Boxing the worst thing you can do is be on the ground. That’s for a number of reasons and I know what I’m talking about sir . Any body who has any experience in martial arts knows that you should already know that . 🙏🏽🥊🥊

If you are spending more than 35 bucks on a knife for defense, you better be a collector or something. You can get what you need, reliable steel 3.5 inch folder, for 20 bucks in 2024.

Do you know what? I am going to learn your transcript verbatim. The next time someone tries this on me in the pub or on the street I will loudly say to anyone within earshot.."Ok, so you see what this guy is trying to do...mate, just stand there for a second...Ok..[quotes transcript]" It might work, it might not but I would do it for sheer entertainment value 😂

Great video. You've clearly done your homework in the lethality side of things. Legally speaking I would say that most courts are gonna want you to try less than lethal tactics to start with. I agree that you need that element of surprise and that they should feel it before they see it. However, in a real situation one could put their knife to the attackers throat and keep them at distance and then back away and offer them the chance to walk away. Now you did say the issue with this is that you have to actually be good at knofe fighting. I would say that you have to be good at fighting. Anyone wanting to use a knife for self defense needs to learn hand to hand first. You need to recognize being flanked. You need to know how to stack multiple attackers. There is a lot that goes into defending yourself against more than one person. A knife is a huge help, but it isn't an automatic win my any means. Train daily. At the very least train your draw every day.

Best pocket knife design is the butterfly knife. If you can legally carry a butterfly I highly recommend getting one and train your draw.

nice video but i dont like that people start to assume that grappling equals bjj. bjj is still a child in agrappling universe. Judo and wrestling on the streets dont need groundfighting to stop opp, one high throw and opp sually out / ko

Imo everyone should carry a knife, it's a very useful tool in a pinch for several situations, if you need to cut a seat belt to save yourself or someone else, obviously for emergency self defense & life or death, if a Pitbull attacks, etc... in the state I live in now, I can pretty much carry and conceal any type of knife. For practical reasons I suggest carrying a 3" to 4" knife. Fixed or folder, whatever you prefer.

I'm in constant altercations with cardboard boxes and box adjacent opposition. My go-to knife is a Gerber foldout with a two and a half inch blade that came with a fixed blade I bought. It's never let me down.

well, you SHOULD carry a micro 9mm in a velcroed-in, kydex front pants pocket holster, but if you cannot, carry a double-ended, double edged throwing in front of and behind each hip. Dull the points and edges on the "handle' ends a bit and learn to always grab at the (sheathed) knife from the side. Then you'll have 2 to throw and one in each hand to fight with.

You don't need lethal force in civil defense. All you need is to deter and nothing is better for the purpose than pain control. Inflict as much pain as you need and you are good. To simplify things use a tool of your preference, train with it, have it ready. I always have a few knives on me in case I need to cut or poke but never a living thing.

I had occasion to research knife law around the country for a client. Turns out that in almost every jurisdiction, state, local, and federal, any blade that locks or is fixed is seen by the courts as Per Se a dangerous weapon, and without regard to length. That all by itself does not make possession a crime. The things that convert it into a crime to possess are (1) what you do with it and (2) whether the arresting officer testifies that, in his experience and training, you possessed it for an unlawful purpose. Courts almost always defer to the police when they use that talismanic phrase, "in my experience and training." Now about self-defense: The courts truly do not favor the idea of it. They will tell you that the Police are there to protect you and the idea of self-defense is the disfavored "self help." The same courts will tell you (under other circumstances) that the police have no duty to protect you as an individual they are here to protect society and owe you the person no individualized duty. So, if they fail to come to your aid, you don't have a right of action to sue them for failing to do so. At law (in most states), you may not defend yourself with deadly weapons, and the police can just drive on by as you are being murdered. Now, as to what you tell the court when the prosecutor tries to trap you with the obvious question of why you had that particular edged item on your person. NEVER SAY IT IS FOR SELF-DEFENSE. That's the state's case that you were carrying with the intent that it be used for harm. Say for fishing, hunting, your hobby, tie it to your vocation. If the court believes you, that's your get-out-of-jail card.

Hmm, this goes in the direction of a lot of these BJJ V Boxing videos and cops out saying 'learn both'. A more interesting (hypothetical) question is 'if' for some reason, you could only choose one? Which would you choose for self-defense, boxing, or BJJ?

It's a very good video. But I also want to attend you to the fact that even if you are skilled, disarming someone with a knife is propably the most dangerous and terrifying thing to have to do. Most people grab the wrist, but then the hand is still free to rotate, meaning that the one holding the knife can still insert the knife into the defending arm and impact mobility. My point is that even when someone grabs your knife arm or vise versa, it is still an enormous threat.
@Eric-cm9ri
@Eric-cm9ri 7 ай бұрын
As he said, you don't want to lose your knife in a life threatening situation; He punches you once good and you drop it there's a good chance he will use it on you. If you have to deploy your knife with no other option get busy. In many cases a knife can be more lethal than a gun because you're stabbing/slashing and and if done right you'll be cutting into organs and tendons on the arm depending on where you strike. A big thing to avoid trouble is to be aware of your surroundings, don't hang out in dangerous places if possible and the more people around the better. Remember, an assailant does not have your best interest at heart. If you would have to use a knife in a life or death situation don't play games, take em out. It's better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6. The greatest form of self-defense is calling on Christ Jesus. The person wanting to hurt you without being provoked has demons and Jesus Name is more powerful than every demon in hell. Thank you for this video. God bless you. 🙏

There's a lot of misunderstandings that martial arts have of rotation and throwing mechanics in baseball. The final part of the kenetic chain is fundamentally wrong with fighters. Too much to get into, but look up scapular loading in baseball. Will add real power into punches.

One thing people ignore a lot about the whole “you should never go to the ground” argument is that it’s not always your choice. You can trip, you can get taken down, you can get punched and lose your balance. If you end up in this position, it’s a lot better to do so with grappling skills. It will help you survive a ground fight as well as teach you how to stand up as fast as possible
