Thanks for sharing! My feedback: if you share something like this one may want to very briefly discuss your thoughts are i.e. what wiring to do or not to do (to save costs). Also, doing all electrics including aircon for a say 3 bedroom house in Italy, and including some outside lighting, what kind of money is one thinking of? Is it less than 5,000 to have all the wiring and electricity redone? And how about the costs for new plumbing, are houses connected to the sewage system or not etc. I think some people may be interested to hear. In any way, good luck with your endeavours!

Thanks! Yes we will be doing work when we get there. We wanted the messy stuff done on the interior before we arrive. So we have a clean space. Because the rest will be a mess. Lol. We will definitely be sharing costs and whatnot. Alot we still don't know ourselves.

Nice to see you both, welcome to Shaun on youtube! Interesting additions to the first impressions/purchase story by Shaun; when only one person is telling the story one often leaves out a lot of details or emotions which the other one does observe. Will you guys do some work yourself like some painting, or have everything done? I am having a debate" whether it is better to buy a slightly cheaper property then having a lot of building done or buy a slightly more expensive one which is ready to move in with minor changes needed.

I think it's has to do with cash on hand. I didn't want a mortgage so we chose based on what we could pay cash for. If we had the cash to pay for a done house. Maybe. This is such a great and personal adventure right now. We wouldn't do it differently.

Ciao Renzo😀.....This is a great video cause you are sharing all the "minutia" involved with getting ready to move, it's all good info. I watch a you tube site called "Salento with love", and learn much about the Italian approach to refurbishment, restoration, and construction techniques. You may find it an interesting watch as you and Shawn segue into your new casa. As for what content to include in your future videos,.... to me, creative journeys are all about "process" anyway. So it's good to see all the small, slow stuff as you guys move forward!....looking very much forward to your future videos🙏💙👌

Hi Renzo. Myself and partner live in Fort Myers. We purchased in Cefalu Sicily. But looking for a permanent home possibly Gallipoli or elsewhere in Puglia. We plan to spend winters in Florida and Summers in Italy. My partner is a Italian citizen that came to USA at 2 yrs of age. He speaks fluent italian. Can we talk? Can we meet? Howard and Salvatore.
@NakedPuglia8 күн бұрын
Definitely , email me and let's chat. Nardo, Gallipoli and the surrounding areas are great if you're just going to be seasonal. We're an hour and a half north of there.

@NakedPuglia Hi Renzo. We live off Daniel's parkway. We are looking for a place with a garage to leave a car in Italy. The apartment in Cefalu is in historic district where we walk to everything even beach. My friend who just sold in Milan and has lived in Italy entire life moved to Benidorm Spain. He says Puglia is a good investment.

My husband and I moved from NYC to Barcelona in 2018. We chose to ship a 20 foot container for the price you were quoted. We preferred that option since there was only one thing to track plus they did all the packing and unpacking. We were ruthless about purging what we’d collected over 40 years. When the container was packed there was 23 inches empty…we could have brought more stuff and I don’t regret anything we left behind. I have tips about how to get rid of stuff.
@MrNoncredo23 күн бұрын
if you think about renting a container, the craftsman drawers and the tools you have in the USA, bring them to Italy, because they are expensive here
@jayajaya78823 күн бұрын
I think you should ship if you have items dear to your heart...sometimes it's worth it!! There are just some things that you simply can't find in other Countries that you want to bring with you...I would like more info on shipping costs to Italy if you decide to do so and the company that you decided to go with when they ship your items...I only ask because I have been thinking about shipping Items to Italy if and when I decide to move there...I wish you happiness

I would keep only items I loved. Your moving to build new memories. If you can replace inexpensively or at shipping cost, then leave behind. Any electric will have to rewired in Italy to be to code.
@avantistud24 күн бұрын
I think you are very fond of most of the items you showed us so please keep, I would think the smaller sentimental items can be packed in boxes, the larger items like furniture are the things you need to consider leaving behind not things from your family x

I think you should sell or donate all those things and start fresh in Italy. They have huge antique shops there so much fun to shop for your new home. Except the clock. I loved it.
@puffypanda751624 күн бұрын
If you have to think about anything to take with you, then that means you don’t need it. if you need it, you’ll be taking it. Just do it quickly.
@dune264824 күн бұрын
I would suggest you take the things with you that you really need and then in Italy you start a fresh.
@sharonammirati204224 күн бұрын
Remember that old saying. "less is more".. leave the bunny, Dont burden your new life with "stuff" from your past that you will never think about once you let it go . Just my opinion, plenty of "new" old stuff to acquire in your new countrry . Target elephant? why??
@luciodeluca325724 күн бұрын
Aside from the items that you really cannot part with because of sentimental value, you really do not need to bring anything. For the $10,000 cost of a container, you can buy anything you really need there. Don’t forget about the VAT tax you may have to pay upon declaration. Sell or donate what you can. I’d start fresh except for items you really want to bring.
@sharonammirati204224 күн бұрын
💯 agree
@scottyandhutch24 күн бұрын
From experience a container is the way to go - you can take more and it is secure in transit. Take anything that is practical (e.g. tool kits) or has significant sentimental value - who cares if it is broken, it is just part of the piece's history! Good luck.
@WriterJenOnYT24 күн бұрын
If you can afford to ship everything, go for it. But my suggestion is to get rid of most things that don't really tug at your heartstrings or aren't necessary for your new home.
@mjreyes72524 күн бұрын
HI...I would donate/yard sale most of it and start new, except for a FEW sentimental ones, that would fit in one big box.😁
