its kinda fun to watch these vids in some backwards progression just to see the learning experiences and through process behind the things that worked, and how it got there.

Yeah, very sorry for the silence! I moved across the country, and I've had some housing issues to deal with, but Cheesecake is still going to compete, just in the Midwest now! Hang tight!

Haha! Yeah, it's pretty common to bring two copies of your robot in case you get absolutely obliterated in one of your fights and don't have time to rebuild.

I just got my first fingertech viper kit. Do you have any tips on how to design a successful robot?
@alexsalchemy12 күн бұрын
Awesome! Let's see... it depends what kind of robot you're making, but here are some tips: 1. Soft tires grip the floor well. I use rubber bands, but other people use silicone. 2. Shock mount your drive motors if you can: otherwise they'll get really rattled and start to break. 3. Practice driving. Really get a feel for your robot. 4. Watch a lot of videos to see what other people are doing. 5. Some great websites to buy parts are Just Cuz, Repeat Robotics, Palm Beach Bots, ITGreasa, and of course Fingertech. 6. Some great websites for custom parts are PCBWay, SendCutSend, Fictiv, Ponoko, CNC Madness (great for carbon fiber plates), and OshCut.

Exactly the video I was looking for! Thank you!! For anyone wondering, shipping from Fillamentum to the U.S. is (unfortunately) steep: $41 for two spools of HIPS filament. Hopefully a company in the U.S. jumps in on this!

Im glad these popped up in my recommended feed. I know nothing of the robot combat scene aside from some old battle bots clips and now your vids. Im hooked on Cheesecake and end very much enjoy your videos.

I really like the analysis you did on your opponents. It was very informative, and showed that you had respect for your opponents. It's a great mindset for these kinds of things.

Thank you! Honestly, I think having that context really helps the audience care about the action: it helps them know what to look for and when to start worrying. It's... basically telling a story and giving depth to the characters.

Instead of PLA, what about TPU? I know PLA is very strong, yet brittle when it finally breaks, leading to big cracks and significant damage. However, TPU is a flexible plastic, and won't break nearly as easily. I assume you may have already considered it in the design phase of Cheesecake, if you did, then don't worry about it. Very nice to see Cheesecake fight!

Thank you -- quite informative and almost everything I needed to know. Just one question -- it may seem a stupid one -- does the limonene treatment also help make the prints water tight? My I'm looking at getting into 3D printing to make printable parts that can be used for growing microgreens and some produce at home -- also some vertical bins for vermiculture -- so not only does it have to be food safe (leeching harmful chemicals and heavy metals into the food would of course be no bueno) but also needs to be able to hold the water that is meant for the plants. If it doesn't hold water, it's just a mess waiting to happen.
@alexsalchemyАй бұрын
I think it should. Just like acetone vapor smoothing, using limonene on HIPS should melt the surface just enough to close small pores.

Something i would recommend against controll bots is to use your cleat wheels. This is because they will offer better traction, and you dont really need to absorb any incoming hits.

I don't know if anyone can help me or not. I’m currently working on a thought experiment before I’ll build it. I’m planning on building a bot that its top and bottom can be interchangeable. That way when it's flipped over it still run a without having to change the way I would use the remote. I’m trying to locate a circuit design but I cannot come up with the proper terminology for this circuit. If you don’t know, could you please direct me to the correct sources. Thank you.

Well, when Cheesecake gets flipped over, I can press a button on my transmitter to reverse the throttle and make him drive normally again. This works because I use the Fingertech Tiny Mixer, which is a little electronic device that plugs in between my receiver and my drive motors. This can also be done purely in software on a transmitter like the MT12.

Fusion in the battlebots Tv show has a beter Weapon design. On the Front Theres a double Disc vertical spinner And on the back Theres a Horizontal spinner so if One of the is broke it can Use the other spinner. Horivertzical cant do that Because it ony has one weapon

Against bots like Free Throw, I'd recommend backing over them so that you don't have to turn around to come at their backside.
