I like the short and varied intro. I'm a typical German from the south, so typical Brits always seem a bit special to me. Language has a very big influence on how you appear to others. For example, we are used to always getting to the point very quickly and directly and the accents of the German language make us seem rather harsh and unfriendly, which we actually are not. Maybe that's why I like the English language and the associated manner of the English/British people and their friendliness, which always overwhelms me. I discovered that there are also inexpensive diabolos that don't have to be bad. The problem with large spreading circles is a relatively large weight distribution within a can. That's why I sort them by 0.2 grein weight difference, which is actually quick. That's not particularly precise, but it's enough to usually create two groups of about 74% and 25%, and a third of maybe 1% that are actually eliminated by weight. This creates two “varieties” that are reasonably homogeneous and each form acceptable groups. Of course, you can work even more precisely when sorting to get even better results. By the way, I also do this with high-quality diabolos. For even tighter spreading circles, the head diameter is crucial. You can also quickly measure it with a measuring gauge and sort it accordingly. And last but not least, there are also calibration matrices for calibrating the head and cup diameters in 0.01 mm increments. However, due to the time required and the purchase costs, these measuring gauges and calibration matrices are probably more suitable for competitive shooters and not for recreational shooters. I don't actually want to share a link, but if you're interested you can search under the company name "Mamba Target" - it's a small company from Cologne. But perhaps there is something similar in the UK, especially as this sport actually originated here. Of course, if you have a PCB rifle that doesn't have a regulator, you can forget everything as long as you don't restore the original pressure in the weapon after about 30 shots. In my opinion, the weapon you use plays an even bigger role than the diabolos in determining how large the shooting group will be. I use about 40 different types of Dabolo to determine the “best” ones for each weapon. This generally results in 4 types with which this weapon delivers good results, or for the corresponding purpose. If possible, I prefer inexpensive varieties - I don't use very expensive varieties at all. But I'm just an amateur shooter and not an Olympian.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. To wring the last accuracy out of our equipment it’s important to also try diffrent power levels for the selected pellets. A few fps up/down can make a huge difference. With current world affairs some of us do not use pellets/equipment made in for instance China.
@hftshooterАй бұрын
Great point! I have done a video with my Ghost where I change the power setting to see how it effects accuracy. Easy to do on a Ghost but not so easy on my Wolverine.

@@hftshooter Thanks. On my lg110 (f. 20fpe class) I now have the reg. (polished) set at 130bar and have backed off the hammer spring for a short intense air burst with minimal valve bounce. Have no experience with your rifles but would suggest you consider testing polishing your reg. and try different settings. My next step is to make a larger plenum …

Hi mate, nice vid thank you, never had a problem with the old intro, like the new one too. Nice look at some pellets in real world conditions and great to see someone shooting at longer distances. So many "reviewers" claim how great pellets are and they only shoot them at 20 or 25m. You only see the real accuracy when you push the distances out a bit further, Cheers

From South Africa. Bought a used AA S400. Those JSB 10.34s are superb in it. Re the Predator Polymags, hit a biggest rat at abt 12m from a Stoeger springer - +/- 825 fps @ +/- 13 fpe. Close to blew the rat in two. Extremely destructive round.

Fairly good results from all the pellets by the looks of things. Is the reticle on screen in the video, what you actually see, seems to obstruct the target view quite badly for me. I didn't mind the original titles, the new ones are an improvement though.
@kevinbriggs6369Ай бұрын
I was thinking those cross hair seem a bit thick....!
@hftshooterАй бұрын
The reticle I see in the viewfinder is FFP so quite thin and precise, but the video only records a stumpy SFP one. I guess the scope is intended to record hunting footage rather than target shooting.

My Daystate likes the lighter Streamlined, but they don't really like being stretched much beyond 25yds. The JSB Exact short would be worth a try as well.

Thanks Chris. I have been looking for some JSB shorts but they seem to sell out as soon as they come in.

I have to say that the reticle on the scope would drive me nuts !. Wat too cluttered for my liking. But thanks for the test. Quite informative.
@hftshooterАй бұрын
That's just the recorded reticle. The one you see in the eyepiece is FFP and perfectly usable. I don't understand why the one you see is not also recorded in the video?

Do you think a JSB exact diablo 8.4 grain would be acceptable for hunting? I realise heavier would be preferable, but would 8.4 deliver enough damage?I don't hunt and probably never will but I was just wondering? Thanks very much

In all 5 of my Daystate's ive done the pellet testing (8 variaties )and each will stack H&N 8.4 and QYS domed 8.4. Red wolf giving best results, 2nd Reverend closely followed by Sapphire and Ghost. Regal and mk3 yet to seriously test

Thanks Steve. Sounds like I've got to get some of those domes QYS pellets to try. 🙂👍

Hi Jeff, I understand that quite a few pellets are manufactured by J̌SB, including a couple of those you tried in this video. Others from that source FX, Air Arms. Try H&N FTT as another choice as BenchRest guys like these.

Thanks Ian. I have tried FTTs but found the FTs better. I'm planning to do a benchrest pellet testing video with my FTP900 sometime soon. 🙂👍

Good video. Not much fussed about the intro music to be honest, I usually skip over it! One observation though, when you first started to shoot I immediately thought your scope looked to be too high for your cheek piece, perhaps lower mounts would be helpful?
@hftshooterАй бұрын
Thanks David. As it's a digital scope I'm actually looking at a small screen in the eyepiece so accurate eye alignment isn't important. 🙂👍

Hi, I just got my HW 97.22 caliber took me over seven months until I could finally get one in stock. I am currently looking for the optic for this rifle. i’m looking to try HFT plinking and a little small game hunting with this rifle and so far I’m looking at the Arkin 4 x 12 x 44. I also am considering a couple other variable power scopes, but was wondering if you could suggest any fixed power 10 x scopes that I might consider. It’s been over 15 years since I bought any optics and I know they’ve made a lot of changes lately. Your help would be appreciated as you are involved in the Hunterfield target competitions and seem to have a good general knowledge in this area. Any help would be appreciated and I thank you for your time sincerely Kurt.

There's the Optisan CP that's available in both a fixed 10x and variable mag. That's a popular scope in HFT. Also take a look at the Falcon Endura S10i. It's not fixed mag but very good for HFT and what I'm using right now. Check out my channel for some scope reviews that may help. 🙂👍

Interesting vid as usual, said too the Mrs before the 35mtr test that the JSB 10.34 would be best, weren't ar wrong, also very good in mine.. Gonna recommend the RTX pellets, Tillys Gunstocks did a test vid on them, work superb in all my daystate and air arms rifles.. There classed as heavy, although they are only 8.33grn, found them quite good, so much so, ordered 10tins

Have you any thoughts on pellet skirt shapes, I’ve not tried jsb shorts yet but currently using barracuda 8s as they group well and were only 7.50 a tin. they have a slightly longer skirt compared to exacts, but I’m not so consistent since the wind has got up. Thinking more surface area is giving the wind more to act on
@hftshooterАй бұрын
Thanks Andrew. I've tried Barra 8s a few times. I think there's even some in my videos. They're okay but never seem to beat my chosen pellets.

Hi, try shooting the polymags into a "rat shaped" piece of plasticine. You can see the deformation then try a regular pellet. No deformation.

@hftshooterАй бұрын
Sorry, I don't understand your comment. Are you saying polymags are bad pellets or haven't you heard of them before?
@lesliecampbell2109Ай бұрын
Nice videos tbh, my comment was regarding the polymags pellets. The other pellets on test, were potentially all excellent pellets, on your Day state,but polymags!!!. No one uses these surely. A better choice maybe a H&N pellet.... FTT, Barracuda etc. What I was alluding to is, you seem like a really good shot, hats off to you honestly, Respect sir, but pellets choice is surely the barrels choice, what works in a daystate barrel, may not work too well in a weirauch. Not nit picking here, but I genuinely enjoy your content. Keep it up.
@hftshooterАй бұрын
Ok, I understand. Polymags are purely a choice for hunting. I included them in the test as I bought all the tins together. I wasn't recommending them for plinking or target shooting; I guess so could have explained that better. I totally agree with your second point. I'm sure I mentioned at the end that every barrel is different so you need to test for what's best in your own rifle. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂👍

I think there's a glitch in the way the scope records video. It always look calm and perfect through the eyepiece, but the recording lens always places the reticle to the right side for some reason. I guess the video capture isn't meant for target shooting?
@steveward53Ай бұрын
Sorry but the combination of over-magnification exaggerating your pulse and the awful over-busy reticle make this all but unwatchable.
@hftshooterАй бұрын
Yes, I must admit the through scope stuff wasn't great. Got to try different things. I think I'll go back to setting up a video camera down range at the target.
