Great video, I guess I should have known that you had one of those. I just bought one, but it was a basket case, so I ended up getting another one that is pristine. Bases on what you paid, I guess I overpaid, but I'm still new to these locos & cars...

Thanks for sharing, that's been one of the locos that's still missing in my collection. I recently acquired another one of Rivarossi's loco & train: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4rWhJSEd6uhnassi=zGQOf_yvLE1F6lRc

Hi I see you put a new 72cc top end 👍 Would like to know how did you deal with oil circulation that goes through carburetor body with supply and return tubes ? I’m in similar situation and after whole top end end it buttoned, noticed new cylinder doesn’t have hole to connect oil tube ? Thanks

I have one of these and i just keep it in the box since the rear drive axle comes loose and the drive wheels are very easy to get out of alignment.

I take the tender and boiler shell and add them to a ihc 2-8-0 motorized frame. That way it looks like a Reading engine but runs far better than the Bachmann frame

This engine might be worth quite a bit of money. Since that roadname is very rare for it.

I take the boiler shells and attach them to motorized frames of ihc or mantua. They might not be prototypical. But they do run a lot better.

I aquired a C & O hudson set a year or two ago for a little over 200.00, it was the only one that I had seen, and I just had to have it.

Wait, I’m not the only one who got Illinois Railway Museum Accurail kits as a child and assembled them poorly? I’m mind blown. For the record, I also weathered mine with brown, green and black crayons.

You need a baggage car but the Southern railway Cresent the paint is wrong. I used to volunteer at NCTM with Jim Wrinn. The colors are Southern green is in the middle with Pullman green on the top and bottom with black on roof. I have many Southern railway PS-4. The set has to be 12 passenger cars.

Of course it runs, A lot of the more toylike models were simple and no nonsense and thus had little to go wrong with them, especially the German Stuff offered by Fleischmann, Distler, Karl BUB, Trix, Konrad Dressler and Marklin.

Super. About 25% of my fleet is Mantua/Tyco. I learned long ago that there are (were) better and kid versions of a lot of the rolling stock, and little clues like handrails or car data printed on the sides can make for a more realistic car. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.

This is a really well done video! I have the same machine that I would like to make some minor repairs. Did you make the 3 6 9 12 rotating targets on the skill shot? I am also looking for those and if you made them....Any interest in making a second set that I could purchase from you? I am in neighboring state Illinois. I also saw your post on Pinsider and was truly disappointed to see no response to your post. Thank you for reading.

Hi! So sorry for the late response. I never got a reply about how to best go about replacing those. I did make some replacement targets myself with what I had posted on pinside. I got original replacements for the 6 and 9 targets but still have yet to install them. If you’re still looking for some I’d be willing to give you a few, just reach out to me on any of my socials.

The Overland limited is a nice train once you get the track adjusted to where it likes it and don't keep derailing.

I saw 60008 Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2013 when it was on display at the National Railway Museum in York, England, alongside the other five surviving A4's. It was a celebration of the 75th anniversary of A4 4468 [later 60022] Mallard achieving the world speed record for a steam locomotive.

I own an identical model with the 5 passenger car set, I got mine from consignment at the model railroad club I am part of for the low price of 90 dollars. I had no idea how rare this model was! plus it is possible to DCC these models with it having a can motor. I tried with mine but it didn't run very fast and it overheated the motor but I found out AFTER I removed the dcc system that the solder connection for the pilot truck was touching the bottom of the can motor. So, I need to isolate the motor better. Under DC power the model speeds along just fine while pulling my passenger car set with ease.

I have that same Challenger and its a stunning loco. Someone had dropped it so I bought it as a wreck, but luckily I was able to bring it back to life. I also just received a 1977 2 8 8 2. Santa Fe. Even though they are not as powerful as the Red box version, I love that they have pressed steel chassis on the trucks instead of cast and the carters are also metal. The old motors can be serviced and these pick up straight from the chassis, so no problems with the pistons pickups of later models, and not plastic on the valve gear either!!
