The first theme is a Medieval Italian Ballad from Francesco Landini (1325-1397) : Amor c'al tuo sugetto. I never forgot this tune, even though many years have passed since I play this game for the last time! But finally I find the title of this piece of lovely music!

Wow I think its awesome that its actually from the medieval era. Its crazy to think now that this song used to be modern and not even that long ago considering the grand scheme of time

@@bobdude8178 it seems too rythmic to be an original gregorian chant. So maybe some original composition inspired by gregorian chant.

If anyone is curious, the name of this is 'Amor c'al tuo suggetto' by Francesco Landini. In fact, the final cadence is named for him (Landini cadence)

When I was in the middle ages, this song symbolized peace. I would try to NOT be at war when this was playing, either declare peace if it comes up, and Id start a war after the song was over.

I wish Civilization would do this again with the period-relevant music. The culture-relevant is nice, but it would be great to see both period and culture relevance based on your Civ and the time period you are in.

Although the series has improved leaps and bounds, one thing I've enjoyed less is their soundtracks. This game was the pinnacle in that regard.

Meechel Davidson I think the main menu theme of vanilla civ 4 was the last great piece of music the series has produced. I haven't played 6 yet though.

@heyJdog WHAT! Have you heard Russia's, Arabia's and Brazil's themes? They're all part of the culture from their respective civs. Calling them bland and banal is a huge disrespect.

My God. This brings me back... I played away my late childhood with Civilization III. Because of it, I made it to my 6th Grade State Geography Bee and missed the Top 10 by One Question. I thank Civilization III for getting me where I was. This is truely my favorite game. But... :( my new computer won't play it so... I'm depressed, now...

The best part of the Middle Ages conquest was that if you were the Turks, and made your cities in a line driving as far as you could into Europe, you pretty much dominated those countries one by one ^.^

This song is so sad, it reminds me of europe when the barbarian tribes took over and europe was in a state of chaos and uncertainty
@georgejanzen7749 жыл бұрын
foxfalcowolf9397 To be fair to the "barbarian" tribes, they adopted most of the Roman customs and policies. In this respect, Rome lived on. What led to the chaos and uncertainty that we think of today when speaking about late antiquity/early middle ages was the lack of precious metals which already had plagued Rome and made long distance trade difficult. But most devastating of all were climate change and plagues. This really did change the face of Europe. The tribes had nothing to do with this.
@Tanksareforcowards6 жыл бұрын
ah yes, because the Roman empire was just perfect law and order 24/7 and Franks and Germans played no role in history other than being 'barbarians'
