The Andorians had such a huge influence on the creation of Starfleet, yet they hardly ever mentioned in TNG or DS-9. Then maybe only once or twice in the original series.

The Dominion turned resource poor Cardassian space into the largest concentrated Industrial Base in the quadrant. And the Cardassians inherited most of it.
@crownprincesebastianjohano706922 сағат бұрын
The Invasion of Cardassia turned into Gowron's _Spanish Ulcer._ Like Napoleon, Gowron got mired in a war he couldn't win. It was a terrible idea to begin with for a number of reasons. One has to look at this from a military perspective in terms of how wars are actually fought: 1) Order of Battle, 2) Logistics, 3) Operational Realities. Whereas Star Trek fans see war as an extension of games like Bridge Commander, that is tactical dimension only, individual ship performance is the least important aspect of war. By the way that War ended, we can discern a lot: The sneak attack caught the Cardassians in a bad position, but the Klingon advance stopped, Gowron picked a war with the Feds, it became a war of attrition. Due to several reasons, mostly favoring them, over 18 months the Cardassians recovered to the point that by the point Dukat returned with the first wave of Dominion ships, no more than 85, the Cardassians had planned, supported and were ready for a major offensive and *routed a large Klingon expeditionary force in less than 78 hours.* The Klingons had little hope for victory unless the were able to decapitate Cardassia right off the bat. Firstly, Klingon space is at the closest 80 light years from Cardassia, and through now hostile Federation territory, forcing their ships to either run the Starfleet gauntlet or take lengthy detours. Planning is not a Klingon strong-suit and neither is logistics and is not difficult to imagine that their support system was in shambles and unable to supply such a large force so far from home. Secondly, once Gowron attacked the Federation his goose was cooked. Undoubtedly he had to either deprive his forces in Cardassia of the replacements they needed, or even draw off forces. The relative stalemate during the rest of their War indicates that any advantages in concentration and numbers they had in the first days dissipated. Even at their low point, the Cardassians were using superior tactics and a Fabian strategy to wear down Klingon forces as mentioned in the episode *Soldiers of the Empire.* Aside from numbers, Klingon ships are not any more advanced than the Cardassians. BoPs are old, and Vorchas are thin on the ground. Cardassians already know how to detect cloaked ships. Unless the Klingons have a large advantage in numbers, they won't have an edge. Meanwhile, clearly the Cardassian Fleet recovered and was building ships quickly. The first months of the Dominion War were fought mostly with ships the Cardassians already had and it was a lot. Finally, Operationally the Klingons were not enjoying many advantages. The Cardassians were fighting in their own space, benefitting from immediate support zones, immediate re-supply and reinforcement, and able to use their fortified systems as pivot points from which to maneuver. Fortified systems also allow for an economy of force when on the defense. Attrition set in and due to his war with the Federation Gowron couldn't maintain a superiority in numbers while the Cardassians were rebuilding and gaining strength. By the time Dukat arrived with the Dominion fleet, which only had around 85 ships, the Cardassians already had an edge in numbers over the Klingons. That Dukat was able to eject the Klingons after only a few days, with relatively few Dominion ships, indicates the Cardassians had done the intel prep, logistics support and marshaled superior numbers and were ready to launch a massive offensive before the Dominion came through the wormhole. The balance must have been tenuous for Dukat to so quickly and decisively defeat the Klingons only using 80 Dominion ships as a spearhead. The rest of the force was Cardassian.

Klingons didn't do so well after their totally honorable sucker punch. Didn't finish the job and started another war. Who needs enemies when you have Gowron as leader?

🤔 it's not really just about temperature, the tholians need a super high pressure environment, like Venus, they need high pressures to keep their crystaline structure from cracking, it's the same way a low pressure vacuum will boil our blood and fluids

Could have made this video to 4 minutes. Kind of ranted about other stuff and did not even say when Betazed was freed from occupation. For shame. Do better.

I wish Star Trek Insurrection would've been a Dominion War epic with Picard and his crew on the ground fighting to liberate Betazed, and the Enterprise battling Jem'Hadar ships in space.

Maybe in an alternate reality we got that Star Trek.
@tarn113522 сағат бұрын
So pickerd (yeah I spelled it wrong on purpose.) AND his crew fighting on the ground and the Enterprise was just what fighting for herself? Tbh I had a similar thought about that movie and the start would centered around a running space battle with the Enterprise and a few other ships drawing the dominion ships after them into the briar patch to allow the more damaged allied ships away to, idk, DS9 or something. Hell, actually exactly to DS9 because that’s how you’d get Worf back into the movie and have the appearance of Sisko doing kick ass Sisko things, but back briar patch where an unknown to the federation a previously unknown facility around a planet was cranking out alpha type jem’hadar and a massive white and ship factory. Enough to turn the tide of the war completely against the allies. Completely ignoring the “fountain of youth crap with the Sonya or the Baku nonsense.

After having been watching the series about the Dominion War for a while, I cannot helped but wondering that will the Star Trek's movies' trilogy will make movies about the Dominion War or not. And even if they can, should they make them?

Everyone here is wrong. The greatest threat to the Federation was those parasites from TNG: Conspiracy. They were so bad, they almost got the show cancelled. Close second place to those aliens who took Spock's Brain.

I know you based your video mostly on the memory alpha wiki page, but its too bad you didn't make any mention of the Star Trek Vanguard novel series information on the Tholians. Its really interesting as to how the Tholians were originally slaves that broke free of their masters, explaining some of their xeno behavior.

Organic means very specifically carbon based, so Tholians are silicon based and decidedly NOT organic.
@blackstoneriverworkshop71673 күн бұрын
@@Willpower-74205 No, it means carbon-based. There are many non-living organic molecules. It is used to mean biomass, particularly on Trek, but that's not what it means

There is a series called starfleet battles that had a whole chapter on the tholians They apparently came from another galaxy they fully dominated untill a servent race they created to keep the other aliens at bay rebeled nearly wiping out the tholian race as a whole. Knowing they were on the edge of extinction most of their surviving members grabbed their homeworld and used subspace anomalies to reach our galaxy

The Gorn were always my Favorite in SFB, but Tholians were always good for getting your tactical mind working, whether you were playing them or going against them. They didn't have particularly strong weapons or shields, but their signature Tholian Web technology was always cool to play with.🖖

So what did the Tholians eat and drink? Despite being silicon-based lifeforms, they needed to eat and drink as well. And of course, how did they sleep with such bodies?

They absorb "food", on earth we have something similar to thoilans called diatoms that have a silicon based shell that's perfect for absorption of minerals

Amd in some ways as much as i loved the A - now i kinda wish theyd flown around in the Excelsior in Trek 4 - 6 like the original idea - would've freshened the movies up with a new ship and a new name...love the Excelsior class - looks tough and different.
