desirable for businesses. Mazda has a truck (other parts of the world) but its based on the Ford Ranger, and very tall. Bringing that to the USA would be a mistake for a new Mazda pickup IMO. They need to think smaller, shorter, and inexpensive to buy, drive, and maintain. That was the B2000.

Any chance Mazda’s non-Toyota, “new hybrid” system will be the gas rotary power generator system Mazda has had “under development” for years?
@markcoopers1930
@markcoopers1930 Ай бұрын
I don't think so. The rotary generator you see in the mx30 overseas, and The SP concept, will likely be included on a dedicated platform. It is much more likely we will see this paired to a four-cylinder. They've largely partnered with Panasonic for their CX-70/80/90 phev tech, and so they are likely just working on an adaption to either the new 8-speed or the existing 6 speed transmission to handle standard hybrid activity in small platforms

I think they will keep growth in 2025. They go their own way, even with only few hybrid products, that provides results. Interesting, what do you think about their new engine 2.5L skyactive-G 140HP, for 3 and cx-30 (for Europe only, as I understand), it should be cheap and has pretty good fuel economy, just very unusual comparing to other 1.2/1.5 turbocharged engines in this segment.

I've got my Snickers and my Coke Zero and I'm buckled in !!! Let's go !!! Kirk, I'm happy for Mazda. As an urban city dweller, cars with ICEs are the only option. I like small cars too. If I had to buy a car today it would be the Mazda 3 hatchback. There are couple small problems with it, however, The cabin is dark and dank, due to the high belt line, thick C pillar, and the black or burgundy colored interior. I would prefer a white interior color option, on the roof liner too, to reflect ambient light and to mitigate the confined, closed in space. Again, as I said ad nauseam, the worst feature of most new cars today are the cheap plastic infotainment screens from the toy aisle at Walmart. Mazda's infotainment screen is no better. When you're looking out the windshield, out into the real world before you, Mazda's infotainment screen sits so high and in the way that it's impossible to ignore. It's a cheap appendage which looks glued on top of the dash. It's got to disappear. If I wanted to look at a computer screen for hours, I would stay home and used my laptop. I recently drove the new Toyota Prius and the infotainment screen was so in my face it was like scratching on a chalkboard. It was impossible to ignore. There's a way to integrate digital technology that's unobtrusive. Think Audi TT. It's nearly flawless. Enough of my rant. Stay awesome, Kirk. Happy New Year to you and your family !!! To good health and happiness.

Having .25 inch bigger front and rear break and no torsion beam carbon non turbo and 6mt hatch and up the line. The same with adding a battery, hell yes! If you look at the Mazda 3 trim, the Mazda 3 starts roughly around where a Corolla or Civic starts. The upper trims go well above where the regular Civic and regular Corolla go while offering more power, awd, leather interior, heated seats and steering wheels, etc. All models regardless of interior materials generally have a well laid out design, And standard available futures are usually pretty good. This pattern can be seen through all of the other models too, compare the cx90 to the pilot and Highlander and telluride, The CX-5 and cx50 to the RAV4 and CRV In short, it's possible to target both.
