My guess is that the inconsistency comes from the valve rod riding on o rings free-riding against a cone shape hole. The o ring extrudes because it is not seated against a flat surface. Every shot needs to break the rod free, wearing the o ring down and creating gunk on the valve rod. The gunk (plus the stiction) create the inconsistency (and the need for numerous warm up shots after letting the gunk sit for more than 2 minutes). FX is aware of the issue btw (even Ernest made them aware long ago), they just don’t care cause impacts sell anyway.

You dont load properly the pellets in the magazine.the magazine comes out and you load it well then you put it on and you cock it and shoot.no way you lose pellets from this gun.i have it too and it works perdectly.

Again very informative Peter, thank you. Your unbiased videos set you apart from the rest. What might be a nice idea for a video is not only tuning for accuracy, but also for efficient air consumption. This is achieved by using a 20% higher regulator pressure than the pressure at which you have your ideal speed. This all without losing accuracy.

Thanks buddy and thanks for your input 👍👍 Im actually using your suggested way of tuning in my next video. Not meant as a tuning video, but it does show that there is accuracy and low spread when using higher reg preasures. The thing about air consumption when tuning with high reg preasures is that you use less air pr shot, yes - but you loose shots by not having them available at the end of the fill. So if you compare two reg settings. 110 and 150 bar. You will have to fill earlier with the high reg 🙂 So 40 bar earlier. Overall yes it gives more shots, but not pr fill. I have been avoiding the high reg, but after producing my upcomming video I must say that it shoots really well like this 🙂

@@VikingAirgunner Totally agree! It is often misunderstood, but the most efficient air usage does not necessarily mean the highest shotcount per fill. As you pointed out in one of your videos, spread is important, but nothing to fixate on. Within 10 fps you are okay for accuracy. Looking forward to your next video and findings, thanks!

Hello fellow shooter, thank you very much for passing on this information. I have been confused lately with my regulator for regulating well with a pressure of 200 bar from the bottle to 145 bar in the Plenum. Every time I put 240 bar in the 350cc bottle, the regulator suffered a lot and fired few shots constantly until it ran dry at 190 bar from the bottle. My regulator has 13 very thin plate springs that are quite sensitive to high pressure in the bottle. I will add another regulator and make a larger Plenum to use 110 bar with 90cc of Plenum. I will use thicker plate springs in the first regulator to work with more resistance and the second regulator with the standard springs. I use .177 pellet 13 grain. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷.

I have shot quite a few 10 gr KO MK3 slugs lately. Not shooting them much out to +100 M but hitting a cardboard inner roll from duct tape, with 5 lines hold over and 10 - 15 CM to account for the wind, well surprising many little holes appeared in the cardboard roll on the wooden post at 120 M. Of course not going away from my 13 and 16 grain slugs, but i am shooting other stuff too, even pellets. Shot shed nice and comfortably, i assume soon you will have to take a break.

I have a .177 AirForce Talon 18" and enjoy it so much more than my fx impact .22, that i bought an Fx dynamic .177 compact and 600 mm. This was a great video. I am trying to get my Fx dynamic 600 mm to shoot the 13.4 jdb ko as well as my AF Talon does. You answered a major question i had. Does the FX 600 mm .177 come with a heavy liner or was that just .22 and up. Now that I know it does. I have confidence that I can get the fx dynamic. Shooting jsb ko 13.4gr as well as the talon 18" LW barrel.. which is not a slug barrel???. Cheers

I have had my M4 Extended .22 for 1.5 weeks and it even shoots groups of 10cm in diameter at 50m, so really bad with the factory settings. After 3 evenings of trying with different pressure on the Plenum (standard 150B), it is now at 100Bar. The groups were getting better and better, but had grown to about 5cm. So not HOLE within HOLE. The factory speed of JSB 15.89 was 1225 ft/s or 375 m/s, so far above the speed of sound. (nice those loud bangs). Then I found out that the barrel was on the Slugs port (from the factory). Converted to the Pellet port and the speed went back to about 1020 ft/s. But unfortunately the group became smaller and smaller, but NOT HOLE in HOLE. Now 4 evenings later, I accidentally discovered that the JSB 18.1 shoots much better and is now (almost) Hole IN Hole. Ergo every version of the FX Impact M4 is different.

Hi Peter, Thank you for your efforts in testing the first stage regulator. I would like to confirm my understanding that the primary advantage of utilizing the first stage regulator is to ensure stable pressure, as well as to facilitate the use of a 300 Bar cylinder, which allows for an increased volume of air and consequently, more shots.

Try maxing out your hammer spring and valve adjuster for what ever reg setting you desire. Once you find your max velocity, adjust your valve tell the velocity begins to drop. Then lower your hammer spring adjuster until the velocity drops too. Adjust your hammer wheel until you find your desired velocity or accuracy

Hi Peter, Here's a tough question. My FX Panthera is a 600 mm arrel 22 caliber. I would have liked a 700 mm but it's just too long. I was told ideally a 30 grain or maybe a 32 grain slug with a 600 mm barrel is optimal. With a 700 mm Barrel you can easily shoot 40 grain 22 cal slugs. My question is you wanted more energy and switched over to say a 25 cal or a 30 cal barrel liner while keeping the 600 mm barrel can you make up the difference of not having a 700 barrel where you can shoot 40 grain 22 cal slugs? In other words will it somehow equal out shooting 600 mm Barrel 30 cal 40 grain slug as compared to shooting with a 700 mm barrel with a 22 caliber 40 grain slug in terms of accuracy and FPE / energy?

On the M4 I still have slow in the first shots. Tested it today actually and it was almost up to speed in the 6th shot (-6 fps) Full recovery took 15 shots 😳 Cheep trick is to start out by increasing the power wheel by two click and the turning it down as the velocity raises. Not a perfect solution, but it beats shooting 40 fps below 🤔

Great video, I used to tune I think is an old way , where first I will open the valve full open then power wheel on maximum power (16) . Then I will start shoot and increase the spring tension clicks until the speed will not increase any more. Next step I will turn the valve wheel to close by about 1/4 turn each time until the speed start to drop then ,then return ( open ) just about 1/4 to the to get that high speed .the third step is to shoot at each power wheel (example start from 8 , until 16) at each power I will make a group of five shots to find a best group which i will use to shoot at . But I think your new way it seems to me it will be better to try , because I think you tune valve at wanted speed so you will have No waste extra air which might cause inaccurate . I will try your way I hope for better results. Question: why you start by finding maximum speed then you go back to set the power wheel to the wanted speed + 20-30fps?, why you didn’t go to direct to find the wanted speed +20-30? Thanks for good video.
@VikingAirgunner
@VikingAirgunner 19 күн бұрын
There are many methods and thank you for sharing yours 🙂 Right or wrong is only determined by accuracy 😎 The way I tune is to get better harmonics. If it is 1010 max - turn down 20 and the rest by the front valve adjuster. Or it is other values is free for anyone to interpet. Again - whatever works is good 😎 I like this way since it eliminated the slow and low in the first attempts, and of cause the super feel and accuracy 🙂

I have try your way it seems to be good . I wanted a velocity of 950fps , I have checked the maximum speed is 970fps . So I have adjusts the hammer power wheel and clicks to 970fps.and then the valve adjuster to 950fps. As you can see I have adjusted hammer spring to my maximum speed, is this correct? Or do you think if I raise the 2nd air regulator little more to be above 970fps example 990 or more. Will this improve the consistency Results? I think I will try that.
