This is the content I’m engaged the most with. I’m moving to Korea in January from the south USA so I like to know the culture and mannerisms and things. I’d like to be as polite and informed as possible. I’m hella excited. 😤

I'm southern myself and stayed there for a month in Seoul. As a southerner I was SURPRISED how many Korean men held the door for me. So I will say that in at least in Seoul some of the politeness of international communities have rubbed off on the younger generation. I asked a few locals about this in Itaewon and they told me many younger people liked the politeness of southerners when they visited the states or met them and decided they would hold the door for others at times. This was back in 2019, so not sure if anything changed after the pandemic but it was a pleasant surprise for me. Of course they knew I was from the South when I spoke or I guess what I wore so maybe they went the extra mile? That good old Nuunchi she spoke about. Loved it there, so will you. Be careful there, there are many who AREN"T locals and just be careful as a young woman there in general.

I lived in SK in the 1960s-1970s. I think more Koreans were extroverted and friendlier back then. Then again, it was over 50 years ago. I think the new generations are keeping things to themselves - in their own world, no thanks to modern technology.

The GPS thing is real, even in America lol. I put on my GPS 90% of the time just incase there is a faster route, or a detour. WAZE is pretty good and keeping me from getting trapped or having to turn and go all the way back around.

I moved here earlier this year. I live in Busan and when I visit seoul and daegu I see so many differences in how people treat each other. Seoul is a lot more friendly and social, but in Busan people are quite reserved and quiet. I like that part. While Seoul is friendlier, in Busan you actually get more door holding. I never expect it, but im always shocked when it happens. I too have found myself becoming less patient, but while you can get most things by the next day, food delivery is often the same speed as the states. I will say though, when there is a delay in my order, I develop a mini attitude 😂😂😂 I'm becoming spoiled lol. Daegu is the one place I was able to successfully correct a 할아버지 for talking about me. It was hot, I was tired from a long day of teaching and then the train ride, and to top it off it was my birthday. I heard him say "오, 헤비 걸" and I yelled "야! 할아버지 그만해!" He looked shocked and said "oh sorry sorry" (I regret nothing 😂)

Navigation! I do too but only because living in the city, it shows me a few routes and the one with the least traffic choices or if there are incidences on the road. Plus, Waze will tell you if there is a police car in front ready to stop you from speeding. In Australia for example, going 1-5 km above a certain speed limit gets you a fine! So, even when I know the route, Navigation is essential!

I just clicked on your video and remember you last time asking us if there is anything else you'd like to talk about other than Korea.. Girl.. I absolutely love Korea, don't get me wrong.. but there are people like me who just 'observe' and never comment. I really want to see you talk about the things YOU are passionate about! Who cares what we all want. Keeping true to yourself will attract different people to your channel! Talk about mental health maybe? I'm not great with video ideas, but it's always nice getting an insight into others' minds as we are all connected in some way and will be able to find something to relate to. I don't want to see this channel drain the life out of you.. not saying it will, but talk about the things YOU yourself LOVE! 🥰 I've been watching you for years and love seeing how you've changed. I'm sure this comment will be drowned out , but I hope you see it 😊✨️

It’s always nice to embrace other cultures but I’m curious as to how much exposure your children have to your black American culture. Do you speak an equal amount of Korean/English for example? Do you cook the kinds of foods you grew up eating? The mixed children I’ve known seemed to favor one culture over the other so what are the ways you set out to ensure that they embrace both sides of themselves? ETA: this wasn’t meant in a hostile way but as genuine curiosity. I understand writing things intent can often get misconstrued so I just wanted to clear that up. Thanks

That holding the door thing... I did that when in Korea and Koreans behind me looked at me like what are you doing?! And walked past me. I once stood there like half a minute to let like 5 or 6 people in and they all looked at me. But at the same time I was annoyed the Korean before me didn't hold it and let it go in my face. Lucky me I knew Koreans don't do it so it never ended up in my face but for some travel buddies it did.
