Hi there i am also from Florida near Punta Gorda. I moved back to NY after my son graduated from Florida Gulf University. My husband passed the same year. I now have this house in NY paid and renovated. I hate snow and I do not want to retire here in the states. Your channel inspires me to make a move. My dad was 100 percent Sicilian from Palermo and I could get a temporary visa. I will keep watching your channel for renovation ideas. I love gardening so it would be my paradise!!

Sounds good. If I would go to live say in Spain or Italy by myself I would hope to do a crash cours in Spanish/Italian to bring it up to basic lever, so that you can speak with your neighbors and shopkeepers etc, thus reducing the chance of getting socially isolated. Some people say first rent a place. One of the issues is that Italy (and Spain and France) are huge countries. Say that you like a particular region then one town may appeal much more to you than another. One will discover only by visiting I think. Also, distance to the airport may be of importance in making a choice. Good luck!

My great grandparents are from Messina, Sicily. My father is from Benevento, I'm in the process of getting my dual citizenship. I can't wait to get the garden going in Italy. I've tried growing in Florida but the sandy soil is so tough. Come to Italy!

The realtor says she is negotiating with a Swiss Couple. I can pass her whatsapp to you if you like in a private message. I wish I had better photos of it. It has a lot of potential.

Do you have Idealista link for your neighbors house? Does it have star or vault ceilings? What are the sq meters of house and property? What is the name of closest town with services? You got a hell of a deal on your home? It is fab! Looking forward to watching your renovation. You are fortunate to have gates and fence around your property. Congratulations! Any problems with robberies or vandalism is your area? Always concerned about this with countryside homes. Especially being an expat and homes are often vacant. Thanks so much! Ciao tutti

It's right in between Ceglie Messapica and Martina Franca. I reached out to the realtor and will forward the info when she responds. It has cone(trullo) ceilings and barrel vaults.

Maybe you can also discuss how to get to such areas from Bari, Naples (airport) when arriving from abroad. You would need to take an expensive taxi or? And 130k seems overpiced but it is hard to judge without getting good pictures, square metres, distance from public transport /big cities, working electricity? state of the roof? access to running water/sewage? etc. I like seeing new houses but maybe next time share the link to idealista, which would allow us to judge better?

Great questions about home for sale. I’m interested as well. I saw you asked about transportation from airport. Is there a reason why you choose to not rent a car?
@NakedPugliaАй бұрын
I think its way over priced myself. You can take the train from Naples to Ostuni, and rent a car. Or Fly into Bari or Brindisi. Brindisi airport is only 35 minutes away, Bari is an hour and a half. I've reached out to the realtor and will add the info when she responds.

To rent a small Fiat Panda would run you about $1500 a month with Premium car insurance. Noticing the Premium Insurance doesn't fully cover theft which I'm told is big in Italy. I'm thinking if staying for the 3 month limit that comes to $4500 to $5000 which doesn't count hotel rental. What are your plans for car transportation? I heard you can drive for a year but you have to get an Italian drivers license. Not sure if you can buy a car without citizenship. What are your thoughts regarding transportation
@NakedPugliaАй бұрын
I've been lucky with the car rental and actually was able to get a small suv for about 600 per month. If you are a resident you can buy a car, you don't need to be a citizen, nor do you need an italian drivers license. If you are a resident you will need to get an italian license after one year. I hope they change the law, it's so stupid.

@@NakedPuglia You also have to be able to take and pass the driving test in Italian. I doubt they will change any laws soon. I bought a house in Puglia in early 2024 an have learned that the bureaucracy is horrific. The previous owners of the house removed the water meter to avoid taxes. I've been waiting +9 months and it yet to be installed.

Merry Christmas. What made you choose Puglia? Do you fly into Bari? I imagine you have a car? Hot in summer but you live in Florida and probably love the hot temps...When are you moving to Italy? Are you planning on moving or just spending 3 months and 3 months doing the Schengen Shuffle? Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Portugal and Italy in 2025
@NakedPugliaАй бұрын
Thanks, Bari airport is about 1.5 hours. Brindisi is 35 minutes. Coming from the states there is a nonstop from NY to Bari. Coming from Florida there are only nonstops from Miami to Rome. I'm in the process of getting dual citizenship so I will be in Italy full time come May. Weather wise, it gets hot but no different then, not even as bad as, the summers of the US. You definitely need a car. You can't buy one until you have residency(stupid law). So that will wait until I'm there full time, for now I just rent.
@myitaliantherapyginafiore4414Ай бұрын
@@NakedPuglia oh yes the car. I know you have to take your drivers test in Italian in a year after applying for residency. I bought a place in Abruzzo but doing Portugal residency as I bought land with a river on it in central. I plan on spending end seasons in Italy. That's great to know there are direct flights to bari. I live in Uptstate NY and my go to airport now 8 minutes from my house flies to florida or detroit. So I have not figured out where to go when I visit in March. I won't apply until my property in NY sells then I can be released to spend as much time as they make me be in Portugal until I can travel freely. I am so excited as I bet you are. Happy 2025. Heres to new beginnings. buon Natali

I find italy houses are horrendous. Layouts are awful. Tiles are ugly.
@dianesardone4499Ай бұрын
I love Italian houses because there’s flexibility. Rooms can be repurposed, walls moved,,,, and I just love the old style tiles. Each to his own, I guess! Oddly, kitchens are considered furniture in Italy, so when you buy a house, you usually have to buy a kitchen… most go to IKEA.

I can’t remember ever having seen a worse video, gives absolutely no insight into what this house is all about.
