Going to a Train Show With Only $20 - Unusual Find!

Best thing about toy/train shows is you can often find old out of production rolling stock often for very cheap and in good shape. I like sorting through the 'bargain bins' for things like old Tyco train cars, etc. I've built up a collection of rolling stock that way usually for $3.00-$10.00 per piece. Train shows are great fun and interesting just to see the variety of stuff out there.

My first train show was a smaller affair held at a local banquet hall, but for $20 I got a pair of Walthers covered hopper kits (a NATX Trinity 4-bay hopper and a CNW Trinity 2-bay cement hopper) and a mystery RS-11 that someone painted in BN livery but didn't follow the Two Thin Coats rule, among other things.

Sadly the hobby has been inundated with greedy and very uneducated sellers. Most are really good folk and the few scalpers at these places are very easy to pick out and then promptly ignore. Trains doesn't automatically mean 100's of $$$ but you always find those Lily and Larry we found Grandpa's trains folks trying to get $300 for a 70's tyco kids set. Love these shows but they don't come thru my area often enough. Great walk around video!

Mic wire issues on narration but you had no trouble dubbing that music. For my two cents worth I’d rather you lost the music and did a voiceover narration.

If I was asking for opinions on the music I would appreciate the input, but I wasn’t. I’ve since bought a new microphone. Making these videos is thankless enough as it is, so I edit the videos for my enjoyment alone, and I like the music. As such I’ll be keeping it in future uploads as well.

Because often at a train show it’s not encouraged to film, and other people want to look at booths. I film as slow as is reasonable, and you’ll find that I try to film significantly clearer and longer than others doing videos on train shows. You’re welcome to go watch other content though!
