You don't need to lock off your changes, you need to slide the weight up the pole to counter balance the telescope. Raise them till the telescope just floats in whatever position you put it in.

@@SWSniper89 For RA? Sure. Made a video on that two years prior to this one. Not that simple for Declination, especially if there's a larger finder scope on one end. Locking in the changes can avoid the scope spinning or dropping down from the finder's un-counterbalanced mass in the Dec axis.

@@gagemurphy8373 because unlike a map of the Earth which is top/down, the sky is bottom/up. Different perspective. Lay on you back with north over the top of your head and feet to the south, and where are easy and west? East is now left and west is right. Bottom/up perspective.

Wow. The zero hour of right ascension DOESNT go through Aries - it goes through Pisces. The spot where the elliptical crosses the zero hour is called "the first point of Aries" for historical reasons, even though that point is in Pisces now. Kind of blown away at such a fundamental mistake in a beginner's video. You had one job!

I think this eclipse is indictive of the personality of people born on this day. They don't bring much attention to themselves yet bring great change. I'm one of these people. I have set many people and ideas in motion, yet received no earthly honor for it. A simple thanks would have sufficed 😢. I believe all things God created work in harmony with each other. The Lion King, did a great job explaining this. God created the moon and the Stars. They affect the tides and the growth of the earth, so why would they not have an affect on us. There is a thing called free will; and people like to dismiss that idea. Well, they like the idea when it comes to where they live and what they eat. They don't like the idea after drinking and driving, or a night of reckless sex. I should say they don't like the consequences of their choices. We have control of our thoughts folks. We may have outside forces influencing us for good or bad. However, ultimately, the choice is up to us. Every action starts with a thought. I am a recovering addict. I learned during recovery I control my thoughts. My body has a physical and chemical response, even to this day 😮. However, I make that initial first choice. I learned to retrain my brain. If a song, person, place, thing or even smell provoked a " thought" it had to go. I learned that thinking on that thought turned into action. Did I think that feeling would ever leave me? NO!!!! But I learned to recognize it for what it was. A voice of temptation and death. I tried to reason with it. Like we do all things and people we love that are destructive. "Only on the weekend", till it runs out and I am done ", giving it loved ones and saying " only when you know I am in pain". All kinds of bullshit. I tried to compromise with a demon with 😂😂😂😂. It doesn't work like that. They will let you believe your own bullshit. Love calls us out and says, " Hey your killing yourself". That devil will tell you they are jealous, hating on you, and out to get you 😮". My devil was opium. Yours might be gambling, eating to much or to little, sexual promiscuity, cheating, greed, narcissism, and on on the list goes of ways the enemy has to trap you up. I emplore you to call out to the Most High. There is not a man on earth that can tell you what to do. We are all lost at sea trying to grab a raft. We are all struggling with our inner demons. We want to be charitable, honest, honoured, and dignified. Yet, we find ourselves doing the walk of shame, lying to cover an infraction, stealing or being dishonest out of desperation or keeping up with the Joneses. I want even mention the other horrible things we do to each other 😢. There is a reason for this internal struggle 😞. This is the affect of Adam and Eve bighting into that Apple. Choice's have consequences 😮. I'm not going to do an explanation of the whole word of God. If you are truly hungry, you will go on the hunt for truth. That's how it should be anyhow. There is a way out of the termoil you are in. Just like those thoughts I spoke on. Spirits are not physical till you make them so. Sin was brought into this world via an action. That action required a blood sacrifice. " If you eat from this tree, ye will surely die". So, a blood sacrifice had to be paid to atone for the sin/ action. This brings us to Jesus. If you have made it this far then there might be hope for you 😅. That means you are a true truth seeker. Pray, friend, ask God to direct you and give you strength and the ability to recognize truth. I'm a person struggling just like you. I do know the truth and what saved me from a 20 year addiction. Multiple life threatening incidents and major surgeries. My life is crazer than any lifetime movie 😅. Jesus is what pulled me through. Not psychics, numerology, or any other flawed human. Seek the creator of all things not the creation. God created man for one purpose and that is communion. No other creature can boast such a claim. You where created in the image of the living God friend 😮. Of course all other creatures hate you. They damn sure don't want you to realize who you are. Deceit, confusion, and chaos is the enemies game. You can spot him anywhere. When you see people who are angry, mean, striffle, argumentative, fake nice, gossiping, or getting involved in stuff that doesn't concern them; you can bet, they are a agent of the enemy whether they know it or not. If you are truly wanting to obtain peace. I suggest you call on Jesus. Understand what sin really is and the implications of it. When seeking forgiveness understand that you are going to make a conscious decision not to behave a certain way. No, you will have to change people, places, and things at first. You have to strengthen your faith. As you grow and obtain peace people who don't have it will seek to steal it from you. Understand, it's not them, but the spirit that is in them that drives them to be hateful. Don't try to live like a angel among devil's. Hence, changing people places and things. Otherwise, you will be heartbroken and destroyed. Nobody said being chosen was easy, but you will have the peace and grace to weather every storm. If God is beside you then who stands a chance against you 😅.

@Eyesonthesky how very interesting to learn you have picked up a Tesco 60mm refractor from the 1960s. Some of the older Tasco refractors from the 60s were made in Japan and they are built like tanks unlike the cheap plasticky 60mm refractors you get on the market today. Mine is a Prinz Astral 500 model and made in Japan also and no plastic and it has quite a bit of weight. Yeah, really pleased for you with your purchase 😀

dumb question (I know this vid i 3yrs old), but does the gradient marker on the RA have to be set to zero when you've got the scope all set to true north and the correct latitude? The marker ring on my Celestron AstroMaster has a gradient ring that moves freely. I do not know if it's supposed to be this way? My DEC ring is fixed in position. Should this be fixed at 90 degrees when adjusting the RA? or does it not matter what they are both set to when aligning the scope?
@Eyesonthesky
@Eyesonthesky 2 ай бұрын
@@finite934 don't worry about the RA ring. It is meant to move so it can be adjusted for the time and then find objects via RA & Dec. BUT...the rings need to be AT LEAST 4 inches / 100mm diameter to have enough precision to do that, AND you need perfect polar alignment. Long story short: You're fine. Don't worry about the RA ring.

I am a bit confused about what RA and Declination should be. Is right ascension when your looking directly north left to right or up and down(from earth)? I am not for certain which one it is and would like a correction please. My telescope shows left to right in degrees(0-90), up and down in the 24 hour scale. I have been researching for the past week and need help as I am mixing them up with my perspective and the way some articles explain it gets me perplexed. Stellarium shows RA in hours and Dec in degrees so is that correct or swapped?
