I can’t complain too much, I’ve been wanted the Bruins to get tougher for years. They did that but the also got incredibly undisciplined. This team also has any carrying enough top 6 talent to make up for the bottom 6. I would’ve never given Swayman the deal he got. Too small a sample. He certainly hasn’t played like a top 5-10 goalie but he’s being paid like one.

Sure, the BRUINS need Poitras' determination, good vision and physicality. But it's sad that Lysell is the one being sacrificed. His first game was excellent: good skating, good positioning, good passer, natural scorer's intuition. All he needs to do is get in sync with the speed of the NHL game. In my opinion, the player to be relegated to Providence should have been Frederic. Obviously, that won't happen for several reasons. Among others, his reputation as a player who doesn't hesitate to drop the gloves and who has proven his high potential in combat. The problem is that he has forgotten (like many other players in his category) why he is in the NHL. Some players drafted for their intimidating character suddenly start behaving like finesse players either as soon as they are used on the first two lines or as soon as they start collecting points regularly. Frederic seems to have displayed this attitude since the start of the season.

Here's my 3 cents: I am fine with going slow on call ups. I understand what Monty was doing, with mix and match, and all different lineups. he was seeing NO SPARK at all from 3 of 4 lines, so, he was trying ANYTHING. However, since Sacco took over, we've seen some consistency, and THAT has paid off. If the B's made that lysell move, for the family good for them! it will go a LONG way in the room. Now, Poitras? Give him all the time in the AHL. There's more time in the year to make moves... and why risk any issues with Waivers, now? We made need some short terms call ups, or even longer term replacements as bodies wear and tear. Right now, leave the 4 C's as we have them, and let Poitras, and Merkulov ferment and develop.

I would like to see Poitras back up, but…if he benefits more from his time in Providence then by all means give him time. This organization has a chance to do something positive and start emphasizing the younger guys and thinking about the future of the team instead of the next year or two. There is some good talent in the pipeline and I would like to see the Bruins develop that talent and build a good foundation for the future. Throwing these kids into the mix before they’re ready isn’t fair to them and can effectively end their careers before they’re started. Poitras, Lysell and Merkulov are the future…if they’re allowed to develop. I agree with your point that things may be changing in the Sacco era.

I didn't mind the Bs sending Poitras to Providence, even though I think he could help the big club. The Bs have mismanaged prospects for years. Guys get a few games to make an impact and if they don't they're immediate sent back down. Meanwhile, they'll allow vets, some with very limited ceilings, to struggle for months without blinking an eye.

The reason why we dont develop our youth is because we give them no chance. Sorry but giving wahlstrom and Johnson a bigger chance then Lysell, Poitras and Merki sends a bad message, same with the signings of Tufte and Johnson. We would rather give other teams draft busts a chance over our own guys.

Poitras still needs to learn to skate with better intent, and with his head up more frequently. he is still on th small side of size to be skating as reckless (brave) as he tries to do. credit his courage but protect yourself too. He is faster than his linemates when he is brought up so that tends to hold him back more. Lysell looked pretty good and didnt seem to be out of place. but i did say before bring up the Baby Bs line of Poitras, Lysell and Merkulov

So. My question is why can’t they both be up and healthy scratch someone who has been under preforming. So sit them for a game or two.

Letting Lysell make his debut while his family was here was a classy move if that was the reason. I have seen Providence a few times this year and Lysell and Poitras are both playing well. Bruins management might want to have the coach in Providence come work with the NHL players on the power play as the Prov power play is looking much better than the NHL team. Both players are getting alot of minutes in the Ahl so it would be counterproductive to bring either up to be a scratch or maybe get 8-10 minutes a game. As we get closer to the trade deadline it can be looked at again when we see if the B's are buyers or sellers

Methinks the key question here is what Poitras has culled via AHL experience that can be applied to the next level. And he already knows what;'s in store for consistent NHL play. Some of these guys get beaten up after a stint because they are simply not used the rigorous NHL season. The college kid that plays 35 games might tail off after 10-20 games which is almost their past season. So, gathering the higher level play in conjunction with more of a marathon (as opposed to a sprint) mentality might be the long-term solution.

Doesnt make sense to leave Poitras in the AHL. He is small yes but the AHL is certainly not a less physical league, if anything its a tougher league full of bottom 6 guys trying to get noticed. He has proven to have the skill to play in the NHL and is a far better option on that third line than Freddy or Wahlstrom. Kid needs to develop in the NHL and learn how to play against faster more talented competition
