Nice game! Looks close and fun. Hoping to get some VAS going myself this week. Did you enjoy it? Spectacular rolling from the young admiral!

Nice battle! I have a question though, couldn't you use the scouting rules to try and get more planes up from the carriers at the start of the game?
@cognitionfatigue2 күн бұрын
Thanks. In principle you can get plans up using scouting rules... we did use the scouting rules and didn't roll up a lot. I'd need to put destroyers and cruisers into scouting to try and get more scout points but it's a roll not an auto result, so no guarantee of success. The US have really good scouting options so might work better for them.

You guys would probably enjoy Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts. I’ve wanted to get into Victory at Sea for ages, looks likes so much fun. Which state do you play in? I’m down in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.

We are in SA - how is the gaming community in Barossa?

Good to see Dark Elves. Wizards can still cast spells if they fail stupidity in the new edition. There's actually very few restrictions

Love chaos warriors too. Ever since 6th edition. Just hope the rules improve a bit for infantry in the the old world.

Yeah... I'm getting a few ideas about that, but need to road test them - multi buff banners, multiple close order units etc...

An impressive amount of work. Well done! But I see you’re almost as much of a butterfly 🦋 as me. Switching from project to project, I never seem to get anything truly finished.🤦
@cognitionfatigue29 күн бұрын
Lol. Yeah. It's a very first world problem. We agreed on three key systems... then our friends intervened with too many cool things to have a go at.
@sirrathersplendid4825Ай бұрын
Boards chipping? I find painting with a couple of layers of PVA glue helps. Mix in your brown paint and you can do two jobs - paint & repair - at once. If you can stretch to it, Mod Podge is another alternative. It’s basically PVA mixed with varnish so is tougher by design.

Nice looking game. Given the British operations in North Germany and the Netherlands in 1813-14 under Graham there is good latitude to have brits operating alongside Prussian or even Russian forces.
@mabinogion7023Ай бұрын
Really like the look of thegame. Epic scale makes more “sense” when playing at home on say a 6x4, but i already have a ton of 28mm and they do look so good.

Outstanding work on those Prussians. I am working on a similar project, 1809 Austrians.

If you ever feel like adding some reserve infantry to bulk your brigades out, the Wargames Atlantic Prussian Reserve infantry are a great plastic set which go well with the Perry command figures.

That's a really optimised beastmen army against a really un-optimised DElf army, which would be a tough matchup at the best of times. Glad to see corsairs and reapers being used!
@cognitionfatigueАй бұрын
Cheers. I did a very corsair heavy army when I collected the DE... I haven't worked out how to optimise them in TOW yet.

@ I’ve got some ideas about zipping them around in marching column through terrain and then plinking wounds off with curse of arrow attraction and plague of rust from the flanks but I haven’t been able to try it yet
@Gothmetalhead13Ай бұрын
>Le wacky "it just blow sup" Make it have a reason to. Only roll if its fired on, or if units near to it receive fire. Having a 1/6 chance to just randomly explode with no reason is poor design.

Also I wanted to ask for an opinion: If a chariot is accompanied by chariot runners, would the runners theoretically benefit from a magical standard carried by the Charakter on respective chariot? Edit: I know some run a Wargor with Vitriolic Totem in Ungors and since I cannot find Information that clearly states otherwise I assume you can't give your Chariot BSB the Standard to buff your Ungor chariot runners with Poisoned Attacks
@cognitionfatigueАй бұрын
Good question. That might be one for a FAQ. A quick check of the rule book says skirmishers can count the chariot for unit coherency but that's pretty thin evidence for using standards.
@martinflatschacher37602 ай бұрын
Love the fact that Doug made a Beastmen army with shooting focus. That's how I wanna play them.
@johnshank51362 ай бұрын
Lol for the Warhoof.
@MrCABman19722 ай бұрын
I'm sure you played that charge against the mage properly... a flyer must fit when it lands. Also, the Mage was a skirmisher so the Wayvern was not allowed to wheel to charge it as skirmishers align to it and not the reverse and when you charge a skirmisher you must go the shortest path and simply hit them. We have a house rule though that don't allow flyers to fly over other units that also fly. So a flying units act like a regular unit against other flyers for movement purposes. We find that to make flyers more tactical and it also seem logic. But as I say, that is just a house rule.

Great example of the rating system in action. Ships of the line (3+) almost outright beat frigates (5th-6th) and frigates nearly outright beat brigs (unrated).

Not sure what the DEs have in terms of chaff, but the gnoblar trappers are getting way too much value. Spells maybe? Something to force a ld test?

I've still got some way to go with learning all the tricks of this army in this edition... too many armies to re-familiarise with... but using blocking spells or redirectors to avoid tar pit units seems to be a thing.

Technically the unit that took the charge from the board should have been off the table, as casualties have to come off of one side or the other. Either way that puts you over the table edge, or o. Contact with a unit that would force you to pop over, and off of the table. That said, it’s a friendly game, and I’m sure your mate was happy to feed his pigs.
