@TerrorDeathsCircus In this version he seems to be immortal to some extent. The prospect of living forever after his closest friend has just died seemed horrific. He was excited to finally die because he wasn’t sure if he was able to.

I love what the chorus has to say to Ulysses, alluding to the fact that he has pissed off the gods and is about to get his punishment
@thecavalry57645 сағат бұрын
Yea it’s really cool. I love Ulysses’ arc overall in the musical. The fact that he knows he will be punished but just needs the war to end. The Trojan horse was his last resort.
@nidhikhare25752 күн бұрын
0:48 to 1:18 I think Odysseus/Ulysses here is referring to the plow incident, considering how disdainfully he speaks of agamemnon Since he didn’t want to go to the war he pretended to have gone mad,but then agamemnon put Odysseus's baby, telemachus in front of his plow to check if it was true or not, of course Odysseus stopped his plow in order to not crush his son but that proved he wasn't insane so he had to go to troy,"we are not here by choice" seems to confirm that,while most accounts claim it was palamedes who threatened telemachus it seems that they went with the version where agamemnon threatened telemachus, so when Ulysses says that he is a wordly man but he never forgets he is basically telling agamemnon that even though he is usually grounded and calm he won't forget nor forgive the fact agamemnon put telemachus in danger
@thecavalry57642 күн бұрын
@@nidhikhare2575 That actually makes so much sense! I had assumed that plow incident hadn’t happened in Paris since they are planning the war before Helen was kidnapped so the oath didn’t apply. However given Ulysses’ lines here I do now believe that something similar to the plow trick did happen. It definitely explains why Ulysses seems to pissed at Agamemnon and is trying to avoid a war at all costs.
