LOL…this is like saying “XYZ” player is the greatest baseball player of all time - in 1850. Pickleball is not even in the infant stages as of now, because there really is no money in it for a wide range of “professionals” to make a living at it…the few doing so now are nothing more than equipment spokesmen. Once the money comes in and a deep professional league exists, there is no such thing as “world class” talent in pb…it’s a bunch of guys and gals that couldn’t hack it in tennis for now…

You swap Collin Johns out for say an aggressive right side player like Hayden Patriquin or Gabe Tardio and Ben will continue to dominate men’s doubles. Collin is holding him back

Great video. Here’s what I believe is missing in the analysis within the video: Ben’s dominance is seemingly waning not just because the game is evolving, faster and more aggressive, which is a factor, but because 1/ Ben picked his brother as a partner who is not adjusting well to the changes ( aka, Collin is not good enough); Ben could easily partner with the best players out there. 2/ Ben has been dominating for so long, called the goat for so long, he is in my opinion not as hungry or eager to dominate, to prove his worth and so on. You need an inner fire to stay on top and do whatever it takes to win. That said, let’s see what he chooses to do next. He’s not one to play a forceful, grinding game and hustle his way to victory (which would be contrary to his brilliance anyway). But he is young and in my opinion far and away above the rest in terms of pickleball mastery, so he is not necessarily done ultra dominating the sport. The ball is in his court as they say.

And for just that reason I completely don’t watch pro mixed pickleball. Until Ben and ALW separate, it’s completely boring to watch because you already know who’s going to win gold. Thankfully men’s doubles is getting exciting to watch again.

Are you a person that is ruled by your own ego? You would be a happier person if you can let your ego go. The more of it that you can let go about any aspect of your life will make you happier but that is only if you can recognize when you are being ruled by your ego. Some people go through life blind but never even realize it.

Another great video thank you for your in depth analysis as always Wes. His ping pong and tennis background kind of reminds me of how some of the best UFC fighters were wrestlers in their youth. Johns success is a testament to the benefits of cross training with other sports to develop a unique skillset that leads to greatness and serves as an enormous slap in the face to the hyper specialization parents force kids into as young athletes...yes in the short term the kid will be better in their respective domain but long term they are going to sit bench to those with exposure to other sports growing up

Hey, guess what. Us recreational players do not care about your millennial rules. We, and I do mean the plural, do not participate in tournaments stacked against lower players. We, again the majority of original players, play for exercise and social interaction. Not to showboat.

Yes they absolutely can anyone can beat anyone on any given day especially in sports with fewer participants, heck it even happens in games with 44 participants like football...think Appalachian state vs Michigan in 07. All you need in this scenario is the set of level 5 players to be off their game for one hour.

I think all pros should bring a delaminated paddle and aderol to every game. When the person is cheating with an an illegal racket and roids… whip it out and kick their butt to teach them a lesson

Who would invest in a pickleball merch company with a bad logo? I guess these people would and did, but it doesn't make any sense why they would ever think it's legit. That would not be a business a normal person would think would generate much if any profit. Not an investable company. It's just a small home based business that doesn't deserve investors.

I could see the spin on those 3rd shot drops they were giving you 👀 This is how most games go against the actual 5.0/Pro players when you aren't at that level, they control the game the entire time and keep the pressure on with every hit. You guys honestly didn't do as bad as you think.

This serve controversy is just the tip of the iceberg to pickleball's REAL problem. PB's governing body insists on so many rules that restrict offensive capabilities from the game wherever possible. Most obvious are paddle spec restrictions, all the rules pertaining to the NVZ, one bounce rule and, of course, the serve restrictions. So, as a tennis player who learned long ago how to return 100 mph slice and kick serves, I see significantly reduced development of amateur level PB players because of all the rules that dumb the game down. Tactically speaking, the current rules render PB a (boring to watch) defensive game as opposed to (exciting) offensive game. **The huge majority of games played in PB are NOT won by the player/team who hit the most winners, but by the player/team who hit fewer errors.**
