As I started a bicycle trip from europe in 2015 I bought one of the first Wakako mini pressos produced. They sold them months before delivery. I was happy with it as I started from france eastwards. After about 6 months, somewhere in Persia, the brewing quality started to decrease. The plastik components started to leak, it wasn't enjoyable at all. I contacted Wacaco a few times and could have visited them as I cycled through eastern China (where they are produced), but they never responded. I eventually discarded it in Chile, 4 years after purchase, but with only about 6 months of actual usage. 100 brews? There were several funny moments along the way, specially at bordercheckpoints. In Turkmenistan they thought it was a tube-bomb but luckily they let me demonstrate its use, to every ones amusement. I hope the newer models are better made than my version. Over all I was disappointed and considering my service experience with Wacaco I would not buy another one.

I love my nanopresso though I've started getting a pressure leak from the pump housing it self, Product is out of warranty so I'm going to be moving on to the GR2 since that looks like a nice upgrade. I would say that based on my passed experience with the nanopresso the device will be good for around 800-1000 cups before having issues (I've had 4 now and I'm perfectly happy with how long they last) I just wish there was a way to replace the seals on the nanopresso pump since thats always the part that fails on my devices ... except for the rev.1 device just after launch the polymer on those were not amazing and I cracked my first one about 3 month after purchase. I'd recommend the wocaco nanopresso to anyone trying to get away from your average burned instant coffee taste and getting into good jo. their warranty has been amazing for me and I must say that if you're like me making 3 cups a day since you just use it out of convenience then it'll last you quite a while and by the time it does die you'll be aching for something new anyway (From french press to dripping in my Chemex I must say the wacaco is a goto)

I own a picopresso since Jan 2023. Unfortunately the rubber around the shower develop to holes, then the machine is not able to build pressure anymore. Does someone know where to find spare parts? I already contacted wacaco support however, they just send me the link of the online store. Do they are suggesting me to buy a complete new one?

I travel a lot and like to take 2-3 coffees with me, I guess none of these can really compete, with just a normal V2 dripper or even Aeropress.

The way you describe the tasting notes of the espresso really tells me nothing as a viewer. What do you mean by “obviously on the darker side, but sweeter”? Italians dose 14 grams for a dopio. Compared to the modern espresso dose, that’s 4 grams less, so it’s gonna be on the lighter side if anything. And you just can’t describe the taste notes to be darker and sweeter at the same time. Similarly, when you had that ristretto, you described it as, more acidic but sweeter at the same time. If it’s more acidic, it’s gonna taste more sour if anything else. I just can’t stand pretence. If you don’t know or don’t understand something, just say you don’t. Nobody’s hating you for that.

so my understanding of prices from all of this waves 1. 4th Wave (most expensive, because it happens now that limited seat courses with limited micro/nano lot competition grade beans used and brewed by WCC Winners) 2. 3rd Wave (the one who started it all and more accessible than 4th Waves) 3. 5th Wave (a nerfed 3rd Wave or upgraded 2nd Wave, but having much more store branch and bigger cozier place) 4. 2nd Wave (Starbucks, Kenangan Coffee, Janji Jiwa, Luckin, Cotti, Tomoro) 5. 1st Wave (Folgers, Maxwell, Kapal Api and traditional roasting process like Nanyang Coffee)

For under $100 you can get a moka pot for espresso style coffee, a french press for regular coffee and another small press to use as a milk frother. No nasty pods, no maintenance, no waste, no lost counterspace, extremely long life of equipment, and lots of flexibility from ratios and grinds

the one thing we Americans screwed up the sake we get imported to the US . decades age some Americans complained sake was to week so the Japanese started adding alcohol to all the sake imported to the US. so now we can't get a genuine good sake unless we go to Japan . it's the sake makers retribution for a bunch of idiots from decades ago that we still pay for today .

To a Japanese, it may be strong also. Something about Asian genetics makes them not process alcohol as well. That is why in anime you see the red flush. It happened to a classmate of mine after one beer, and he taught me of this phenomenon.
