If you can afford to ship everything, go for it. But my suggestion is to get rid of most things that don't really tug at your heartstrings or aren't necessary for your new home.

My husband and I moved from NYC to Barcelona in 2018. We chose to ship a 20 foot container for the price you were quoted. We preferred that option since there was only one thing to track plus they did all the packing and unpacking. We were ruthless about purging what we’d collected over 40 years. When the container was packed there was 23 inches empty…we could have brought more stuff and I don’t regret anything we left behind. I have tips about how to get rid of stuff.

Aside from the items that you really cannot part with because of sentimental value, you really do not need to bring anything. For the $10,000 cost of a container, you can buy anything you really need there. Don’t forget about the VAT tax you may have to pay upon declaration. Sell or donate what you can. I’d start fresh except for items you really want to bring.

HI...I would donate/yard sale most of it and start new, except for a FEW sentimental ones, that would fit in one big box.😁

I think you should sell or donate all those things and start fresh in Italy. They have huge antique shops there so much fun to shop for your new home. Except the clock. I loved it.

I think you are very fond of most of the items you showed us so please keep, I would think the smaller sentimental items can be packed in boxes, the larger items like furniture are the things you need to consider leaving behind not things from your family x

From experience a container is the way to go - you can take more and it is secure in transit. Take anything that is practical (e.g. tool kits) or has significant sentimental value - who cares if it is broken, it is just part of the piece's history! Good luck.

I would keep only items I loved. Your moving to build new memories. If you can replace inexpensively or at shipping cost, then leave behind. Any electric will have to rewired in Italy to be to code.

if you think about renting a container, the craftsman drawers and the tools you have in the USA, bring them to Italy, because they are expensive here

If you have to think about anything to take with you, then that means you don’t need it. if you need it, you’ll be taking it. Just do it quickly.

I would suggest you take the things with you that you really need and then in Italy you start a fresh.

I think you should ship if you have items dear to your heart...sometimes it's worth it!! There are just some things that you simply can't find in other Countries that you want to bring with you...I would like more info on shipping costs to Italy if you decide to do so and the company that you decided to go with when they ship your items...I only ask because I have been thinking about shipping Items to Italy if and when I decide to move there...I wish you happiness

Remember that old saying. "less is more".. leave the bunny, Dont burden your new life with "stuff" from your past that you will never think about once you let it go . Just my opinion, plenty of "new" old stuff to acquire in your new countrry . Target elephant? why??
