I just received a machine that operates similar to this. Took me a minute to figure it out since it is a bit different than the one I got as a kid (60's model). The one I got as a kid all the "losing" balls just recycle automatically to be reused, no need to keep refilling at the top, but you have to insert the play ball one at a time to launch, no auto-feed. I prefer the older model, but I can't wait to get this latest acquisition up and running a little better.

All wiper arm front and rear should be designed to park vertical. Will be doing this mod as I have just bought a clubman S R55.
@jb678901Ай бұрын
Have owned mt R55 S since late 2016. Just some hints... 1) Change the oil & filter every 5K miles (8K KM); using 5W-30 full syn, or 5W-40 full syn). Do this and you will avoid major issues/costs. Check oil levels frequently...at least every other gas tank refill. Never let the oil go below midway between low and full. NUMBER ONE best way to extend engine & turbo life on this car. 2) Use Seafoam on the dirty side valve cover intake (hose connected nearest to passenger side rear corner of valve cover). With the engine warm, run car at 2K RPM and carefully allow the vacuum in the hose to draw about a dixie cup amount (4-5oz.) of the seafoam liquid, stopping the seafoam draw and covering the hose with your thumb if the car begins to stall. After all the seafoam is drawn, shutdown the engine and let the car sit for 30 minutes. Then, run the car at 4K RPM (drive it in lowest gear) to burn out the excess carbon buildup in the intake. Do this at least 1 time per year or every 10K to 12K miles. 3) At least once a year, nearing the time for an oil change (about 1 full gas tank interval before the oil change), add 4oz of Seafoam to the OIL fill. This will clean out gunk in the engine. 4) Add 8 oz of Seafoam to a full tank of gas at least once a year...this will help keep injectors and fuel system clean. 5) You will have oil leaks from time to time. Do as much as possible when the front of the car is taken apart and in "service mode": a) upgrade the rigid oil feed line to turbo with the stainless steel flexible feed line (kit) and in that kit, also change the oil return tube. b) change out the gaskets to the Oil Filter Housing and the Oil Cooler; its one component, so do both sets. c) If the valve cover is leaking, consider upgrading to a cast aluminum after-market cover that's less likely to warp with heat (it's half the price of the Mini OEM valve cover, so its a no-brainer). In any event, use high temp gasket sealer/maker on the driver side corners in conjunction with a new gasket, to prevent leaks. If your Mini has the N18, just change the PCV (new kits available on eBay) + new gasket (+ gasket maker). 6) If an automatic, do make sure to change the so-called "lifetime" transmission fluid (drain fluid, do not flush) and replace with Mini or Toyota (ATF III) fluid every 75K miles. A kit comes with new filter & gasket. 7) Be alert to timing chain...every 100K miles max. EXPENSIVE repair that will be delayed with good oil change intervals and keeping the oil level near FULL. 8) Thermostat housing. These tend to fail at or above 50K miles. I did this one myself...it's a bit of a pain...but manageable. I also changed the cross over tube connecting the thermostat housing to the backside of the waterpump outlet. Requires some additional tools...like a fiber optic camera to see under the intake manifold, behind the engine; also a 1 foot long pick tool if the tube ends breaks at the water pump and you need to remove the gasket and plastic end pieces...trust me on this one!

won't the wheel hub and wheel bearing be damaged by the strong impact?
@danjreed3 ай бұрын
Not that strong of an impact. Never had a wheel bearing failure from this. The force is too linear to the axle. Now if you hit it, off center - WAY off center like a tire sliding into a curb - boom!

Replacing a 20+ year-old cheapie gas mower because my old knees just don't like pushing it up the hill any more. I am a Makita guy but this Ryobi has the fold away storage that far better fits my over-stuffed storage shed than any of the self-propelled Maks. The fact it is cheaper is a bonus. Will likely pull the trigger in the next day or two. Thanks for the helpful video.
@danjreed3 ай бұрын
Good luck, the fact that Ryobi still makes the same model today is a good sign its a solid design. Mine is still going strong this year on the original batteries. Its a blessing using it, your knees, ears and body will thank you. You don't feel beat up after mowing.

@@danjreed After seeing a video where the SP feature failed and the drive motor is rated for only 200 hours, I had second thoughts. Decided on the Milwaukee. It is presently enroute. Hope it works out for me.
@danjreed3 ай бұрын
@@terrydanks Oh ouch, where did you read about the 200 hours rating? The Milwaukee unit is nice, but twice the price!
@terrydanks3 ай бұрын
@@danjreed Not sure youtube will allow me to post a link? But the video where he discusses this is at kzbin.info/www/bejne/oV7IZYB9r7iEoaM The reviewer is B&Z Reviews. The video is entitled "DON'T BUY a Ryobi 40V Self Propelled Mower.." and was posted a year ago. His self-propelled function died on him and, according to him, this is not an uncommon failure. He shows the documentation rating the SP motor for 200 hours. Yes, the Milwaukee is $$$ but it has what I want, i.e., very powerful as I have need sometimes to use the mower in what could be termed "abuse." Has the fold-up feature too. Glad you remain happy with your Ryobi. I might well have been as well, but, if the SP feature fails, I might as well have stuck with my old gas mower which is still going strong after 21 years.
@danjreed3 ай бұрын
@@terrydanks @terrydanks I did watch it, thanks, that said the mower has a 5 year warranty - Which is better than many gas units. I guess time will tell! Thanks for the info, glad I know what to look for if a problem happens.

I like the mower. I have lots of trouble with gas powered anything, so this seemed like a better mower for me to buy. The only difficult problem I have is that it takes more than 2 batteries use to cut my lawn. So, if I try to recharge one battery after use the battery has to cool down before it will recharge. So that means I have to stop mowing and plug in the cooled down battery to charge. That is my only complaint that I really have.
