North+South American, European, and Oceanian versions have different soundtracks of Astro Boy 2003 series from both Japanese and South Korean versions.

In English speaking countries and even Europe, Blue Knight is called Blue Knight. In Japan, Blue Knight is called Aokishi. In South Korea, Blue Knight is called Cheong-Gisa.

I didn't realize the detail in this episode over a year later: This would be very logical if Epsilon shows up there. Astro/Atom, Atlas and Epsilon are in Metro City so she could be around the Ministry after Atlas attacked at the roadside.

Only thing I wished the Pluto movie had done different was make actual fight scenes against pluto instead of just an ominous storm. North #2 deserved one. Even though he was already masterfully highlighted by his story. I get that the first deaths leave some mystery to who the villain is, just wish North #2 was a later death.

Omg thank you so much for this! I've been a fan of Astro Boy since I was even younger than him, and at the time it was difficult to find the anime and medias like this (that wasn't Japanese) at least more than just a few scenes. I'm glad that now after all the time I can watch and understand it! 😭🩷

The real difference between Tezuka’s Astro Boy and Urasawa’s Pluto is in the moral themes and storytelling. I have so much respect for Tezuka’s original work and its optimism, but Urasawa takes it to a whole new level with a darker, more mature take, exploring deeper issues like human nature and politics. It’s a brilliant reimagining.

Atlas's degree of being (often) evil, anti-evil, and (sometimes + ultimately) good is very similar to Disney's *Maleficent, especially from the live action Disney movie 'Maleficent'. (*From the original Disney 2D cartoon movie 'Sleeping Beauty', Maleficent is pure evil.)

Zoran's hairstyle looks like Buttercup's hairstyle (from the Powerpuff Girls series). Zoran's personality looks similar to Disney's Snow White's.

Tho this show only had 50 episodes, I'm still proud of it being a success. Even the ending made me absolutely cry.
To think THIS is what lead to Urasawa’s Pluto is amazing

Astro boy was actually the first anime I rlly got into (ironic considering it’s often considered the first MODERN anime) but I wanted to ask, where can you actually find the complete version of the jp version of this series? I can only ever find the dub.

We heard ...... There will be perhaps 2025 upcoming "Astro Boy Reboot" as a French-Japanese (3D) animation, probably based on Astro Boy 2003 series. "Astro Boy Reboot" as a French-Japanese (3D) animation also has the same production named "Method" as Zag's Miraculous.

We heard the upcoming Tezuka's **Astro Boy Reboot** 3D animation with the same production "Method" as Zag's Miraculous, will be aired and broadcasted soon. We also heard that **Astro Boy Reboot** 3D animation would/might be based on Astro Boy 2003 series. Even on Netflix, Disney+, Disney Branded Television, and Cartoon Network.

This is my favorite iteration of Astro Boy/Tetsuwan Atom, because it made Dr Tenma such an interesting villain. There's an earlier episode of the series that pointed out as a child, Tenma didn't have any friends and didn't know how to interact with people, so he built a teddy bear robot to be his friend that basically just placated him all the time. Then the accident that took the life of his son Tobio was spun off from an argument because he didn't his son's emotional attachments seriously. He doesn't know how to form relationships with people without attempting to control their actions, and it keeps backfiring on him, even when he goes so far as to try and construct robot family that he can tell what to do. The final straw in all this is him trying to manipulate Atom one last time with the classic "emotional isolation" tactic by saying "I'm the only one who knows you and understands you," and Atom rejects it, because he has already experienced enough of the world to know he is loved by many. The terrible irony of this whole story is that Tenma built a wonderful, kind, loving robot, a robot that can think for itself like a real person and chooses to use his power for good all the time, and who would certainly choose to befriend Tenma and love him as a father, if he would just stop trying to FORCE Atom to do and be what TENMA WANTS. He wanted to build a perfect son, to replace the one he lost, and he DID, but he was always going to eventually grow up and away, as children always do, and Tenma just didn't have the faculties to deal with it, until it was too late.

If Astro Boy does decide to come back I want it to be like this sure the CGI Movie was great but it was nowhere near this level of greatness Astro Boy is Basically Pinocchio but with technology and Tenma was just a grieving father who wanted to resurrect Tobio so he can right his wrongs as a father Astro Boy is a story about loss and grief if it were ever to come back I want it to be like this!

Fun fact: this anime and some western cartoons like ed edd n eddy, were the some of the very last few animated series to be animated on cels in 2000s, you know, beucase all animation companies already started using digital animation since early 2000s up to now.

I miss the days we got robot/mech animations like this, its all CG now.. and its terrible. I remember taking my friend to the hospital and sitting in the waiting room with this playing on the TV, I was hooked and had to get the whole series to watch.

The one thing. That one simple word, was enough. Was the thing that finally saved Dr Tenma. All he wanted without realizing, what he wanted with all he had in his heart. Was to hear his son call him Father again.
