I bought an RT 707 a couple of years ago on Ebay as not working. I went through it and got it running without having to buy anything but a belt. I thought I was going to have to replace the three .1 Microfarad caps that are on the Speed control board, because it would start playing real fast for no reason. I would have to switch the direction of play back and forth a few times to make it play normal. But within a few minutes it would do the same thing. Turns out the contacts in the magnetic switch on the speed control board had corrosion on them. I removed the plastic cover, sprayed them with Deoxit. Problem solved. If you don't mind tinkering, these RT-707's are pretty easy to work on.

Hello Matt Back into Reel to Reel I contacted the person who bought my Teac Collection her in Portland he still has all tapes, and the Teac Decks I have to choose between the Teac A6300 I bought from you and the Teac X10R which was serviced also. Hey bruder Bigg Matt , I hope you're okay. I hope you can help me, when you apply 1Khz at -10Db, 0.3V as the manual says to calibrate the input and meters, what type of wave should it be? Sine or Square? Try it from a PC generator and it shoots red! I measured the voltage and it was very high and with a small generator I set it to 1khz, 0.3V but there the meters read -10DB and the resistance won't let me go any higher, it reaches the top when I turn it and it barely goes up one more LED. I'm doing it and just as the manual says. But I don't know if it's because of the type of wave? Vielen Dank! 🙂

Matt, its been many years since you made the video on Teac X100R caapstan flywheel removal. can you decide which flywheel is left or right by looking at them, does the spacer to said about go on the flywheel steve end of shaft when installed. regards
