Hey, I love these and have been following - but I was wondering how to gradient on larger vehicles? I'm currently painting a Vyper and have done the panel lines but not sure where to hit the darker and lighter colours as there's more sort of longer, wider folds, if that makes sense?

Just getting into the leagues of votan with the kill team and love the colors you chose. I have slaves to darkness and chose space dwarves as my sci-fi army go figure.

what would you recommend in place of Corax White now that it's been discontinued? is there another good light grey out there that occupies the same position for you?
@WiltrichsMiniatureArt2 ай бұрын
I haven't found anything which is a close match so far, so if anyone reading this has recommendations I'd be interested in hearing them. I managed to find a can of the Corax White in a shop last year which I'm hoping will be enough to see me through the rest of my basecoating... but we'll see. I've recently discovered Colour Forge Sprays but haven't had a chance to test out their white spray yet. Once I find one I'll update the description with a suitable alternative though.

Hello Wiltrichs, do you have any of your resin plinths still available or to sell? If not can you recommend a good alternative. In the middle of a display project and this is a super helpful video. Thanks
@WiltrichsMiniatureArt5 ай бұрын
Hi sorry for late reply. No I don't have any to sell but for most of my projects these days I use plinths from Taro Model Maker www.taromodelmaker.com/ very good quality.

do you know if the mark fit is safe on acrylics?
@WiltrichsMiniatureArt9 ай бұрын
I personally haven't had any problems adding mark fit on acrylics. But, I have seen some people saying it's melted their acrylic paint, so they have added a layer of gloss varnish over the paint, before applying the decals/mark fit to protect the paint.
@berserksamurai9 ай бұрын
@@WiltrichsMiniatureArtthanks for the tip!
@ignitedxblaze9 ай бұрын
is the surface gloss varnished? mark fit seems to eat acrylics from my attempt, might the acrylics not fully cured.
@WiltrichsMiniatureArt9 ай бұрын
No, no gloss varnish used on this. I haven't had any trouble with it eating into the paint at all if I'm honest. I think there was only about a day between me painting up all my shoulder pads and applying the decals, so could try that. Your gloss varnish suggestion would help. A long time time ago I would gloss varnish the areas first, apply the decal, then I'd brush over some Vallejo matt varnish once fully dried to knock back the shine. But, I was always worried the varnish stages would mess up or would knock back all the hard work highlighting too much, so ended up dropping it.

I'm so glad I waited so long to start seriously painting my Votann. I've incorporated your techniques for armor, leather, and the synthetic black pads/weapon casing with my own scheme. Thank you for the detailed, clear video demonstration! My armor is purple and the incubi darkness works great mixed with my base purple naggaroth night for shading as well.

Hope that helps! :)

Out of interest: why undercoat it black if you’re then going to spend 2 or 3 coats worth of time to bring it up to green without keeping shades in the deep crevices? Why not just start from a darker green undercoat and work up/down from there?
@WiltrichsMiniatureArt11 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s good point, less coats and time. Tbh I hadn’t explored coloured undercoat sprays much, until very recently. So just went with my usual black undercoat out of habit. But I’ve just done similar to what you’re suggesting with my Leagues of Votann army after discovering the Colour Forge Undercoats sprays, much quicker and a great finish. I think I’ll be giving it a go for my Biel-Tan too
