In Singapore, there are some brutal punishment like flogging and they should abolish it. Punishment is too harsh and tough, comparing other developed countries. There is no freedom of speech and protest and it's not even democracy. Why nobody criticize and blame Singapore for human rights abuses? Because they're rich? Singapore is clean and wealthy but they're nothing but problematic on some points from perspectives of international standards.

Sorry for ignorant Japanese who came here😅 Your criticism to Japan is valid and legitimate so we can improve it. Japanese people's English proficiency is terrible and worst.

Most of us in Singapore who have lived the sweltering heat & humidity, do not like it. So we turn the A/C down & go to countries that are cooler. We love it when it's cooler because the heat is unbearable.

You say that you can ask for food substitutions and modifications in Europe, but I have been kicked out of restaurants in Italy because I asked for those. In singapore I have never been kicked out just for asking 😅 I always assumed it'd be like that too in the Italian speaking areas in Switzerland... is it not?

Singaporean here, to answer your question about aircon, it has to be done that way. This is because most of the Malls have centralised aircon, they have the main aircon unit at the roof top depending on the number of floors, the conditioned air need to travel down. So to make sure the air-con can cool everyone, it has to be made the lowest possible. Dating - lets go on one, I am well travelled but I am not looking for a partner, maybe I can help you out. Bureacracy, there is no choice, Singapore is a finance hub and has already overtake switzerland in terms of banking secrecy. So, to prevent abuse and fraud, it has to be managed that way. Bubble, yes, I do agree with you on that, Singaporeans are so fortunate to live in an almost crime free environment, that ties in with the mobility and also advancements in technology. I had to travel for face to face meetings with clients so I travelled a lot, but now, you can meet face to face via webcams, so the opportunity for travel has been reduced. So the internet has pulled people closer and yet pushed people further apart. Last inflexibility, you have to look at the person serving you. Younger people tend to stick to the rules depicted by management whilst older people are more service oriented and try to play around the rules. Like if you wanted milk on the side, I would tell you that it is not possible but I will give you a wink and then deliver milk to you separately in a disposable cup. Not sure if thats a good thing, but Singaporeans are trained to be like robots, which was good previously but not for the service industry.

Hello, I totally love your videos On the air-con topic, it really depends on individual 'insulation coat'. A blessed svelte lady like you, it's too cold; polar me will sweat 😂

Singaporean here. Without the aircon being set 16-20 degrees, I would have move to a cooler country. 26 degrees is too warm for me. Many of my colleagues also have the same view as well. Shopping malls and offices are our only escape from the heat. 🤣

When you started this channel, I sort of sighed and shook my head and knew that one day you would bring up the dating problem like countless other women from Europe who left Singapore precisely because of this issue. Best of luck really, miracles do happen.

2 bedroom rent in the heartland costs from SGD2000 to SGD2400 excluding monthly utilities. Not expensive if shared between 2 or 3 people😊

One of the reasons why restaurants/gyms seem inflexible is because the service staff don't want to be questioned by management but for some are okay, especially if it is a small or their own business.

in addition, fries and rices are NOT swappable and not the same price! here i agree the person insist the food culture, unless they mention it can be pasta or rice (like the case in hong kong)

What!? you hate Singapore!? I think you shouldn't marry a Singaporean guy. Maybe you should try living in other country like China or U.S.A, look at both these countries: 1) China, they can't even use Facebook or KZbin! 2) America, In L.A there's wild fire going wild & in America, YOU CAN'T EVEN USE TikTok!!!! (Mmmmm, how come U.S.A sounds similar to China? huh?) The only good thing about America is that you can USE GUN. The Bottomline is be grateful that you are living in Singapore. All these things that you listed "You HATE" are noting compare with other countries. Don't worry, Be Happy.👍

Hi Marion. Singaporean here. I just subscribed to your channel. Your views are pretty frank. Maybe I can put certain things in context. 1) Banks - they are very fearful of money laundering (because the regulators will go after them for any breach). A foreign friend of mine wanted to open a bank account in Singapore and they wouldn't let him - even though he is pretty rich but that is beside the point. The banks have to follow the rules very strictly or risk facing the regulators. 2) Air conditioning - I get this one haha but the government did encourage companies to keep the thermostat to a certain temperature but I guess they need to be fined to make them wake up. 3) Inflexibility - I am not too sure about this one but most of the time, they accommodate me. Of course, you cannot ask the restaurant to change pork to lobster which would border on ridiculousness. Finally, Singapore is an Asian society. To many white people, they cannot understand certain things like why youngsters at 30 years old are still living with their parents. We value family bonds a lot and if the kids choose to move out, it is perfectly fine too. There is no right or wrong. It is a cultural thing. I know that in the West, some people call their parents by name. That will never ever happen in an Asian society like Singapore.

It not hard dating in Singapore coz there is a lot of choice in a different races. Here are an example; Malay married Chinese, Indian, westerners, etc. Chinese married Malay, Indian, westerners, etc. Indian married Malay, Chinese, westerners, etc. The best is, you need to know which flavor for your own soulmate in dating. ✌️♥️

The reason Western women find dating hard in Singapore is because they're generally not very attracted to Asians and there's only a very small pool of other Westerners that are living there. Western men don't have the problem of finding dating hard in Singapore.

Finding the right person can certainly take time, and there's no set timeline for life's milestones. Focusing on personal goals and achievements is admirable. Building a secure foundation for the future is a wise decision. The journey of finding a partner is unique to each individual. It's important to prioritize personal happiness and well-being throughout life's various stages. By the way, not all Singaporean married early 😅 I'm still single, too 😂

Good to hear from long-term expat on these hates, thx for the frankness! But I particularly like the one about Singaporeans living in a bubble, and not too interested in the outside world. While definitely there are a few who are not, mostly I find it difficult to engage in informed exchange with typical Singaporean on subjects like, say the Hamas Israel war, or what is really happening in China. What comes back to me is always some hackneyed cliches without proper thought! Alamak!!!.... And yes, I am a Singaporean - but too old for you, hehe! I really wish you would find someone with whom to spend the rest of your life happily - hopefully in a tropical climate, and just as 'interesting' (in your view) as Singapore (no need to be Singapore lor!)

Singapore is where my heart is at. Super efficient place, super safe for natives and immigrants alike, all the basic neccesities are walking distance away. You'd never require a car to survive here unlike US. I know everyone has different priorities regarding the lifestyle they want. But for a rule abiding introvert like me Singapore is closest to utopia i can get in this planet. It is absolutely not for a person who has difficulty following rules and regulations (most people from 3rd world will fall into this category) Japan and rest of East asia is preferable too but they are very homogeneous and you will never truly fit in. Singapore is multicultural, and offers something for everyone. I am blessed and privileged to be living here. ✨ I hope Singaporeans realize how privileged they are.

Many years ago I visited Switzerland and had my first cheese fondue in a restaurant in Zermatt. I remembered the restaurant was very empty. It was only me and another couple. When the cheese fondue was served to me, the couple sitting a few tables away from me must have noticed that I'm struggling to figure out how to eat this thing. The guy came up to me and said, "if you don't mind, my wife would like to show you how to eat the cheese fondue." I was quite taken aback by this guy's gesture. Anyway, I accepted his offer. So, the wife demonstrated the proper way to prep and eat the cheese fondue to me. Then, we proceeded to chat and they learned that I'm a lone traveller who is holidaying in Switzerland. I also learned that they are Swiss and they are staying in I think Interlaken if I recalled correctly. They have 2 kids and they left them at home while they are coming to Zermatt for vacation. What caught me by surprise next was that they offered me to go to their home for dinner! Inside my mind, this is a big red flag because this couple is too hospitable and friendly to a stranger. I politely declined their offer giving them the excuse that I do not want to disturb them. Suddenly, their faces changed to less friendly and they went back to their table.
