This is reason enough to warrant "some" of the cost of that SD2SNES cartridge. Might have to finally purchase one. There are quite a LOT of MSU-1 patches/music/content available as of 2022 as well. Great time to test this stuff out whether emulation or with an MSU-1 enhanced cart.

Is the X-Wing : Reconstructed project definitely dead ? Could there be any way to help ? The TIE Fighter : Reconstructed mod is a beautiful thing, wish there was the same for X-Wing ! Fantastic work on the reorchestration !

Thanks. I've been looking for this music for years. I had a project of re-making Tie fighter's Intro with some cinematic scenes and until now i've found the original music with a good quality sound card. Until youtube's search engine gave me this result. 😅

Years ago, I offered it to the TFTC remake project, and they seemed pretty into it. But I guess in the intervening 7 years or so, they decided not to go with it.

The "Vader force-chokes Admiral Harkov" execution cutscene has a similar vibe to the scene in Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom movie where the sacrifice victim guy got sacrificed in the Thugee ceremony. In both cases, you have a humiliating death. The only difference is that Admiral Harkov deserved a humiliating death (because of his treason), the sacrifice guy in Indiana Jones was innocent. But you gotta admit, both scenes give off a similar vibe, no?

In case it is also not working for you, beware that you have to read the readme VERY CAREFULLY. It tells you that you need "Snes9x 1.55" and I was using Snes9x 1.54 or whatever (idk why) having the result that it didn't work. Now, using Snes9x 1.6 the opening scene is there, the new music, I can finally play I hope, fantastic!

On my FX Pak Pro, the FMV intro loads, but the video is badly corrupted, audio still plays fine, no idea what I'm doing wrong with it.

Odds are that your SD card isn't fast enough - this is a common issue when the SD card can't transmit data as fast as the Cartridge demands. Make sure you're using a Class-10 card from a reputable manufacturer.

@@FullFrontalNerdity the microSD card I bought was a scandisk ultra plus microsdxc uhs-I A1 64gb with speed up to 130 MB/s reformatted to 32 FAT with GUI editor, and I barely understand what any of those specs mean because I'm not that tech-savy. I don't see an indication of "class" anywhere on the packaging, unless that C with a 10 in it means Class 10, just a guess. Is there a recommendation?

@@VRHyoumaru That icon does indeed indicate Class 10. Hmm. Sandisk is a good brand, and on paper, everything sounds like it should be perfect. One other thing you might try is defragmenting the card - if the data is heavily fragmented, it can cause high seek times, and that can also cause the issue you're seeing.

I must've played this game and its expansions from start to finish a dozen times throughout my life. The dynamic music was an amazing achievement, only emulated by non-MIDI music in recent years. It contributed so much to the atmosphere and the hype your felt when destroying those puny rebels and those treasonous imperial commanders

man, this is great. I wish you guys had finished that X-Wing reconstruction mod. With all the post Disney crap and EA crap, all I want is the older Star Wars stuff restored.

It's too bad this doesn't work as well as advertised. It's not a drop-in replacement for the iMUSE system. Would've been truly amazing if it had been. It's not as reactive when in the actual missions.

That's because it CAN'T be. The iMUSE system is only possible with MIDI sound, and the music engine was completely re-written to use rebook audio for the CD versions. It was amazing that we had a programmer skilled enough to hack our stuff into the game as-is, but without access to the original source code, there was no possible way to re-implement iMUSE. We had to make a compromise, and this was the best option.
