Good luck at LVO dude - we went in 2023 and it was a blast. I'm fairly highly ranked with DA (but I don't have a YT channel so no one cares right 😂😂😂 I'm only on Instagram). It's nice to see you trying out some fluff. The good thing about LVO is that it even 400 of the people going are "competing", 700 will be there for the beers and have fun lists. Honestly, don't think you'll do too well - bikes are still too flimsy and die too easily. Also they're too big to hide. Callidus - 100% - she's in every list I bring. Out of sight in the middle for the strat debuff, pick her up every turn in case you draw something like engage or containment. Happy to chat all things DA whenever you like mate.

Don't know , but maybe switch the Callidus for an impulsor for fast delivery of either the Inner Circle or Assault intercessors ? Just an idea . It's a good way to protect the IC boys . And for the Lion's Blade detachment , there's more to the Ravenwing than bikes .... *cough* StormRaven *cough*

Outriders is str and damage, not attacks. Predator is reroll damage, not wounds. Honestly, these changes are massive, I think non divergent marines are now much better than DA, but I'm sticking with my boys. Stromlance is probably the way to go, but looking at Lions Blade too.

Though I haven't been as active of late as I used to, I'm still kinda surprised how little people have been excited with these. Granted, TS and GK basically getting Daemon detachment and few others being rehashes (like Bile being clearly warmed leftovers of the two previous Bile's [still kinda interested in that])... Buuut! If this gets ol' Geek to use bikes again, maybe even film an encounter? 😘 Then I'm all in for that!

I was wondering what you thought about the update. I'm really going to miss the 3 inch deep strike. I loved that rule with the Inner Circle Taskforce detachment. I would have a 10 man terminator brick led by a captain with the enchantment that let you deep strike in on turn 1. I'd then deep strike them in turn 1 using that Relic Teleportarium move for free because of the Captain and I'd spread the 11 man Terminator unit out so that I could hopefully block most of the paths my opponent would need to use to get out of his deployment zone. Then on turn 2 and sometimes 3 as well I’d bring in my Deathwing Knights from deep strike also using Relic Teleportarium so that they would be super close to whatever monster or tank I needed to kill. So then while my opponent is fighting trying to get out of his deployment zone I could just be taking all the objectives and doing missions. It was working out really good for me so it will deff be missed by me. That was the only thing I think keeping using the Inner Circle Taskforce. I may now move over to Gladius or build up my Ravenwing collection some more so that I can use the new detachment.

Chaplains with Outriders is going to be so good!! Devastating Wounds on their twin linked Bolters to fish for critical wounds, Everyone gets the +1 Str and +1 Damage and +1 to Wound works even better on the Crozius. I was thinking about Azrael with Inercessors, but I think he needs to be in a unit of 10. Don't forget ATVs can shoot during your opponent's shooting phase if they shoot your mounted units, which makes the Cannon better if you want to deal Dev Wounds and have a longer range.. I recommend a Darkshroud because they have a 6" aura that gives everyone stealth and cover. Also, a Storm Speeder Thunderstrike gives your army a +1 to wound vs Monsters and Vehicles. I can't purchase Black Knights and the Ravenwing Command Squad.since they arwe first born and I know GW is going to dumpster them into legends soon. wUnless they allow me to convert Outriders into Knights using the Black Knight bitz.. Its kind of shadyThat they know they are going to make them legends and they are still selling them at full price. Not falling for that trick after getting burned5-6 times. I kind of hate how all the Ravenwing Data sheets in the DA book have a 5++ but they didn't extend it to the data sheets that gain Ravenwing.. Lastly, the more I look at the new DA detachment the more I like it. Rapid Ingress your Terminators just outside of 9" of an enemy unit you know your Outriders can charge. Then during your next turn charge your 6 Outriders into combat and then have your Deathwing unit charge with a +2" on the charge roll. Then when you can have your Outriders fall back and go somewhere else. Did you see how busted Outriders are with Blood Angels when under the effects of the Red Thirst??

Ravenwing has always been my favorite army, so this is nice. When they removed the bikes I simply put them on bigger bases and used them as outriders. My local group doesn't care (or notice for that matter) thought I am not sure how a tournament would react. Anyone know if they mind?

Instead of two Predator Im thinking of two Ballistus. Same points with a bit better durability.

Very interesting take on this detachment 👍 But like you, I am not so keen on the bikes in general, so ai am much more interested in the new Librarian detachment. It gives solid boosts to Hellblasters, sternguard and terminators which happen to be my favourite units/models. But I need more Librarians to make it work 😅

So minor point, the Pred Annihilator rule got changed from reroll Damage 1 to the Damage roll, not wound. The main gun is twin linked though, so it.still has that wound reroll. I still think they are great.value.

Revivers with lt. in this detachment might be a good unit to do a softish alpha strike. Deep strike. Shoot. Move. Charge all in one turn.

I'm more excited for the librarian themed detachment than the bikes and the lions claws detachment. Swarming the board with terminator librarians with a 10 man bricks of terminators and Ezekiel running with bladeguard and a generic librarian with inner circle companions sounds hella fun. That said sammael with a big brick of black knights in the list sounds like a good addition to.

I would much rather have the plus 1 to wound on Oath than continued access to compliant detachments that no longer function like any of the things that divergent players utilized in the early days of the edition. Go ahead and lock us out already.....and bring back Jink saves......and some kind of Deathwing bonus reminiscent of +1 to hit while stationary and auto-passing leadership test to perform fallbacks or something.......

Azrael with sternguard vets are gonna be really stout now! In mixed lists I typically use bike the opposite of what you would think many times. They’re great for back line screening and late game objective grabbing. Black knights I typically use as QRF shooters behind units at max range if I can and only charge to finish off something and I’m not getting counter charged.

Mounted shouldnt have pivot, especially bikes

Having played both now has my first game of AoS last weekend, i think its a better game rules wise and the models are really cool. I've gone stormcast eternals, but getting the ogre mawtribe spearhead box soon. I have 5 armies of 40k im thinking of selling a couple to fund AoS instead.

Awesome! I went in the other direction and used all sorts of bits to make "Warp Talons" for a Scavenger World Eaters army that hasn't fallen to Chaos. Used the MK6 Heresy body and went nuts with 40k parts; Ravenwing Corvus Hammers, Chainswords, Power Swords, random Jump Packs. In the end the look actually worked!

Great video as always, it's very easy to get stuck in Warhammer (and any long term hobby yo be honest) and not realise that our interests change with them over time. When starting 16 years ago I was definitely in the gaming mindset, before shifting to the painting side. Now ive shifted again to collecting old school minatures but inow that my interests in the hobby will likeky change again in a few years!

Hey Phil! I'm trying to make my new Terminator Chaplin I got from the new Dark Angels Battleforce box look like the one you made here. The only part I'm seeing that you have that I can't find is a Terminator armor shoulder pauldron for the right that has a Dark Angels insignia on it. All the ones that I have are for the left arm. So I'd have to put one on backwards which I don't think will look right. Where did you get a Dark Angels logo terminator pauldron for the left arm that I could use on Chaplins and Librarians?

40K is such a firehose. I think GW tries to keep the flow of models, specialty games, armies, and editions coming fast enough that you can have “a 40K hobby” rather than “a miniature wargaming hobby” and take up all your hobby time. It’s the physical version of a live service video game.

I’ve really been enjoying the fanatic paint line. The only paint that I feel doesn’t live up to its name is the fanatic gun metal. It’s just way too bright. It’s actually brighter than leadBelcher. In fact, I would say it’s too close to being a normal silver. When I see a paint labeled gun metal I’m thinking about a metallic that’s closer towards iron warrior or maybe even a leadBelcher using a shade of one to one medium to gray. Heck, I saw a recent video yesterday from peachy who used gunmetal from the fanatic line and mentioned that it was a little too bright and he added some of the fanatic Matt black to darken it down and it seem to do a good job

Sorry but these look quite honestly... Terrible. Speedpaints work awful on space marines and you didnt put the effort in to get rid of the excess paint, ending up with splotchy and lazy result. But i guess its not the point, at least this makes for a painted army... Instead of my mostly grey cus it takes me ages to finish.

I've been using Vallejo UK Bronze Green for my base coat, then drybrushing with Black Green, then Dark Green, and picking out small highlights with AK Pastel Green. I wasn't planning on doing a wash, but now I'm thinking they're gonna need something. But if I can ask, what's the impetus for using gold for the aquillas? Don't they usually do a bone colored one? I'm just wondering, as I use gold aquillas as well, but to denote veterans who are not part of the Deathwing. And on all the dreadnoughts. And a lot on Deathwing vehicles. Anyways, just wondering if its head-canon or artistic? Final question, stay as chapters, or officially reform the legion? For The Lion!

At this moment, I'm working in my Raven Guard Combat Patrol since the beginning of this month and I only have 2 and a half miniatures painted. I'm very detail oriented (a blessing and a curse). I think I will finish all 15 in the middle of 2025 😅.

Great video. I paint my Dark Angeles with the army painter black, with an airbush. Then Angele Green. Before, I used the chaos black and dark angel green from gw. Rattle cans need to be used outside and airbush you can use inside. Dark Angeles is my favorite army to collect and to paint.

Looking fresh and vibrant there, Master Geek. 😘 Even the Cawl Marines were great... Just recalled you had done pretty much the same video with contrast or somesuch and went to look for that. Instead found a boy few pounds above your weight line and got to say, you got even a bit younger-looking along the years. 😁 But on the topic, have never been too good even with "simple methods". Always end up touching up the models way more than I should. Something like armour, I just keep fiddling it for so long that one colour on one model can easily take my daily allowance for hobby (such as I don't even have it at all lately). So it gets really annoying really fast. Sometimes do get into the zone and don't need to rush anywhere and then even minor success is great. Buut a lot of time it just reminds me how much more I would need to be doing and what all else I'm avoiding while painting. 🙈 But definitely great example for those who can actually manage to quick-n-eazy. 😎👍
