You forget to mention given the initial price tag and how the global Economy crashed and went into a deep recession as millions of people lost jobs homes .This further gives massive credit to how Sony saved the PS3 but also how the systems itself was a great technological experience in the end. AAA first party titles galore!

Kutaragi was a visionary for sure, but mistakes were made on the PS3. Kudos to the team for for turning that around. The only with video is that the cell it was designed for everything, including games. But nobody cares enough about the complexity of managing a SPU + Split Memory pool, while also taking care of the PPU and also the GPU + Split pool of memory on its side. I think they had took the PS2 Emotion Engine + Vector Units to an extreme way too far.

I loved this place, i used to visit it before segaworld even existed. It seemed to have every game in existence at a time when normally id visit seaside arcades on holiday and only see a few new ones.

Intereting video, but are you a Saturn hater ? You speak about selling "only" 9.5million units without telling the information for the Dreamcast, while saying it was a great console, giving the impression that the Saturn more a failure than the Dreamcast... Later in the video you also say that Sega still suffer economicaly because the MegacD, 32X and Saturn but not the Dramcast... You are wrong. 1rst because Shenmue was the true hudge loss at the time and... Here are the numbers : PlayStation : 102.49 million Nintendo 64 : 32.93 million Saturn : >9.5m 3DO : <2m Jaguar : <150,000 Total ~147 million console for the 5 gen -> ~6.4% of the market for the Saturn. Ps2 : >155 million Xbox : >24 million GameCube : 21.74 million Dreamcast : >9.1 million Total ~209 million console for the 6 gen --> ~4.3% of the market for the Dreamcast. So no, the Dreamcast was not a higher succes than the Saturn. Yoh, who also like the library of the Saturn much much more...

It was amazing

I remember one day how I used to play this game a lot back when I didn’t have a phone and I borrowed my parents. It suddenly came back to me one day and I searched on the AppStore for it. Checked everywhere for it, then when I looked it up, found out the game was discontinued. So sad for me especially since this game was my first exposure to video games

If Sega comes back into the console wars they will need to be very innovative while being unique and not directly competing with other consoles. I was always a Nintendo boy growing up, but I will gladly support Sega because I have fond memories with Genesis games

If you ask me: long story short, the Slim combined with the DualShock 3 saved the console. Much cheaper, and was what people expected from the get-go, on top of finally getting some great games.

As much as I want Sega to make a comeback, I think, based on history there's been room only for 3 major consoles. They might dislodge Microsoft but Sony and Nintendo are gonna be almost impossible to dethrone. Also, historically, Sega only had great success with the Mega Drive/Genesis. The Master System, Saturn, 32X, and Dreamcast got clobbered pretty badly. Of course times change and everyone running Sega these days are almost certainly different folks who have a different take on video games, so who knows. A Sega comeback will also create so much buzz in the video game industry, and if they play their cards right they just might win everyone's dollar.

Omigod, this is astounding. This looks very similar to Sega's Joypolis in Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka(?) back in the late 90s, but this seems far larger. A lot of the design motifs were the same (neon loops over the escalators, etc)

Hi there, I'm posting this 4 years into your future. To answer your question = No, They still haven't released a new console... nor have they announced 1! You also should've mentioned their failed collaboration deals. Did you know that Sega was in talks with Sony, Panasonic, & Microsoft to make a new console from 1993 - 2001? Had any of those took place, Sega wouldn't have fallen... at least not when they did!

I miss that consoles are not cutting edge hardware anymore, its too cost prohibitive. I don't like consoles anymore because they are just mid range PC hardware now.
