This video made me form an emotional attachment to fictional political entities

While I understand that this is not trying to be too realistic the unrealism of this scenario is absurd. I am willing to gloss over the fact that Germany practically had 0 chances of winning WW2, but things like that Germany doesn't have to face constant rebellions in its Reichskommissariats or that Germany does not fall into any kind of civil war or economic crisis due to the destruction of WW2 and the enormous amounts of money it will have to spend on just garrisoning a population (Eastern Europe) that is the same size as Germany proper is baffling. Just for comparison the Soviet Union which did not intend to wipe out any of the Eastern European groups (likes Poles, Hungarians etc.) faced constant anti-communist small scale rebellions from various groups until the 1960s. Ukrainian nationalists and the Baltics had upheaval until the 1950s/1960s (despite being direct territories of the Soviet Union, not even puppets). This is not even to mention events like the Prague Spring or Hungarian Revolution. All of this under groups which had their culture not at stake of going extinct and just fighting a communist system that was oppressing them and giving them awful living conditions. The enormous amounts of money that the Soviets had to spend to keep their society and larger sphere in control was upwards of 20% of their budget at times, which was a factor in their collapse (as all of those resources are not going towards the civilian economy for development). Again this was from a dictatorial society that was not wiping out ethnic groups on large (even though it did engage in its own settler colonialism in Ukraine and Kazakhstan for instance). Yet Germany faces not 1 rebellion throughout the entire series/movie (Hungary and Bulgaria are the closest to this, but they are independent nations just allying the Germans and then betraying them due to circumstances around Germany's domination/paranoia. They are not even puppets). Wow. The problem becomes bigger as the series progresses where to the point its obvious that logistics on even the smallest abstract level are not taken into account. Siberien Reichskommissariat is the most noticeable before WW3. To imagine that somehow the Germans could even operate a colonial puppet government thousands upon thousands of miles from their heartland filled with a population of natives and Russians that despise them is laughable how it is not brought up at all at any point in the series. Siberien with any realism applied would most certainty be impossible to administer in any capacity and would fall into rebellion immediately and would easily succeed to secede from Germany. Ural and Kasachstan/Turkestan Reichskommissariats have the exact same issue. At least for the Italian and Japanese Empires there is some element of realism when it comes to their holdings (they are connected, can be supplied, colonies are not to far fetched to imagine happening etc.). I actually really like how Italy is handle in this series for the most part, they have their defeats, triumphs and their empire feels quite realistic in a Germany victory world. Japan too is quite reasonable, especially since it is mentioned how much territory they had to give up just for peace in WW2 (I also liked the mention of espionage with Manchukuo and how they are swayed back to Japan, as it is one of the only times something other than countries in an abstract sense are mentioned). The only complaint I have of Italy is the Italian Middle East seems far fetched, especially since most of it is desert and imagining Italy fully administrating it without anarchy/rebellious cells all over the colony is something I have a hard time imagining. Japan though is probably the only thing handled pretty realistically with me having very little complaints (Even though Japan's betrayal during WW3 and Operation Downfall happening are quite unrealistic to imagine, but I can see why that still might happen. I just think that betrayal wouldn't happen due to the reduction in armed forces of Japan and their reconstruction like it happened in reality post WW2, but maybe due to smaller time scale of reconstruction there could be an anti-America movement?) Germany though good lord. It gets even worse during WW3. The idea that a Germanic World Order could even last without succumbing to constant rebellions is insane. Germany in our own world could not even put down the partisans in Yugoslavia throughout the entire war. To imagine that 40 years later they can put the entire world under their thumb in an efficient administration with no rebellions is the biggest unrealistic thing in the whole series. The idea of super soldiers is too a wasted cheap concept. The idea itself isn't too far fetch in itself (especially with German idea of racial purity and its militaristic culture), but it is used in such a way that is unbelievable (In 13 years of its inception it manages to basically conquer the world). The biggest showcase of this is South American theater. The idea that it would take 6 years (as long as WW2 itself) for the strongest (or 2nd strongest) nation on the planet (U.S.A) to conquer 3 minor South American nations (Peru, Bolivia and Argentina), while Germany manages to conquer half of all Asia (Turkey, Arabia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Siberia and Afghanistan) just because of Super Soldiers that were invented in the previous decade and are far from perfect is ridiculous to imagine (Not to even talk about the logistic or rebellion issues that I mentioned earlier). Other minor points I have is that the Soviet Union collapsing just due to Stalin's death I find far fetched. I can imagine the Soviet Union eventually falling due to its great instability, the lost of WW2 (basically losing a sort of mandate of heaven for rule among Russians) and general lack of any economy to feed its people in the aftermath of so much destruction (and potential rebellions in Central Asia), but just collapsing because of one leaders death is far fetch (especially since Germany does not fall apart in anyways despite Hitler dying in this same series). Also the whole point of Germany moving its factories underground out of range of conventional bombing during WW3 (making the entire liberate Britain plan pointless) felt like the biggest Deux Ex Machina bs in the entire series. In conclusion I think this alternate history is deeply flawed and is written as almost a scenario where nothing bad happens to Germany and always wins due to absurdity (the only loses I remember are Britain in 1979, Losing its "allies" in South American in 1982, losing Antarctica in 1983 and their allies being beaten in 1960 to Saudi Arabia. But that the second and last one hardly counts honestly and even the first and third ones are temporary loss with basically no consequences). I think it could of have been an interesting alternate history if realism was applied to all the story and to actually get a glimpse into what life for the people of this world are like (there are no mention of any political developments, social developments, elections, internal structures, spies during the Cold War period etc. Only blobs on a map conquering territory and that is it, without any consideration of what this territory is like I outlined in most of my criticism), but unfortunately it really misses the mark due to all of the problems I have explained.

To be fair, you’re right. A scenario like this is pretty much impossible even in the context of an Axis victory, and if I remade the series today, I would do some things a little differently (e.g. Germany simply rebuilding its factories deeper inland and out of range of the Allied bombers, and reworking the “enhanced soldier” idea). That said, the focus was always more on creating something dramatic rather than realistic, and I had planned the rise of the GWO to be the defining moment of this series since, like, the second episode. (And let’s be honest, a lot of mapping stories are unrealistic anyway.) Hope you liked the animations and music, at least. XD Also, have you seen my next series, The Vengeful Phoenix? That one’s also, admittedly, insanely unrealistic, but I’d say it’s at least a better-planned story than Fatherland, with a solid central theme to boot.
@comicenthusiast204825 күн бұрын
@@protonicmapping8399 Thanks for the response. Yes I have seen your Vengeful Phoenix series (In fact I have seen all of your series way back in the day) and yeah I have to agree on the storytelling part as it is better than Fatherland, but the unrealism critiques I have still hamper my enjoyment of it (you can probably even guess what I am going to say based on the critique I have of Fatherland). I did enjoy the music, especially during part 9 (really good music choices honestly). If the point was always from a drama perspective than I think this series does a great job. It just that for me there is also that "Alternate History" part in the title that makes me take the work with a more serious perspective. Maybe I shouldn't, as like you said most mapping series are extremely unrealistic, but I like more serious realistic alternate histories so... yeah.

So it has ended. For the entirety of humanity, it was divided between groups, be it tribes, citystates, kingdoms, empires or countries. But for the first time, humanity unites under one banner. The new world order will be brutal, as brutal as 1984. There will be resistance in the streets, militias forming everywhere. Some have same ideologies, others different, but all with one goal, to end the new order. But in my opinion, it would only go for some time. Just take any time, one month, one year, 10 years, or even 1000 years. But soon it will fail. Why, you ask? No, I am not being a Nazi supporter of something. Even in our timeline, the germans advanced medical sciences by experimenting in the labour camps. In this timeline, it would be more hellish. Then, they would just control the brains, and humanity would become a hive mind. But, what kind of hive mind? Will it be like 1984, where everyone would work for the Big Brother, or in this case, the Master Race? Or with all the progress in science, the germans engineer all humans to be of the same Aryan race. Tyranny, dictatorship, brutality, they will be all consuming. It will be the end of all moral values as we know it. Time to be under a new order. It is truly a dystopia. All utopias are, but this is truly dystopian. It may sound hypocritical, but humanity could progress more under the new order, United, not distracted by war, all for the benefit of the Aryan race. As I imagine, once the new order colonized the galaxy, different groups would now start to rebel, as the species start to diverge. Remember, we are talking about huge timescales. Maybe then, one group can find the last remnants of humanity before the war, maybe they don't, but they now support other ideas, or philosophies. This would be the beginning of a whole new age. Like humans spread from Africa and spread around the world, they will now spread from earth to across different galaxies. This is not the end, but just a new beginning. From evil, good will again arise, maybe the good will be different from ours, but let's hope they will be better than the nazis.

Wouldnt germania pretty much jsut fall under maybe 2-3 decades?, since a country that large and authoritarian clearly would not be able to survive so long due to needing to having a massive administration system. The continued use and expansion of the super-soldier program could lead to unintended consequences. The reliance on these soldiers might create a class of beings with their own agendas, potentially leading to a revolt against germania. And speaking the entire GWO economy would still be run by the same system with lebensraum , slaves and massive slave corporations which would possibly make the whole worlds economy fail and especially when Germania will cause overexploitation of resources could lead to environmental degradation, food shortages, and economic collapse in certain regions. And not ot mention massive slave revolts that would lead to.

To think in an alternate timeline, the final result would of happened. In some ways, it's nice to see the evil force triumph over when there's a lot of peaceful ends, though there is a finality to an ending where there is only one rule, evil or good.
