While i agree with all your points, i think we REALLY need to have thicker skins. Letting every little wind of negativity tear your self-esteem apart is not good to anyone's head.

As an autistic person i find it so hard to like things "normally". You can have an interest? And not only think about that and be passionate?? To me thats odd. Im a cartoon watcher. Like straight up kids cartoons. I dont care what others think!! I WILL collect the merch, i will obsess over it, i think being cringe should be accepted! Be happy!!! I also draw and stuff, and i think it gives me stuff to do!! These days idk why people have "accepted" interests and whike it makes me sad i will like my interest anyways

You owe it to your soul to do whatever the hell you want with your life. Moreover, the “sloppy swaying” comment highlights the fact that nobody understands that craft is something you DEVELOP. Nobody nails a dance on their first try, and honestly, we should be so lucky to witness an artist discover themselves and grow.

i completely agree with this video, but in defense of hating on the "song of the summer" videos. there's just something so offputting about someone who does not have a lot of musical experience pursuing music, and one of their first steps being to try to commercialize it online instead of taking time to hone their craft. we don't hate these videos bc they're doing too much, we hate them bc they're not doing enough. what makes it cringe is trying to build a following for mediocre efforts in an industry saturated with so many artists who have put the time and the effort in to be quality. if you like making music, keep making it, maybe learn some tricks and process, but trying to go viral off of your first creation 3 weeks into your hobby is just not digestible for people

as an autistic person i've never really liked anything a 'normal' amount, and i've also never really understood the obsession with catering to others. like sure i try not to annoy people by talking about my own interests 'too much' but it never made sense to me people would just, not do the things they like doing because other people don't like it lol. not gonna downplay my enjoyment of life for others

People hate hobbies because hobbies require effort and in the late stages of capitalism, effort should only be given to labor and increasing your profitability and for workers it means being exploited. This is a subconscious attempt to subvert capitalism to avoid hobbies and also to have them, ironically. Or unironically. Capitalism is also post meaning, post values, post morality, post ethics.

sooo i dont really care what they do with their childhood may they do whatever they want, but it is a fact that only a very small percentage can „make it“ while a bigger percentage just talks about „making it“ so i actually doubt that gen alpha will be THE generation to build generational wealth or whatever

i cannot believe how stupid this whole slander on passionate people is. and seeing people actually worried if their intrests are "socially acceptable" is simply saddening me. life is way too short to care what some idiots without anything interesting to offer think about you, it is only the better for you knowing you're not afraid to enjoy things

This is one of the things I'm thankful to my autism for. I have never had the social awareness to realize something I was doing was "cringe," therefor I've never really felt ashamed for my niche interests and hobbies. Obviously, I knew when people were making fun of me, but when they did I would just... stop interacting with them. Like why would I ever waste the little bit of precious time I have on people who just want to be mean?

Finnish Tiktok has a problem with this exact thing combined with eyewatering amounts of racism and open neo-nazism. Every paid promotion post (they get shown to more people) on Tiktok by a non-white Finnish creator has the comments chock full of slurs, racist jokes and even when it's not racist, it's putting them down for something else.

I feel like the “song of the summer” stuff isn’t cringe because they have ambition, it’s cringe because they have massive egos in thinking they made the song of the summer. Maybe humbling people is our response to seeing them take pride in something we don’t believe they should, or when they have “too much” pride, whatever that means. Staying humble (which is very different from being nonchalant) is a quality which has been valued so highly for so long, so maybe people respond in the way they do because the musicians are the opposite or humble.

dont worry about what others think, be youself people will always agree and disagree, exept the agreeing ppl are 99% quiet, and the disagreeing ppl are 99% loud do what you do best, and people wil naturaly follow there are too many of "us", every opinion you can imagen, exists in atleast 1% of people (thats 10.000 people for every million) less then 1% decided to comment realizing sense of scale can help to protect yourself

I am such a musical theatre kid. And I'm gonna be honest- before watch this video I didn't realize it was "cringe." As an ambivert, who is extroverted a majority of the time, i do not care about singing in public, and I talk about theatre a lot, it's an active part of my life. I love it so much, wouldn't trade it for the world and absolutely no one can change that. Some of the "cringe" stuff I will never outright say is stuff like, lgbt ships that i'd rather die than tell my friends about, gacha, ace attorney, percy jackson, undertale, and so many more "cringe fandoms" yea it's childish, but its fun to enjoy and no one can stop me from doing it in secret.

I am almost 40 and I really had to keep my nerd interests quiet to simply adapt. Then around the later 2000s and 2010s it didn't matter as the internet opened up so you could find things and communities so easy. Then companies could profit off selling tshirts and other goods. It is insane to me I could find Star Trek clothing, models and other things but going to physical stores and it just being there. When I was a kid it was impossible. Sadly it seems to be going in reverse now but as I am older I will just be cringe and not care. It is better than being a suppressed basic bitch.

2:05 My guy My absolute homie My favrourite thing to listen a friend talk about IS THEIR PASSIONS! Did people not notice how passionate people truly get talking about what they love? Is that light in their eyes, that change in expression and body language, the fervor they talk with! I especially love seeing guys express themselves like this when usually they are forced by society to be so dull in general! And simply LISTENING is such a JOY and MOTIVATOR for ME do to stuff I love! I never heard a more cringe take in my LIFE to hear sb just say "take it to yappersville". How boring and stressed and lifeless must you be 100% of the time to say this to anyone? Take ya'll antidepressants then! Clearly some of you have been skipping and IT SHOWS!

And I told my classmates how it’s my huge interest and that I will show them my LEGO Saturn V rocket for presentation purposes and they rolled their eyes and said I am overly dramatic. But you know what? In two weeks is the presentation and I WILL SHOWCASE THE ROCKET AND I EVEN MADE AN INTRO VIDEO FOR THE PRESENTATION

It definitely makes it easier when you have other people who like the same things you like, if that makes sense? Other people who are trying to climb out of the bucket too. I nerd the HELL out over all sorts of computer things. I made a 417-byte program in raw x86 assembly and put it in a QR code. There's no practical reason to it. You can't link to anything, and developing anything at all in that environment is super painful, but it is cool as hell.
