I love that he talks about real application vs training. Many Katas lost their meaning because people forgot over the generations how to actually apply it and then made up some BS excuses for how to apply them (only for others to find more plausible applications)

Your not going to do a double block against a real fighter, they're fake a right roundhouse & knock you out with left hook.

@@ilhamramlan4549In a real fight where your opponent trying to knock you out, in real time a double block would leave your head wide open. A master at silat, will probably able to pull it off, but a novice won't. They wouldn't be able to get back to guard faster enough. A train fighter would do a kick, punch combo, the punch would almost land same time as kick, the kick draws the double block. But I like alot of things about silat.

@@steviet3995 yes i agree because he used both hands to intercept a single leg while his jaw is exposing, one thing is , thats why you dont imitate from what you see the teacher did. When you understand why he did that is actually to bait the opponent to reach his face, so that by correct strategy he can control the opponent in different places. I think there is one story in the olden days about an invader when they try to attack the malay warrior, their hands stick to the palm of the warrior.. and some even claim it to be a black magic . But it is actually through the understanding of timing, coordination, angle, etc And dont be surprise if maul actually can still intercept the kicking and the punching at the same time because in ssbd he taught the student on ambidexterity. Means he can intercept using the shield for the leg and intercept the hand with the other options(4 above 3 below) for the punch that came at the same direction..if the punch came from different direction no problem for him.. its his art he taught his student well. Try to search "chain of strikes" video in maul565 channel

@@ilhamramlan4549 I like how silat uses strong defencive techniques to hurt there attackers. The elbow, knee are very effective to break hands & shin bones, when attackers punch & kick.
