100% with you. I'm starting to build my first 40k small army....The Raven Guard Combat Patrol. My work schedule and my wife work schedule don't permit me to play the longest version at the hobby store, only I'm able to play the shortest version at the hobby store. I have been building 40K since February this year, and I want to experience and learn how to play the game. Thank you for this video. It has given me the motivation to keep my journey into the gaming universe. Thank you again!!!

Start small is the best advice. Do not buy a load of stuff all at once. While seeing all those boxes and knowing that is a full game list or even several list options can be cool it can also lead to mental paralysis for just so much to do. I would also say research on cheaper options. is there a discount box you can buy, are sprues available on e-bay for units in big starters. While i have little issue with the build build build to have a mound of primed models. I do have a major problem with painting. I personally found painting a unit (single box amount) at a time is tolerable. Trying to assembly line paint 20, 30, or more models gets old real fast even with insanely easy schemes. Vince Venturella has some good painting vids and tips for this type of thing.

Also what Phil asked at the end. i've recently started a new army in Conquest and joined a growth league with that army. I've also bought the starter and considering getting some basic boxes for Dropfleet Commander. GW stuff is actually on the down low. I'll try to finish what i have for 40k/AOS and will only buy updates for existing armies. No new armies with GW stuff for the foreseeable future for me.

I wonder if there is a video in the idea of enough. You touch on it at the end of the video and wanting to do the things. I have an Orcs Blood Bowl team, a Skaven Sevens team, and my human team is on the paint desk. After that I have a bunch of Relicblade minis and terrain to build.

Easy-Mode: Step 1. Have an addictive personality. Step 2. You've already bought 4,000 points of your army.

Start small, paint 1 unit or squad and work out your paint scheme and get a taste for the hobby

Whole heartedly disagree! I honestly think this is the best hobby anyone could get involved with! There is no other hobby out there with as many facets and opportunities to explore than miniatures!

When starting an RPG hobby first realise D&D is neither the only nor the best on the market. When starting a card games hobby first realise MtG is neither the only nor the best on the market. When starting a miniature wargames hobby first realise WH40K is neither the only nor the best on the market. When starting a boardgaming hobby first realise Monopoly is neither the only nor the best on the market. May not be immediately obvious for a person new to any of those hobbies.
