This was a great video! That was a cool place, heading back to BC in June, I can't wait to rockhound out there again. So many impressive specimens, and beautiful landscapes as well!

I don't know much about garnets what is use for panning for them if I my ask .
@NWRockExplorerАй бұрын
You can use just a regular gold pan, not the most efficient but it does concentrate the heavy minerals. The best option would be a saruca, it's basically a fine screen that with a certain method will concentrate heavy minerals like magnetite, garnet, spinel, sapphire, and gold. There's lots of good youtube videos on how sarucas work😉

Really great video! The agates are all so beautiful, my favorites have to be the purple ones with the white circles on them. Love the editing with the flash backs to when you found them, very cool style.

argh, the cold and snow here in Prince George is cramping my agate/jasper hunting. 'tis the season, I guess. I'm heading to Vancouver island for work next week and hoping to have a bit of time to find some Dallasite, to tide me over. :)
@NWRockExplorerАй бұрын
Yea 'tis the season. Best of luck searching for dallasite!! that's one that I'll need to scratch off the bucket list at some point. Haida Gwaii is also a good winter rockhounding spot, good storms to turn up the beaches too.

Awesome little hunt! Some great finds! And that downed tree was huge! That's just wild that a beaver would take down an enormous tree like that! I guess that's why they call them busy little beavers! And it's great to see you back on KZbin! I love your videos! They are always so easy going and full of knowledge! Thanks and good seeing you Liam!💕
@NWRockExplorerАй бұрын
thank you!! Yea beavers are crazy, like how do they take down a tree that size with just their teeth haha!! All just for some branches to use in dams, there's so many small saplings around they could take down with a couple chomps😅

Awesome video, some really nice finds, I really like the thin carnelian piece. Might be good to make some tea with that wild mint if that's something you like. Always really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing your journey!
@NWRockExplorerАй бұрын
Thanks!! Yea, tea's pretty good idea. I haven't tried any kind of mint tea yet, maybe I'll have to give that a try. definitely something I'd like to experiment with though. I've tried both fireweed and dandelion root tea so far, both were pretty good. I like playing around with wild edibles to see what i can come up with, just another interest on top of many others haha.
@carlynscolorfulcreationsАй бұрын
Mint tea is probably my favorite kind of tea in general, but fireweed tea sounds really good too. I usually make fireweed jam every year and I can't get enough of it. I also really enjoy foraging things when I can, I just moved to a new area so it'll be interesting to see what I find around here, bolth rocks and plant life. Looking forward to seeing what else you found this past summer aswell.

@@carlynscolorfulcreations Awesome!! Yea I've yet to try fireweed jam but it's something I'm sure I'll try next year!! Best of luck exploring your new area, always something cool to find no matter whare you are. Being in an area that's new to you adds some good adventure to it!!👍👍

Thanks!! I've been coming back to this spot for years now, it was one of the best areas I had found for agates and jaspers!! Great to see you out prospecting again! The agates you found may be small but they're really nice. The berries must have made a tasty snack. Beautiful country out there. Thank you for taking us along on the hunt. I hope your truck will continue to get you out trekking. It's no fun when your wheels are out of commission. My car has been waiting for a part at the dealership for three weeks now! Take care!
@NWRockExplorer2 ай бұрын
there's a long line up for the auto shops here lately, I've yet to get any repairs in any of them because the wait is just too long. i have my truck fixed now but to be honest I'll probably be sticking somewhat close to home for the rest of the winter as the interior is freezing up. I have some projects in mind I want to work on before the snow hits too, should make next season a lot more interesting.

Small finds but still awesome finds. Every time I watch your videos I think of when I was building logging roads in BC. Found some things, lots I never knew what I was looking at but some I did know. I hope to be able to share a couple places with you when I get back out there. Stay safe and take care.

awesome!! Yea i figured those guys who build the logging roads get a pretty good look at the geology. Pipelines might also have some good minerals kicked up around them too🙂

@@NWRockExplorer yes they do. Also check around the base of hydro poles ,they had to drill holes or dig a hole to put them in the ground so look at the soil that came from there,.

@NWRockExplorer3 ай бұрын
Thanks!! now that I've seen the trailing raspberries I'm starting to see more of them around. Apparently only one for every few plants actually creates a berry!! I wouldn't say this was an amazing dig in terms of finds. Still happy I found some nice agates though, also might've found a new area to explore in the future. i thought the first item were 'chaps' haha great idea though if your rockhounding in snake country, what a nice guy though there's some awesome looking pieces there, especially the Sunstones! 😍 also just wanted to say i'm new to your channel and really enjoying your videos! if you ever wanted to trade some pieces with someone overseas im based in Wales, UK and i'm quite literally the only person i know here who Rockhounds lol we have some very local pink and red Gypsum, some with Mica running through it but lovely quality overall as well as various other minerals, also i started out collecting Fluorite aswell as Quartz when i first got into the hobby but 2 years later and i only really focus on Quartz aswell as some other gemmy things such as Topaz, Garnet & Tourmaline and have been looking for someone to give a good home to the few pieces of Fluorite i've acquired online, one is a nice purple cubic piece from Mexico, a yellow cubic piece from Spain & a polished freeform of Bluejohn Fluorite which only comes from a place here in the UK, i don't know the cost of shipping to the US and vice versa but if you'd like me to post some photos over to you to have a look just drop me a comment below, all the best dude! Gypsum is one mineral that I've yet to find but I have some pretty good leads on some selenite locations so that should be fun. I kind of need to keep my collection to a minimum at the moment until I can get my own place, I've got too many rocks apparently, one of these days my room is going to crash through the floor from all the weight haha. I really appreciate it though!! I'm from Canada by the way, quite close by to the Alaska border. I never knew Wales was so mineral rich, I'd have only assumed there'd be the calcium minerals but there must be some igneous and metamorphic rock out there too for the topaz, tourmaline and garnets to form. Any colored tourmalines out there or mostly just schorl?
@jimmymcgill25573 ай бұрын
@@NWRockExplorer ahh that's understandable lol and ohhh apologies, we don't get Garnets or Tourmaline here at all i just meant those are things i collect in general via purchases haha, we do have a lot of Quartz, Calcite, Fluorite, Metallic minerals such as Goethite, Galena, Hematite etc and we have a local coastline littered with white and pink Gypsum (Alabaster/Rock Gypsum) specifically but there has been some Selenite/Spar found in the same area too and also some Celestite, my god i would love to have the sort of things you guys have over there! we do get garnets and Topaz in areas like Scotland but the garnets are microscopic for the most part and amongst sand! lol happy hunting buddy! 💎😬

Another awesome video as always! Its definitely always a fun mystery to see what is inside thundereggs. I think it would be really cool to see you polish up any of these, especially one the more agate filled ones. Also would enjoy seeing anything else you find be shaped and polished, i love watching lapidary, and it would be cool to see your lapidary settup aswell. Your videos are always really fun and interesting and ill look forward to the next one. 😄
@NWRockExplorer3 ай бұрын
Thanks!! Yea I'd really like to show more lapidary work, I'll be catching up on some soon so maybe I'll put together a few videos. In a couple months I have a craft fair to attend so it'd be good to have some projects finished. I'm trying to build a sphere machine at the moment so i can make some spheres from the sunstone and other material I collect. Fingers crossed it works out, the electrical stuff is all new to me haha.
@carlynscolorfulcreations3 ай бұрын
@@NWRockExplorer it'd be super cool to see your lapidary techniques sometime. I also hope your craft fair goes really successfully. I've actually got a medieval craft fair coming up in like a week so I know how exciting but also stressful it can be to try to get as much done as possible, so best of luck to you. The fact that your putting together a sphere machine is freaking awesome though, id love to see that thing in action when you get it working properly. I collect 30mm-40mm spheres for this dragon's claw staff that I have that you can switch out the spheres so I find it particularly cool that your doing that. Hope everything goes as well as possible with all your projects!
