I've heard singers from many generations from all genres of music.. None of them can touch the control, quality, innocence and yet powerful and pure angelic beauty of Whitney Houston's voice. Truly nothing on earth was like it.

This performance always makes me wanna cry. I'm 40 years old and Whitney Houston was the voice of my childhood. The little boy on the seat is now a grown adult man now and he wrote on a KZbin post of this performance said that it was the happiest moment on his life getting to sit next to Ms. Houston and have her sing to him.

Beyoncé has literally always had a country accent when talking and singing. I mean she’s from the south. If anyone can resonate with country/blues genre, it’s her.

She has a beautiful voice, I keep listening to her performances over and over, especially Alfie. It relaxes you. Talking about euphonious. Just masterful when you can stand like that in front of an audience and command that kind of respect. Wow. Glad I’m not the only one hooked. ❤

You're the 1st one to talk about the orchestration, which is simply magnificent!! This version should be put on Spotify, I love when singers can cover a classic and make it their own, while acknowledging the artist original. It's such a beautiful love song, she's emoting and drawing the audience in. She is pleading to Alfie and we hear her.....cry out to Alfie and it's simply perfection!! Love your reaction and explanation. I tear up every time I hear this.

Apparently Alfie was a movie in the '60s and this was on the soundtrack. It also happens to be one of her biggest hits. She is such a legend. She deserves this tribute. She looked like such a proud mom while watching Cynthia kill it. In the note with big bravado the lyric is " Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Alfie". Can we also talk about that stunning gown?

I have been a fan of Dionne Warwick since 2006 when I realized that she could sang, but I haven’t heard this song Alfie in years. So after being mesmerized by Cynthia‘s version, I went to seek two performances by Dion, because I know she makes a different every time. I have to say neither of them impacted me the way that Cynthia’s did. Even though there were some people trying to put down Cynthia‘s version, I wasn’t gonna say anything until they got too harsh with it. Lol. But the fact is I like the way that Cynthia plays with dynamics in the song more and emphasizes certain words. Like you said, she gets off at the right time. Like that line about “something nonbelievers can’t believe in“, it doesn’t stand out at all to me in Dionne’s version, whereas Cynthia made sure that it does with that dynamic change, as well as the change in tempo of music. Very clever choice. Anyway, just my take.
